Who do you want as the new manager?

I'm under the impression that Sheffield United are a big city club and should act like one. With that in mind I voted other - other being Allardyce or O'Neill.
You're under the impression that we've got some money and that either of them would take a drop to the Championship

No one in the championship could afford either, and why would either consider it?

I just don't see the point of going for Adams, I mean why sack Blackwell to replace like for like?

Absolutely. Get someone in to add the finesse to the job that Speed started.

To be if this is left to Birch then SOD will be approached. He knows that inorder to clear that £5 Million without taking it out of the wage bill he needs more people turning up.
People won't turn up to watch MA team play and he knows that.

Also and this is harsh on MA but as a fan we don't need to approach him now, he will always want to manage us. Lets see what he does with Vale for another season or two, afterall he hasn't done anything yet with any of his clubs that would make us think he is right for the job.

That said I think its going to be Adams and that will mean I'm unlikely to won't be going week in week out. I'm not turning down work to watch more Blackwell style football.

Bob, Adams is nothing like Blackwell. His sides play to their strengths but most of those he has managed have mixed it up quite well. Fulham and Port Vale being examples. He's a lot smarter than people are giving him credit for.

The only thing that puts bums on seats is WINNING football. If United start winning games and push their way up the other end of the division then people will start coming back. Fans want a successful side over and above anything else.

Pretty football is all well and good but we've tried that a couple of times recently....it didnt work. Perhaps SOD could make it work who knows, but first and foremost I want to see a United side winning, secondly in an exciting way. The way we move the ball about comes second to a lot of things IMO.

I disagree, the crowd wasn't 100% happy when we went to the playoff final. A lot were thinking that we should play as we did against Preston more often.
Also we haven't tried passing football, we've half tried and lost our bottle.

Perhaps so, but that is as much a reflection of the players as it is the manager. IMO we dont have the personnel that SOD would need (at the moment). That's not to say we shouldn't appoint him because we need a quick fix.....I just think we need a manager that is more than a football idealist.

Like I said before, win first....ask questions about the style later. We're in deep shit and we cant afford to experiment with pretty football. If we get relegated forget about welcoming bigger crowds back. Not even SOD's style would pull them through the turnstiles then.

Foxy / Linz,

Please change my vote to SOD if you can. Coppell is not in the frame and I'd like SOD to have the largest majority possible. Would love to get him over 50% then send to the club. Public opinion counts.

Cancel this nonsense!!! It's Coppell for me [and good times ahead for SUFC]!

Actually, No. Forget it. I have the answer. SC for Director of Football; SOD for manager. Sorted.

I used to be indecisive but I'm not so sure whether I am now.

SOD and Adams no thanks.
With one we won't stay up,with the other we might but it will be like watching "the son of Blackwell's" team

I voted for O'Driscoll.

I've expressed why in other threads, but in general I belive he is the man to overhaul SUFC and turn us into a real force.

I'd take Adams an not be too upset, but I think it would be an opportunity missed.

Seems like th voting reflects similar to what I feel. I notice that Adams has just gone ahead to favourites with the bookies, but it is still neck and neck between the two. This two horse race represents a real positve step for the club .... as long as we don't end up with Phil Brown making a late dash!?

SOD now bookies favourite. Jumping all over the place though. I think the betting patterns reflect the fact that none of us have a clue what's going on. The club is doing very well at keeping things hush hush.

Amen to that.

Don't care that he's in love with himself, fond of the Dale Winton look or the stupid microphone malarky.
I just detest the type of team he turned Hull into in their promotion season. Always in the refs face, usually conning him, it was all reminiscent of the Revie Leeds style I hate. Don't let us be turned into referree baiting cheats.

Adams 1/2 and O'Driscoll 6/5 with Sky Bet, but with Victor Chandler it's O'Driscoll 10/11 and Adams 6/4. I can't take all this excitement and anticiptation ..... it's just too much!? I need to go for a sauna (got one in me shed) and then roll around in the snow to chill me out :D

I cant bare it anymore either! I just want to know who its going to be but I fear we wont know until early next week at least.

I dont have the luxury of a sauna in my shed.....northern salary doesnt allow it :D

Perhaps I'll go sit in mine with a cup of coffee and a heater to calm down.

Bloody typical United.

Club tells us fans nowt.

Blackwell out

looks like SOD is the manager who would galvanise Blades together................a change in direction at BDTBL ?

KB came to us when we were in a bit of a rut I seem to remember and took us to the play offs. Do we want a short term measure just for the sake of safety and then be in the Blackwell position again next season. I am not saying that Adams would be KB style but neither is it certain that we would struggle with SOD just because he would want to turn us into a decent footballing outfit. I am pretty sure that if he does decide to come he is cute enough to know that he has a battle on his hands and that he would be confident of keeping us in the division. Would he volunteer for a lost cause? my preference is SOD but I would not be unhappy with MA. Each has their attributes and there are no certainties with either

So... it ended up being the second most popular choice on this poll!

Interesting that whilst he came out top, the ludicrously over-hyped SOD wasn't the choice off 67% of voters despite the fact that he's the best manager ever and Donny play better football than Barcelona.
