In his RS interview after the match last night, MA claimed he will now start putting in some youth players and players from the 'developement squad'. Reactions to this anyone?

5 games left...should be enough time for the good ones to do a Kyle Walker, i.e. make an impression and be sold over the summer.

My worry is the same as your's Revolution... Harry Maguire looked a brilliant player when he came off the bench last night.

As soon as he comes to wider attention via the Youth Cup Final he's as good as gone, like Jacob Mellis.

It's no good putting the kids in who've been playing decent football and then telling them to forget all that and just worry about lumping it into the box as quickly as you can.

I saw us at least try and pass it from the back last night, despite how rubbish we seem to to be.

Sounds like a plan to me. Relegation is as good as confirmed now (it was before the game really) so lets give the youngsters/development players the experience they need. With nothing but pride to play for I would get them out there and just tell them to enjoy themselves, look for the simple pass and not to put themselves under any undue pressure. This is a great opportunity to educate them against first team opposition.

For the record I thought Maguire looked a real prospect last night. Big unit, good in the air and comfortable on the ball. Made a great tackle at one point (I think on Bellamy). It was the first time I had seen the lad and I was quite impressed. He should start Saturday in place of Collins.

He wouldnt drop Collins, it would be Lowry who made way as he'll be gone next season. The prospect of Maguire being paired with Collins next season is even more harrowing a prospect, just what we need Collins wealth of experience to help the lad develop!

My worry with blooding too many youngsters now is that they will be playing in a poor side, with its confidence totally shot to pieces.

It may damage there progression losing every week, alongside the likes of Collins, Doyle , Henderson et al.

in that case i'd put the entire youth team out and say to them.. don't worry about winning.. its just for experience.. see what happens .. can't be any worse than the present shite.. that said i'm 'already' worried about macguire and he's only played half an hour .. because maccabe will sell him.

Take Collins, Doyle and Bogdanovic out IMO. Replace them with a spine of Maguire, Harriott and Slew. I would then give young McAllister and Tonne the odd appearance from the bench. That would be enough at the moment as far as the youngsters go.....better not to over-do it.

Also we need to put Lowton back at right back. He's done ok in midfield but as long as he's there it means Nosworthy will be playing!

The first I heard of this "blooding" the youth and how important it is to protect them was from Warnock. I thought it was bullshit then and I think it's bullshit now. The crowd at Bramall Lane, for all our faults, never do anything but encourage youth players. There was a time when, if a player was good enough to play, he'd play - regardless of his age. I don't understand why that philosophy has been replaced with some namby-pamby kid-gloves bollocks.

I'm going to say this now, probably just on the back of last night and the touch of euphoria about a good prospect, but if Maguire had been Morgan's replacement from the start then we wouldn't have shipped anywhere near the number of goals we have.

4months later than planned McCabe needs to show us he understands. my hope for the future is.

1. Sack Birch, Adams, Cork etc;
2. Bring in Coppell to oversea the whole club.
3. Bring in Pemberton (who used to play for coppell for palace) to run the 1st team
4. Don't sign anyone over the age of 23.. no more nosworthy, bent, doyle, collins etc;

Players to come into the 1st team squad next season

Long, Maguire, Harriott, Slew, Tonne

Other players to look at before next season

Philliskirk, McAllister, Connolly, Ironside

The potential is already at the club. Please for the love of god don't waste it.

I've seen enough from Harry Maguire in 130 minutes (90 vs. Villa youth, 40 vs. Cardiff) to know we have a gem. After the initial five minutes of disorganisation at the back when he came on, Maguire won EVERYTHING, just like he did against Villa youth. He has got to start now. Forget Collins, take the hit. Get him alongside Lowry - I wouldn't mind seeing us go for Lowry, not done much wrong for me - and look for Morgan-Maguire next season. You have to hold hands up and admit you got it wrong sometimes and Adams - if he is here in August - needs to accept that Collins is not good enough at all.

The loan players we have are a debate: weeks ago, MA said that they were all playing for a possible deal with SUFC except for Nosworthy. I doubt Riise will be interested in League 1 and doubt we could afford him but that leaves Mattock, Lowry, Bent. IMO, Bent can bugger off but Mattock might be worth a look (impressed me more since return from injury, good link play with Quinn) and I'd snap up Lowry like a shot (young, strong, dependable). How likely is it that we could get them in League 1?

Next season:

GK: Simonsen, Aksalu, Long
FB: Lowton, Mattock, Kozluk
CB: Morgan, Maguire, Lowry, Kennedy (Yth)
CM: Montgomery, Williamson, Harriott, Whitehouse, McAllister
W: Quinn, Tonne, ???
ST: Henderson, Bogdanovic, Ironside, Slew, ???

Obviously there are more in development that I don't know well enough to judge. I'm not entirely happy with Hendo/Boggy but I can see us shipping either out. There are questions over Monty, Lowry and Mattock staying, maybe Quinn and Willo too. But I think with a couple more sensible additions, that could be a squad that would challenge for the Play Off places in L1.

Of course, I might be talking b*****ks but it's my 2pworth.

I think your being a bit harsh on Lowry, however Maguire does take his slot

Where does the lad Kennedy play btw? Also, what is he like? See his name mentioned fairly often but dont know a great deal about him compared to the others.

Good luck on that, because most of it is not going to happen.

Also.... not sign anyone over 23? Why not?
Get Coppell in? Really?

Because any 28 year old we are going to sign is going to be a free transfer or loan.... ie Doyle, collins, Bent etc;

Do you want more of them? Name a good 28 year old we have a chance of signing?

I said he was a good player who I'd keep - I didn't criticise him. Did you mean harsh?!!!

Has Jamie Ward left for good? Would be very effective in League One IMO. May need a new manager tho as Adams took against him.

I keep forgetting Wardy. It depends on whether Adams is here. Also, I suspect Derby will make an offer for him as he has scored a few goals there. Money talks at t'Lane.

He's a central defender, plays alongside Maguire. I've only seen him once but he was excellent at defending. Needs some time still as he put the U18's in trouble at times but then recovered it well. Maguire overshadows him but he looks useful to me. Probably a squad player next season and then replacing Maguire when we inevitably sell him.

You said anyone over 23 though, not 28.....
Also this player you want me to name, does he have to be 28, or can it be there abouts?

Problem with Kennedy is that he's a bit short. Not necessarily something that will stop him becoming a centre back but needs to be bloody good if he doesn't grow much more.

He certainly looks good next to Maguire who generally does the physical stuff.

He may develop into a full back or even a defensive midfielder if he can't fill out a bit.
