If it's gonna happen I recon it will be in the next few days.

HRH was actively looking for fresh investors we were told at the start of this season. If he's found any it will be same tactics as his arrival, announce just after transfer window.

Looking at our budget we have a budget team, budget owners but a first rate manager. Loans and signings happening with our contemporaries pushing for promotion / playoffs shows our owners are not up for it, have lied re think Liverpool investment and let the club/fans down.

Meh, same old.

What lies have been told over the last 18 months ?

Team we bought on a budget but we are no longer a budget team imo. If we wanted to assemble a team of similar quality we would need to be spending the money other teams are spending.

It'd be nice to be able to afford to shortcut the hard work and just get people in, and it'd be nice to be able to afford a new Kop and stuff, but it's more risk.

We're just up from League One and are now nicely established, but I think most owners would hold off on giving a blank cheque book to a newly promoted team.

If we don't get funds in the summer whether we go up or not then maybe it'll be the time to complain, but so far with the money we have, we've got good players in and the club is moving forward.

if you listen carefully to CW's interview after home defeat to Villa , he is basically saying that his budget team will always "have a right toe to toe go against the big boys , but in the end the latter possess some quality which wins them tight games".
And in the end , he will manage in the Premiership , so it's up to our owners to decide with whom that will be.

Probably the first time in years that we’ve given all our best players big pay rises
And not sold any of our top players and we’ve even brought in 4 players, all expecting to play in the 1st team.

Some fans were convinced Brooks would be sold
This has to be one of our best January transfer Windows ever. Can anyone think of a better one?

Those who have been in the premier league recently can spend daft money on players- some teams gamble with the club and fail ( the pigs) or gamble and go up ( Wolves this season Bourmemouth). We tried gambling once and it nearly broke the club. Want the club to gamble again ?

Understand the sentiment but I disagree, it’s impossible to compete with PL parachute payments.
Are you wanting a big increase in admission prices so we can all show ambition?
And do you want us to risk everything and either do a Bournemouth or a Portsmouth?

I’d say we’re doing things right, so far.
Steady progress and gradually notch up the investment/ ambition but no 15 million signings or £30,000 a week players.

I understand the walk before run strategy. Especially given its our 1st season back at this level for some time.

And I don’t want us to do a Bolton and go broke.

But it must be frustrating for the gaffer to constantly be asked, when all around are investing heavily, to run everything on a shoestring budget.

Top 6 aspirations. Bottom 6 budget.

It’s not tenable going forwards.

I’d say big pay rises is going some isn’t it? Moderate at best. From what CW has said in interviews Clarke in particular could have earned a lot more elsewhere..

I are though very happy with this window and blown away by where we are this season.

I can’t actually see a better opportunity to invest than us in the league

If things carry on as is we will see some very big clubs go pop, finally we seem to be on the straight and narrow with a steady set up. I’d take where we are now over or all or bust any day of the week. No shame in what we are achieving with what we are spending..

The backroom staff are working wonders with what is a Sustainable budget.

What is it with people expecting instant success? Grown men acting like spoiled children.

We have invested a decent amount and steadily increased the quality of the squad over the past 18 months.

We're going about it properly, building a strong, hard-working and capable squad within sensible financial parameters.

We have a plan for the short, medium and, crucially, long-term.

It's still well within our capabilities to reach the playoffs and challenge for promotion this season - a remarkable feat when you consider that we would have all been very happy with consolidation at the start of our first campaign back in the Championship.

If we don't reach it, we'll strengthen yet again in the summer and give it a real go next year.

In an age where clubs are spunking money left, right and centre, we're one of the few doing it the right way. We should all be proud of what we've achieved so far and what we've got going on at this football club.

Because times have moved on and we are in the championship. So what lies have been told ?
Think Liverpool
As soon as we get promoted investment
HRH will put money in and km would match it

Not looking for an argument just making the point they made promises and set expectations that they have failed to deliver on. One good thing they've done is bringing in CW, he won't bullshit or mislead fans

Complete bollocks
The Liverpool quote was based on us getting out of L1 taking at the most 2 seasons not 6 seasons
The owners have hired and sacked managers and staff and have spent a large amount of money propping up a loss making L1 club, Since HRH has come in football has changed dramatically with the amount of money being spent in the Championship no better example of Cardiff paying £6m for the fucking washing machine

Weve had a fantastic transfer window in my opinion. Wilder got all his transfer targets in in this window (some long term) and all business done nice and early too. I'e never been so relaxed on Jim White day. Strangely enough, I didn't want us to sign anyone today either.

Pleased as punch with the club at the moment. People should remember just how far we have come in such a short space of time. It wasn't that long ago we had the likes of Woolford and Hammond playing for us.

If we don't reach it, we'll strengthen yet again in the summer and give it a real go next year.

That's doubtful. We've just extended existing contracts and signed new contracts. Unless CW can offload quite a few players we won't be buying.

Agreed by our standards. But, we can't stay in contention or be in contention in the future in today's market even with wilder getting the best L1 players and getting them to work miracles.

I hope Pedro Verde right and I'm talking bollocks (I usually am) and we get into playoffs and get promoted. Just concerned we've seen #peakBlades

Each to their own, but got to say I'm chuffed with how it's gone this transfer window. Kev & Abz deserve a hell of a lot of credit for the backing they've given. And Wilder, Mitchell, Scheiber et al continue to do the absolute business.

A proper football club doing things the proper way IMO.

You mean extended the contracts of our best players (Fleck, O'Connell, Clarke, Duffy, Brooks etc) thus keeping them at the club and increasing their value should someone look to buy them (not to mention rewarding them for their fine form)?

Past evidence has proved we have the means to add players... Leonard, Evans, Holmes were all signed permanently just this month? We have no reason to doubt we'll be stronger after the next transfer window, and the one after that...

Why limit lies to 18 months when we were sold a 5 year plan with clear milestones of Championship, investment, PL and Europe?

You little tinker ;)

It’s not tenable going forwards.

It seems to be our only option.

I wouldn't say it's impossible to compete with a smaller budget either. Wilder has consistently improved the side every transfer window, and we're currently 7th, in our 1st season.

Until now it seems we've been expanding the squad and we've been left with great depth. I think the tactic now will be to gradually improve the quality, spending larger amounts, on fewer players.
If we still can't afford the finished product, (which may be likely when looking for a forward) then we'll have to buy someone young and unproven and hope that the coaching team can get them there. :)

Fair enough , I quite like the Championship myself , but I'd hate to lose Chris.

As long as Wilder and Knill are here the lack of serious money is not that big of an issue as I believe we will be a competitive Championship side who won’t be relegated.

(The three key words there are “As long as” )

Explain how we haven't invested this year? Our team is far stronger than it was back in May.

Don't disagree, but not to the original levels kev quoted with his Liverpool analogy

I liked this post so much, I made it official & hit the ‘like’ button.

Couple of things.
Maybe, just maybe, some of the posters on here actually are spoiled children? Nothing against the younger generation (I even have one of my own) but they do seem to expect it all ‘now’ don’t they?

Our squad looks better than it has for yonks. The January Window acquisitions have all added good options & for me Evans particularly looked quality on Tuesday.

Patience is a virtue & as Guinness drinkers know, good things come to those who wait. They’re coming - all we need is just need a little patience (thank you Axl Rose).

UTB’s!!

You need to listen to the interview again as you have taking it out of context and it wasn't said by either if the owners if I recall correctly

Surely setting expectations is an aspiration rather than lies ?
