In my time nothing has changed ... except players are desperate to be touched and fall down compared to being desperate to stay up when they are kicked hard.

Players enjoyed the mud compared to blaming a mistake on a worm cast on a billiard table.

Players had long hair and sideboards compared to man buns.

Players drank hard and smoked, compared to being physical gods who could only play 70 minutes without risking season-long injuries.

The circle of life is a fabulous journey, and you don’t turn into a miserable old sod - it just looks like that to other people!

Those precious moments of getting to the top of the steps with your son before a game and looking down at the pitch won’t ever change.

My son jack was born at 0956 this morning. Missus and him should be home from hospital well ahead of West Brom Saturday night. His first game in the real world blades 2 0 West Brom.

Congratulations Mr & Mrs Mike, but i have already been in touch with NSPCC, the white van will be turning up about 7pm tomorrow..not for little one but for you....
