His stubbornness and "I know best" attitude will be his downfall. It'll also make him a lot less attractive to future employers.
Despite winning 92 points we probably earnt closer to 60. We probably had 5 genuinely good performances all season.
We were comprehensively outplayed by Portsmouth and Plymouth AT HOME (we only won because we have Hamer), got smashed by Hull AT HOME, lost against Oxford, Millwall, Plymouth in a shocking run at the most important time, and barely laid a finger on our biggest rivals for promotion.
We continued to play Robinson ahead of the FAR more accomplished Holding, even when Robbo was clearly at fault for numerous goals and nowhere near the standard for a promotion team. Rak Sakyi was continually dropped despite always looking a threat (inconsistent, yes, but always positive and on the front foot which took pressure off our ridiculously deep lying defence after 30 minutes of every game) and finishing as our 3rd top scorer. I'm pretty sure every game had one "wtf is he thinking" decision in the starting line up.
Our top scorer finished on 10 goals. The mighty Josh Windass and Callum Robinson outscored our best players. A lot of fans don't want Jacobsen from Preston but he outscored our best players. This isn't down to our players not being good enough because they clearly are, it's down to our management and tactics not allowing them to do what they are paid to do. It's absolutely no surprise coming from a manager that loved to play Norwood, Fleck and Lundstram behind Sharp and McBurnie in the premier league when we couldn't buy a win.
The Americans will want a degree of entertainment, one of our board members is an expert in fan engagement, there is no way Wilder stays on as manager UNLESS he stops trying to micromanage every part of the club and allows modern ideas, decisions and players to come in to the equation.
