If clough doesn't get us up this season Brentford manager (mark warbutton) is to be considered for job. Warburton who got Brentford up last season and is currently sixth place in championship this season is leaving Brentford at end of season anyway because both Brentford and warbutton thinks its best for team

Sounds a bit lame to me

Sounds a bit far fetched and disrespectful to Clough, you know, with him still with a job to do.

When we don't go up this year ( we'll never win in the play offs), I'd strongly urge us to keep Clough in place for another season, why? Because I think his philosophy is right, he sets us up to play football and when we play well, ironically against better sides, we look an exciting team. He seems to fit perfectly with the academy, development side and leading players into the first team. Growing our own is vital and if clough can bring more players through like Reed, Kennedy and the likes as well as developing players like Wallace and Che Adams then we're looking in a good position to push on. You can see with how he's worked with McNulty, Murphy, Flynn and holt to get them playing to their best, it's exciting to think how he'll work with Reed, Che, Wallace, Wallace and Kennedy as they progress.

However, this summer he must only be allowed to buy the following - one big striker, O'Grady for preference, two centre halves and if James Wallace isn't able to get a preseason under him, a strong central midfielder, he needs to get more physicality in the side and move on some of the fringe players that aren't getting close to first team.

The answer isn't always to replace a manager if we don't hit the targets.

I know it doesn't seem to matter to some posters, but we have a manager, we're fighting to get promoted, and even in circumstances like this there are those who still speculate about a new manager? It strikes me as if there's a small minority who consider us on a par with Real Madrid, thus the call for a new manager if we're not at the top of a division each season. No examining of where we are, no looking at the positives, of which there are many, and certainly plenty of exaggeration for effect. It's as if repeating the same weary negatives will eventually make sense. If ever a case existed for moving on it's with this tiresome agenda, but of course, can you ever imagine this limited message ever changing, even softened? No, neither can I.

This is mindless, indefensible, and completely disrespectful (as SwissBlade has already mentioned) to our manager, Nigel Clough.

Totally agree 100% with your replies, I don't get why some fans constantly ask for a new manager I know they get frustrated at times don't we all, Im with you, let's get the young players through like you said NC does get the best out of them UTB

I think this season has been a learning curve for us, the players and NC. Absolutely no guarantees if we bring a new manager in (and forget Warburton, he's playing Brentford like a fiddle). One more season (but only one) in Division Three won't kill us. Didn't think I'd say this, but I think we've no alternative but to stick by NC.

Mind, if we lose tomorrow night...:D

Tend to agree, the revolving door hasn't really stopped since after Warnock left (which is why I've stayed away from the Clough related threads, even after the sore defeats).

Some stability and time to regroup is needed at this club. It does feel like there is a longer term plan/goal (even if it has gone slightly awry).

Like everyone, I'd be disappointed if we don't go up this year, but I'm not sure I'd like to be spinning the dice again!

Same story as before for me. I'd give him until Christmas if we don't go up, and by then we should be looking certs for automatic.

2 years is enough given our lowly position and resource.

I really hope Clough succeeds. At its' worse it's as bad as I've seen. At its' best it's as good as I've seen.

If he could only throw caution to the wind a bit more often.

UTB

So we get rid of Clough and bring Warburton in. And he brings his 'right-hand man'. Weir.......................

Thing is graf, it would create the unusual effect of posters having something to complain about. Not something we're used to I must admit, so I'm wondering what anyone would complain about?

Warburton being "considered" is the biggest give away that this isn't true.

Warburton will have a lot of Job offers in the summer, and they won't be league one clubs.

I know we have been inconsistent (it has been maddening on some days this season), but that is partially a sign of the team's developing nature and partially an indication of how we have struggled on the injury front. We have a talented, committed, close-knit group of lads, who are thrilled to wear our shirt and to serve under the direction of our gaffer. They believe in each other, and want to play for each other. Those factors always eventually show through. When you are trying to build something organically (which is what we are trying to do), the worst thing you can do is lose patience and indulge the impulse to make knee-jerk changes. Maybe all of us have felt that impulse this season. I am really grateful for and inspired by the patience our fans have shown this season. We may have all wanted to pull our hair out from time to time, but standing by the gaffer and the lads has been the right call, I think, and will help to ensure we achieve what we all want before it's all said and done at the end of May.

Its the , - has been the right call , i think - that worries me

We all know what boards are like , say one thing , and do another.

surprised at you being so negative about the play offs swiss.I am sure we can win them this team is capable of beating both mk and swindon and whoever makes it with us(lets bag a spot first we still have some work to do) .We are showing signs of real quality and when the players relax we are a very good team at this level. Our failures in the past are in the past so lets be positive and be on the front foot

I think the board are very smart. I hate it when there are managerial changes after a bad run, I mean what are you going to do? Get a new manager in who is incapable of bad runs?
Managers should be in for the long run, not saying you should keep shit ones but Clough can do the job. He got it right last year, he can get it right again. No-one gets it right all of the time anyway.

I would be interested to know just how you believe we are capable of beating either MKD & Swindon, one over 2 legs and the other at wembley ?

Personally, I've seen absolutely no evidence of this all season and still cannot see it happening.

at ourbest we are capable of beating anyone in this league as our results have shown, yes we are beatable as well but lets put a
positive spin on it we seem to be getting everyone fit at the right time including higdon we can do it!! COME ON YOU BLADES.

We are the blades, when the time comes we will cut the opposition to shreds, the playoffs are there to be taken and we will prevail, let's not talk of defeat but of glory. Hallelujah. UTB

finlay, sometimes the only thing that matters is faith, and you, fella, have it in spades. Good for you. I may be a tad reserved in the optimism stakes, but perhaps there are times when the likes of myself can get back to just realising that there are no half measures when it comes to the Blades, we're YOOONIITEDD and that's all that matters UTB!

Common Sense....a very uncommon quality!
