New investment to be announced?

If we don't get promoted this season, we're a shoe-in next after Jan Van Winckel's overseas scouting network pays dividends :)

My own opinion is that whenever the hierarchy at our club mention investment, it's always on a scale that's well below fans expectations

It's never on a scale that competes with parachute payments or billionaire owners chucking the kitchen sink at it

The only way I see us getting anywhere near the top is to continue to build the squad. It will be slow and it will frustrate, but CW has transformed us into a competitive outfit in a relatively short space of time. Next phase for me, is to slow down on recruitment numbers, but increase on quality. By that I mean we don't require 5 players in the summer of similar level of quality to what we already have, but perhaps two players in key areas of upper Championship quality that will improve the first team.

Easy I know for me to say that, but perhaps if Brooksy regains his fitness and attracts the same level of interest to the big clubs as previously, then that's where the funds will materialise to realise the above

Incidently, I think that is why whenever CW says Brooksy isn't for sale, he always says he isn't for sale ................... ................in January!

What a load of pooh 58, I want success and investment now, it is the BladeyMcBladeFace way! All this stability and fan harmony is feckin unsettling and does nothing for baiting debate on the forum after a defeat. ;)

Think Liverpool
As soon as we get promoted investment
HRH will put money in and km would match it

Not looking for an argument just making the point they made promises and set expectations that they have failed to deliver on. One good thing they've done is bringing in CW, he won't bullshit or mislead fans
How many titles have Liverpool won since the Prince came on board, and how many have we won?

We're a lower half budget, top 6 crowds and on TV loads. Will still make a loss of millions that the Prince and Kevin cover. Suggests long term all this spending isn't sustainable in the league.

If things carry on as is we will see some very big clubs go pop, finally we seem to be on the straight and narrow with a steady set up. I’d take where we are now over or all or bust any day of the week. No shame in what we are achieving with what we are spending..

The backroom staff are working wonders with what is a Sustainable budget.

Been hearing this for, what 20 years? I wouldn’t put money on any big club going bust any time soon.

Pompey and Bolton have been in a shocking mess, but they keep a trading!

Those were aspirations not lies. There’s no dark conspiracy.

Excitable Kevette,we all know Brooks will be sold in the summer, how can you defend a man who is so clearly holding us back?

Those who have been in the premier league recently can spend daft money on players- some teams gamble with the club and fail ( the pigs) or gamble and go up ( Wolves this season Bourmemouth). We tried gambling once and it nearly broke the club. Want the club to gamble again ?
Success or Failure is irrelevant as long as we SPEND!

Entitlement? Where do people get this sense of entitlement from?

All this is really becoming very tedious, constantly raking up the same drivel and negativity.
As soon as we hit a bad patch (where if a neutral was watching would say we haven’t had the results the performances merited I might add), we have folk crawling out from under their stone, over the moon that they can again spout their misery in what I can only assume is the hope that they can bring folk down the their level of doom and gloom.

What’s worse, is not one of them can come up with a sensible or realistic alternative to the current owners and their “tight fisted” ways of propping up a club losing millions every season!
They just expect them to cough up an extra 10-20 million on top of what they already put in, as if that was just a bit of spare money laying around doing nothing.

To those spouting the negative crap, listen hard and listen good. We don’t have a bottomless pit of money. Running a football club isn’t easy, and it’s made even harder when rival clubs have budgets and finances to tempt pretty much any player they want. United and all the staff are working extremely hard to keep this club moving forwards, and I think a little perspective needs to be considered.

Don't disagree, but not to the original levels kev quoted with his Liverpool analogy
He never stated any figures but you seem to have completely missed/forgotten the analogy.
It was a reference to how Man City had gotten to where they were - use big money to virtually buy a team instantly compared to the Liverpool way of steady improvement over seasons and often bringing their own youngsters through.
No-one was saying that we were going to start spending at PL levels

Speculatetoaccumulate.

Throsummunnyatit.

That's doubtful. We've just extended existing contracts and signed new contracts. Unless CW can offload quite a few players we won't be buying.
You are just being contrary for the sake of it. Do you really think we won't sign any players in the summer? I am willing to bet you any amount you specify that we do.

Nope, he didn’t. That was said by someone no longer employed by the football club. Those comments have been addressed though, with the person who did say it confirming that he regretted it.

I never understood that 'Liverpool investment' statement

I always thought it meant we were going to get the Kop sorted out.

We might not have openly spent massive amounts on players, but to be fair they've also had to spend quite a lot since then in paying off managers who have failed in order to get us finally in the position we are in now. That is, with the right manager in charge, the mess from the previous two cleared up, and a team that is playing entertaining football and challenging for promotion to the Premier League.

I'm happy with the way it is at the moment.

I’ll double it. It’s as near a certainty as a forecast can be.

In circumstances whereby all were unanimous that we’d do very well to stay out of a relegation struggle. Seems so long ago...

I am happy as well , it's not what you pay for your team it's how much they are worth now , how much would oconnell , fleck , Clarke bash am , coutts etc be worth ? A lot of money I suspect .

I guess if I Think about it by Pop I don’t really mean bust. But take Norwich for example they are losing huge amounts and are shedding players to try relieve the financial pressure, if expect them to go down next year. A number of clubs nose dive due to financial miss management. I guess this is what I really mean.

I tend to pay attention to what the owners actually say, not build myths about "Investment".

The Prince gave a long, comprehensive interview to James Shield and said absolutely nothing about "looking for investment" he concentrated on how the owners could help the club improve which they have done.

The only side reference was if someone with buckets of money turned up he would stand aside.

"I would never be selfish, I would never stand in the way of Sheffield United being successful. If someone said, we want the club and we will put £100m in, I would be very reasonable."

Sadly, the car park hasn't been blessed with queues of billionaires lining up to buy the club. Still we can carry on wishing the owners were wealthier than they are.

If it's gonna happen I recon it will be in the next few days.

HRH was actively looking for fresh investors we were told at the start of this season. If he's found any it will be same tactics as his arrival, announce just after transfer window.

Looking at our budget we have a budget team, budget owners but a first rate manager. Loans and signings happening with our contemporaries pushing for promotion / playoffs shows our owners are not up for it, have lied re think Liverpool investment and let the club/fans down.

Meh, same old.
i’m happy with how we are progressing.. the Wolves model has got disaster written all over it

I understand the walk before run strategy. Especially given its our 1st season back at this level for some time.

And I don’t want us to do a Bolton and go broke.

But it must be frustrating for the gaffer to constantly be asked, when all around are investing heavily, to run everything on a shoestring budget.

Top 6 aspirations. Bottom 6 budget.

It’s not tenable going forwards.

UTB
Top 6 aspirations from whom? I don't remember anyone at the club stating this for this season.
