Yeah. .let's go change the manager eh? Cos that's always worked out well hasn't it?...such a joke that one week he's a hero and one defeat later. .let's sack him lol... I haven't been this season. .fed up of the moaning/ whining that I have to sit amongst... and don't forget people it wasn't nc who put us where we are..

Any talk of sacking Clough is throwing the baby out with the bathwater.

As I keep demonstrating, Clough is doing with a bad lot what he can. If you honestly think this lot are capable of getting automatic promotion, let alone maintaining a position in the championship, then you are fucking deluded. The reason Clough doesn't play a striker is we haven't got a fucking striker. We pin our hopes on Higdon suddenly switching on and banging them in (which he won't), Porter is finished at this club (so well done the board for forcing his continued residence in the reserves), McNuts is a hot/cold entity (more cold unless it is given to him) and Baxter is a lazy-arsed midfielder who can hit it, on occasion, when the wind is in the right direction.

No hunger, no passion.

Clough would rather United retain possession and not concede, which, when you have no strike force, isn't bad policy. I think Wilson had us sussed on Saturday and we paid for having no up front outlet. The answer doesn't lie in sacking Clough - we could have Mourinho in at the moment and he will still have the same set of Subbuteo dickheads out there - it lies in Game Changing Investments.

Best be quick, mind. Time is running out.

I can't believe I even bothered opening this thread. 3 defeats in a 10 game run that brought 6 wins and has us 1 point from 3rd and just 5 from the autos. It's fucking November for Christ's sake.

A few months ago it was "we'll never score any goals." That's the first game we haven't scored in for 17 games.

Asking for a new manager is madness.

Yes, because someone coming up with the idea of Nigel doing the away games and cup ties and getting another in to do the home league games was obviously a deadly serious suggestion.

Anyway, did we conclude how best to get that pesky sponsors name off the shirt . . . . .

Heres the rub though, come the end of the season 5 points off the automatic places is worthless unless of course your happy with a play off situation again.

I'm fed up of hearing how close we are, its always catching up from behind rather than people catching up with us. What is that telling you?

Yes, because my post is clearly addressing the idea of Nigel doing the away and cup games and someone else doing the home ones...

The point is, it's questioning his ability. Most of the posts on this thread are addressing the idea of getting rid of Clough, although most are sensibly saying he should stay and that we shouldn't even be discussing it. I would have thought that was obvious.

The point is it's a long hard slog over 46 games. I'd agree with you if we were playing catch up in March, but we're not. We've got a lot of new players, had a slow start and now we're right up there. Don't panic. Cream rises to the top and we have a very good squad at this level (although yes we do need a striker).

My point is we are almost always playing catch up and when we aren't playing catch up we usually get caught.

Getting rid of Clough would be precisely the sort of knee-jerk reaction that we've specialised in over the past 5 years and look how successful that's been.

What should be up for debate, however, is the fact that despite spending more money than almost every other League One side over the summer and having a wage bill which is probably in the top two or three in the division, we find ourselves in 8th place having scored fewer goals than any side in the top half except Fleetwood. That is down to the manager's decisions: his choice of signings in the summer and his tactics in the games so far.

That a serious post? Jesus wept. Let's turn into Leeds shall we. Clough is the first manager we've had for years that actually appears to have the right way of thinking. We've had 6 permanent since the season we got relegated (2010/11), now you want to make that 7??

Sacking Blackwell is what caused this decline. Yes his tactics were shit to watch but he wouldn't have got us relegated.

I can't stand this new thing that chairmen seem to think a change in manager will automatically make things right.

Agree

weve took 12 out of 15 points is another way of looking at it , in 46 games you will lose some games , , it is very disdappointing but it doesnt mean after 1 defeat weve lost the plot, just not got the result in one game .. Clough hasnt become less capable , its the players still finding their feet , , wee are 1 point off 3rd not 5 points adrift at the bottom, we could have drawn last 2 stayed unbeaten and be a point worse off , WHICH IS BETTER

Clough seems far too stubborn. We're desperate for a striker and because he's already said he's happy with what we've got, and the fans are twllinh him otherwise, he isn't going to admit he's wrong and bring someone in. We were non-existent in the final third today. It was pathetic.

please tell your top list of 5 goal scoring strikers available for immediate loaning whos better than what we have

I don't think it's unreasonable to bring that up, but it's only November. We have 31 games left.

Yes we're 8th. But MK Dons are third and they're 1 point ahead of us. I couldn't be less concerned at this stage. There is plenty of time to go.

Agree with you Balham Blade . My view is Mr Clough is consistent , consistent of being stubborn. Just read a article of his time at Burton and Derby when they were under the stewardship of Mr Clough and Mr Clough brother . You could take out the words Burton , Derby and replace with Sheffield United , and it would be true today. We do not want to get rid of Mr Clough . We stick with Mr Clough . Who knows what shit he is having to plough through in the closed doors of BDBL .

Mr Clough knows what he is doing . Fans patience quite rightly gets frayed , but i do not want to think of the dire consequences , if we ever get rid. Lets for once get some stability . He will sort out the signings and tactics , can the board sort out a little extra money . .

True LBofE. Thing is, all you Clough-naysayers, we sack him (and lose more money) and then what? Sheff Utd, big-city shit-club who sacks their managers after a seasons-worth of games? Still stuck in the football league U-Bend? Getting penised by every former league four shithouse outfit for shits and giggles.

Every manager worth his salt would avoid. Or even come to BDTBL just for the sacking handshake.

If the club had bothered to put their hands in their pockets during the transfer window we could have had anyone we wanted (finances/personal terms permitting of course). Even if it's only a loan, there's probably still a ton of players out there that we could get, probably better than we could afford to sign permanently (take Brayford & Coady last season as an example).

That said, we might have the striker we need in McNulty, but because Clough seems reluctant to give him a chance, we don't know.

You've been quiet for a couple of weeks, mate. What did you reckon to Saturday's performance? There was 1 min and 3 second on You Tube to judge it. Hang on, no need to answer, I know. Good to see see you can get your impression of Baxter from that. (For the record, I was there).

I'll reply to that.

Sheffield United 0 - 1 Barnsley

I don't see Baxter on that scoresheet. Do I need to see the highlights, or even be at the game to tell me what I need to know?

I love these 'you know fuck all because you weren't there' posts. They mean billy bollocks, when you look at the scoresheet.

How can you keep slating Higdon in playing time he averages more than a goal a game so does Mcnulty why does the majority of Lane regulars long for them to start.
We can't be all fuckin idiots .

Here is everyone's frustrations summer up: IF HE PLAYED FUCKING STRIKERS WE'D BE IN THE TOP 2. WHAT ON EARTH IS WRONG WITH HIM
