Bring flares and flags and scarfs!!! Let’s get the Lane intimidating and full of atmosphere!!

To our new Owners get the scarfs or flags on the seats for Leeds!!

We’ve not heard much from them but this would be a statement

Heard they might be at Leeds game

More banners at back of Kop.

Would be gnashing my teeth though if we finally got shut of the Kop pillars and the bloke in front of me who is six foot several swapped seats with Warwick Davis only for them to be replaced by giant wavy flags and pizza and pineapple flavoured vape trails blocking my view of my heroes.

All they could do in this regard is something that allows all those who create the atmosphere to get season tickets together. But IMO people still wouldn't bother

It was noticeable how many of you the players commented on the atmosphere after Wednesday night. Words to the effect of "that was more like it."

They obviously are aware of how poor it is most of the time and would prefer we backed them a lot more.

Something needs to change to the effect of a congregated "singing section" or a cheesy ultras movement. Might not be very old school "Sheff Utd" but it would help with the atmosphere and with attracting and retaining a younger audience.

The Leeds game will start with a good atmosphere, no matter what (like most other games).

Its then upto the players and management to keep it.

Play like v Boro, they will get the support or play like v Portsmouth they lose it.

Im a firm believer that its on the players performance to keep the atmosphere.

Just my opinion.

Could non-singing seniors be moved from the Kop to Kop Corner / Westfield Corner?

How do you decide who isn’t going to sing? Interrogate them all individually?

Identify aurally a general ambiance of tutting / curmudgeonness, facial recognition technology for wrinkles and test their resolve with a cheaper price in the new Senior Section.

Might be an idea to offer them a discounted price to do so..... or same price as Kop if need be

It's no kind of full solution though. There are large sections of younger fans together near the back who barely make any noise. IMO no matter what we do, the atmosphere will never return to peak levels. All we can do is keep it on life support and aim for slight improvements

The solution is actually very simple. If folks want the atmosphere back to what it used to be they need to change the trajectory of UK society. Get rid of social media, working from home and all the other fundamental societal changes that have impacted how people interact with each other. Without that they may as well change their names to King Canute because it isn’t going to radically change.

I hate to say it, but use the scabs as our matchday atmosphere inspiration. Their atmosphere used to be wank but it was totally transformed the last three times I went there. Very intimidating. It shows it can be done. The dirties are similar. Both used to be well behind BL.

Well, exactly. It goes much deeper than football. It's an endless list of societal factors, many of which are now irreversible. But the obvious counter there is to point to other European countries in the same situation, where football atmospheres still thrive

In reality you're right, but it shouldn't be the case. Sometimes the players need a lift from us.

They are very different societies though. When I visit other countries I often pick up on a vibrancy that I don’t experience here. That’s why I stipulated UK society. This is actually a very unhappy and pessimistic country at the moment and it manifests in lots of different ways.

While they’re putting scarves on seats they should put those clackers out and some song sheets as well. Bring back Tom Hark for ‘peak atmosphere’. We could also have a band to play the same old monotonous music.

Teams that play attractive attacking football get the crowd going. Wilder Hecky, weir, Adkins, Clough et al nah, Warnock, Bassett yes.
Wilder first stint from league 1 - 9th prem was attacking, slick passing attractive football and some of the best united has ever played. The atmosphere was good from my memory l, but I can't remember what I had for tea yesterday so.

this was just my thought. is that with atmosphere on Wednesday. helped that ref was awful but we are getting to the point where the matches mean something now. & there no real jeopardy in the 1st 6 months of a season. unless its a rival

for alot of the games now are must win & would kept the nerves

Why not ban all those over 70 (other than my wife and I) from the ground and fill the vacant seats with outstanding choristers ?
