Starting to look like same old Sam old isn't it..
New owners in, total silence, no new signings as yet, and reports they're not willing to spend on BBD, who proved he can play in the prem....
Hopefully there's a lot happening behind the scenes, but it's unnerving, especially after deals were supposed to have been agreed according to some sources???

Hashimi is back? :o

It sounds like professional business men.
You don't reveal your hand during a transfer window as competitors know what they're up against and raise the prices accordingly.
Also fan expectation either sores or sinks, leading to unnecessary drama and dissapointment.

Surely it's best for any new owner to stay quiet during the transfer window.
They'll be well aware that they'll be judged on actions, not words then they'll reveal their intentions on early Feb.

Also will our fans ever learn from the past? We had the same "not enough signings" back in late July last year.
and "The Prince is leaving us to rot, we're not signing anyone", "relegation is possible" etc etc. Then we made loads of impressive late signings.

It's common sense, the new owners will be bringing in a few players to strengthen us but the best players have plenty of options so they take time.
Best to wait until the window ends before we judge our business and I'd expect the new owners to do a big launch too regards their plans after the JTW

As much as it sounds great, BBD was supposed to have been agreed, as was Choudhury, and hopefully we still get them, but Wilder said he would have new faces in for Norwich, also said deals would be done early in the window.....oh, and however good business men are, if they don't do a deal for the item or player they want, and it gets sold in the mean time, then sometimes it isn't good business at all!

I just thought that there may have been something concrete by now, even a statement or something from the new owners??

Deals were supposed to have been already in place for when the takeover was completed...

Nowts changed lol

The issue for me is our lack of ability to identify players in the foreign markets for better value. 9 times out of 10 deals that involve English club to English club take ages because it’s seen as this who’s got the biggest bollocks mentality.

What funnier is you have amateur scouts on here using limited data suggesting players that then end up playing top flight football. Yet as a club with access to much more we don’t utilise it properly.

Tip - Go to filters select European data and make British data is unselected.

Indeed, go back to 2019/2020. Quite a few of us were mentioned players like Caicedo who was then at independente del valle..... In fact, Brighton seemed to have bought a fair few players that were mentioned on here 5 years or so back

Just don’t think we have any scouting infrastructure abroad, Wilder has alluded to that in recent interviews.

You would assume that there would be a list of teams who have every high potential player on their lists. It's being at the top of those lists which is the trick.

We've wasted far too much time in the past trying to sign players who are undoubtedly quality (Toney, Watkins, Robinson, Cash etc) but are not realistic. We seem to hope that every other club would decide to pass and they'd settle for significantly less wages than they want.

We need to be doing what we were doing in summer. Being top of the tree of lesser clubs.

"You know, it's a very beautiful shirt, very beautiful. It's a design classic. Very beautiful. And I said to Steven, I call him Steven, we've known each other for a long time, very long time. We go a long way back together. I said to Steven, I said 'Steven, when you change strip at the end of the season..' I said 'when you change the strip at the end of the season, you must keep the stripes on the back. Ok?' I said 'You must keep the stripes on the back, you can't go for one of these plain red backs, that just looks like the China shirt from behind. You must keep the stripes front and back. It's a very beautiful shirt' And stripes on the arm, I told him. Stripes on the arm. I'm very much a stripes on the arm kind of guy. Stripes down the arm and the back. And no black pinstripes. No black pinstripes. I don't know why they put the black pinstripes in, you know? I don't know why. It's not traditional. Red and white stripes, with one of those 1974 flappy collars with the filled in V neck. Very beautiful that. That would look very beautiful and very classy. I told him 'Steven, make sure you put stripes on the back' and he leaned in to me and said 'Mr President, don't you worry. I've got this. We'll have stripes front and back, with black shorts and white socks'. He's a good guy. One of the good ones. I like Steven. I like him a lot and he likes me. Good guy you know. He'll see the club right and I can tell you this, it will be the best kit the club has ever had. Believe me. It will be the best kit in the whole Premier League. It really will. It will be so good, we'll have orders coming in from all over the world. From all over the world. Everyone will want to be seen wearing it. They really will. Best kit in the world. No other team, I guarantee. No other team anywhere will have a kit to match it, they really won't. It won't even be close, let me tell you that, it won't even be close..."
Brilliant. I read that picturing Donal Trump saying it 😂😂😂

Absolute clowns. They’ve had months to line up signings and they’re pissing about putting in offers way below clubs valuations. If this was the Prince he’d be getting pelters but then they aren’t Arabic so they will get an easy ride from our fan base

We’ll never attract truly filthy rich owners. But Abdullah selling us this far into the season meant we had no chance… the JTW is made for those who can spunk far bigger fees than we can. A depleted squad (now barely an XI) that’s done magnificently to be where it is, against let’s face it, 3 financial power houses who can price us out of any replacements we want to make or can hang onto their current star players… we had to do a full rebuild in the summer but it was never possible. Just imagine if Wilder was able to build a full squad in the summer, it’s a shame but this window was never ever gonna save us.

The new owners should put their money where their mouth is and buy the players we need. Instead they’re pissing about and wasting our opportunity. How can we not compete with the likes of Sunderland? We’ve had 2 spells in the prem since they were last in it.

Oh look…. Not such a laughing stock of a thread anymore is it?!

By that reckoning if PA was still here we’d be in exactly the same boat. But if there’s insufficient money now, why would a sale in the summer have made things better? We’d still be shopping at Lidl rather than Waitrose.

Literally everyone should be able to see the JTW is an inflated, desperate mess. How well Wilder did in the summer to try to rebuild an entire squad was remarkable. Assuming the current ownership is prepared to throw a few more pennies than PA was I’d imagine we’d be in an even better position than we currently are.

Well I’m not sure the current ownership is the one to ask in regards to the Premier League money. I’d rather them not match some of the crazy fees being thrown around for players we’re seeing right now and risk us being unable to spend in the summer.

If we don’t go up this year then Hamer, Souza and Blaster are gone and we are without the funds to get replacements. This is our best chance of going up in the next decade. If the owners are serious now is the time to go for it. Forget the summer. To quote Bob Geldof we need the money NOW!

It’s looking, again, like we’re ignoring that premise, and not alone as things seem relatively quiet. All we’re hearing about from media and ahem, itk’rs, is two players. Yet we all know we need another three. Are the club keeping things under wraps or what? When l read about Ashley Barnes a few weeks ago l didn’t feel that confident. I’m still not.

At what price would you walk away from the BBD deal? £10 million? £15 million? £20 million?

There are several areas of the pitch we need to address and many players who can fill these positions at Premiership and Championship level. If Southampton want too much money then move on. Sign someone else. Sort the defence out first as that might be easier but don’t piss about putting in low offers.

Is BBD the only player we can sign?
No, he was clearly the main target but now Southampton are wanting to add extra terms to the deal we’ve pushed the brakes.
Hence why I asked how far would you go before looking at other options, which were also clearly doing. It’s also evidently clear we’ve several bids in all across the pitch to strengthen.
You seem to be under the impression that we operate our transfer deals in a vacuum where you just agree a price and the deal is done. It’s not a computer game, and sides are looking to get the highest possible return. That doesn’t normally mean a quick result unless you’re going for players no one else wants or you blow everyone out the water and pay over the odds. Hence my question about BBD because I reckon if you pay £15m the deal would be done, but it would be stupid to do so. Same for HC, and Cannon but if you pay over the top then you can’t afford them all. If you get good deals you probably can. Which do you want?
