Bring in new manager then pull rug

I'm hoping they aren't hiring the new guy and allowing him to select the canteen menu and gardeners.

From under him by selling players.

Unless the new manager wants said players sold, surely the owners won't fuck the guy in this way?

Hmmm, bet they do....
It depends what the players want and what money is offered for them. If a team offers us £25mil for Hamer and he wants to go then sell him. It's a good deal for everyone.

I have no problem with selling players if the fee is a good deal. My problem is not reinvesting it into a replacement or other players.

We didn't do this under McCabe as the fees mysteriously disappeared. The Prince had no money so any fees got absorbed into the wage bill and general running.

Our new owners seem to be a different financial kettle of fish. If we sold Hamer for £25mil I'd like to think this would go straight back into recruitment.

I don't know why our fans still view selling players as negative and evil. Did Brighton get their knickers in a twist when they sold McAllister? Did Brentford fans get their knickers in a twist when they sold Toney? We are nothing different and while you're still in the Championship you're less likely to hold on to players who are good enough for the Premier League.

Just because we did something in the past doesn't mean we'll keep doing it now. Seriously, some of our fans are such hypocrites, accusing Wednesday of living in the past when a lot of our fans are equally guilty of this. "Don't sack Wilder, he was great for us in the past." "Don't sell players, we always do this and the club keeps the money."

Selling players is nothing new. It's been happening for decades. Where have you been?

I also feel like we might see less panic buys under the new ownership. If we know Hamer is likely to go, then they do, they will be identifying targets (whether using AI or not doesn't matter).

If we sold Hamer for £25m. We could buy 10 Michael Coopers and have change to start work on the new academy space.

Some players are more replaceable that others and that is then whether we want to hold onto them or not.

If we sold Hamer for £25mil then I'd expect this to be spent on a replacement. Right now the owners have brought in future potential who can hopefully be developed into first team players. They have no baring on the current team and the manager has time to improve them. It's a low risk free hit for everyone.

They haven't signed any first team players yet as they have been waiting to decide who the manager will be.

We may well use AI to identify a replacement for Hamer in the above scenario, but suddenly we're looking at very different data as we'll be looking at established current players, not up and coming 18 or 19 year olds to replace him.

I'm sure we'll see a mix of both using this approach. Future potential and ready made players. The replacement for Hamer might well be an unheard of, untested player from abroad, but so was Hamer when Coventry signed him. That turned out alright for them.

100% agree.

I have it on good authority that Selles is just a Yes Man.

Someone on here and Doreen on Blade2Blade on Facey confirmed it.

McCabe would hint that selling meant we had a replacement lined up, which he then re-phrased in answer to the question of 'when will we see replacements?' was 'His replacement is already AT the club'

Beattie sold for £2.5mil.
Jamie Ward bought for £330k as a replacement. The other £2mil mysteriously disappeared, never to be seen again.

"There's no bigger Blade than me."
