Come on, Warnock never signed a bad player, never suffered embarrassing defeats and didn't take 7 years to produce a successful team.

2003 apart, there was plenty of shite served up during his tenure.

He didn't take 7 years to produce a successful team.
He took 2 1/2 years to produce the 2002-2003 team (Championship Play-Off Finalists, FA Cup Semi-Finalists, League Cup Semi-Finalists).
Then he took another 2 years to build the 2005-2006 team (Championship runners-up, Auto promotion to the Premiership)

Before you reply with "well the 2003 team weren't successful" consider what we would give for a team of that calibre and entertainment value now.

Are you seriously suggesting that what we witnessed under Warnock is in any way, shape or form comparable to what we've seen since he left?

Geoff Horsefield? Tommy Black? 2m for Akinbiyi? Cant remember if he didnt sign Ashley Ward as well. Lets not totally lose our marbles eh?
Akinbiyi's goal and subsequent manhug against the pigs was worth £2M of anybody's money. (Not mine though obviously.)

Sorry if I don't wear the same rose coloured specs as you over Warnock and what he achieved.

If you can quote where I suggested the situations are the same then I'll happy concede.

Otherwise denying that we played shit under Warnock on more than a few occasions and treating him as a manager who could do no wrong is a point that isn't worth arguing.

It's a good job that nobody is arguing that point then.

It's got nothing to do with 'rose coloured specs'. Warnock was in charge for 388 matches. The law of averages says there are likely to have been a fair few poor performances amongst those. There were also poor performances under John Harris, Dave Bassett and Ian Porterfield. But you have to look at Harry Haslam and Martin Peters to find anything that approaches what we are witnessing now.

Warnock made mistakes and signed poor players. He just did fewer of those things than any manager we've had since he left and many of the managers we had before he arrived. In short, yes he did do wrong, but a lot less wrong than most.

I wish we were as shit as a Warnock side right now.

Six points from last two games and tough ones at that, for Warnock.

What we wouldn't give for a bit of that form.

I would rather he take over for at least one season. Get us out of this division and then move upstairs to a Derek Dooley type role, if he wanted to.

Eight promotions. Most achieved on a small budget. Best CV of any current lower league manager.

If he hadn't managed us before, approaching him would be a no-brainer. If McCabe cared for the club at all, he would swallow his pride and ask Warnock to help dig him out of his hole.

Mcabe did care for the club. He gave Warnock a free reign and money to save us from relegation. What did he do he bought. Fathi. Shelton,Akinbayi, Horsefield, and Dean Windass. He fell out straight away with Windass who never played, and Horsefield who i think played once. Fathi played twice i think and Akinbayi and Shelton were in and out. What a great judge of a player. Spent money like water hoping to get it right. No wonder Mcabe sacked him. Big time Charlie........no season ticket for me if he returns........Total Liability and totally siglehandedly turned the FA hierarchy against the club. That must be quite hard to do, but he did it.

Still our most succesful post war manager

To be unbiased he did a great job. However if you for one minute look at Bassetts record of getting us up 2 divisions in 2 seasons, then keeping us there, a cup semi, a double over the filth, finishing ninth. Wouldnt even Warnocks biggest fan concede that was a bigger achievement?

Warnock never had the rug pulled from under him like DB either.

Apparently 2 cup semis and the play offs gets you fired these days. Oh and you dont get 2 seasons to build a team either.

Some truth in here but grossly unfair on what he genuinely did achieve. I dont like the man but you cannot deny there were fantastic times when he was in charge.

Windass never played? Really, I suggest you look at the stats then. Apparently for someone who didn't play he scored 6 goals in 20 appearances. What you are probably getting confused about is that he didn't play in that awful play off final at Cardiff having fallen out with Warnock. Personally we were so abysmal that day I don't think it would have mattered if we had had Messi in the team.

Just look at the crowds
