The chief executive of these pawnbrokers has admitted there's still a stigma attached to pawnbroking https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-tees-38986756

Interesting that there's no mention of the word "pawnbroker" on the news story on our own website. I know we're advertising a currency service but I expected better from United than an association with an industry like this.
Give over. Its a sponsor. Some people over think these things waaaay too much.

Maybe we should get ISIS to sponsor us?
We could have live beheadings as half time entertainment.

It’s either that or an online betting company these days :(

Thats the reality really isn't it? growth businesses, whether you like them or not, are the ones who are going to chuck money at things.

I wouldn’t. So I wouldn’t buy one. It’s not obligatory. I can live without having a current replica shirt, I don’t wear them to matches anyway. If I was that desperate to fit in with the rest of the fat bald 50 year olds I’d get a historic one instead.

Cheeky twat.

I'm 48 :)

We could just use a generic pawn broker image, might enhance the sport bra's ?

So we're apparently ganking Sunlund's home shirt from last season and we've nicked Boro's sponsor.

I did like the Newcastle-style away shirt we had in the Prem though...

2 things I don't understand about this.
1 - Ganking
2 - I did like the Newcastle-style away shirt we had in the Prem though

Verb. gank (third-person singular simple present ganks, present participle ganking, simple past and past participle ganked) (transitive, Internet, online gaming, slang) To kill, ambush, or defeat with little effort; used in online games.

An association with the currency industry?

No, the pawnbroking industry. If it was a separate, standalone business I'd probably feel differently but as far as I can see these currency booths are in the same shops that offer to buy old phones, buy gold, offer pawnbroking loans, cash cheques, etc

Danny, putting aside the financial benefits for the club, do you think this sponsorship reflects well on United and the city?

Do sponsorships ever reflect well on a city? Did Desun apple juice concentrate or whatever it was, or VW? No issues for me

I don’t know why people whinge about the nature of the businesses who sponsor us. I couldn’t care less as long as they put decent money into the club. It’s what happens on the pitch that counts, not who is the shirt sponsor.

Just out of curiosity, who would be the “ideal/perfect” appease all sponsor? Because I doubt there is one.

Visit Maldives. For the half-time giveaways. :)

Thanks for explaining what desun was. I thought it was a beer

Did you ever see those drinks called boobees? It was a little container with a straw molded in, and you twisted the end of the straw to drink it, that's what Desun was basically, well that was the only Desun I ever saw. Me and a friend saw little Desun drink pouch things in Poundland or something around the time they were sponsoring us and we bought it all the time because of the connection. The sponsorship worked, made at least £30 off us.

Could be worse lads Wednesday have just lost a million pound shirt sponsorship deal with dog food producers Winnalott who said they wouldn't be able to do the name justice.;)
