Neil Warnock

Honestly I dont know who we have signed. Adkins has already said in an interview a week or two ago that recruitment plans for this summer are already in place ( or something like that). Many clubs have realised they have been making mistakes in their summer recruitment policy because they didnt act as early as January so more clubs are now making plans as early as they can

It's hush hush and everything under wraps now at BL. The signings being considered are all now under code names to throw people off the scent. Up to now we've done deals with players known as Hammford . Colverly, Sammllins, Woolond and McCoutts

Ha ha!

So why do these fuckers let Cardiff and Millwall fans out onto Bramall Lane?

Some law was brought in where coppers can't keep you locked in the ground anymore. This will be their new tactic although from what I've heard it didn't really work as you still got piggies merging from the other side.

Warnock wouldn't put the slackers and trouble makers out on loan. He'd get into their heads first and make em think they're the best player at the club. That was his style, all Warnock players would run through a brick wall for him.

That'd be no good. We still need to get eleven of the fuckers out on the pitch on a Saturday afternoon. There'd be nob'dy left.

Apart from players he signed then fell out with after five minutes.

Barry Hayles.
Geoff Horsefield.
Luke Beckett.

Any more?

What I find shocking about that video is towards the end you can see youngsters 5/6 years old joining in. Their parents should be visited by social services (if they haven't already).

Maybe by saying he wasn't concerned what had gone on before and he offering them all a clean slate and publicly supporting the players in any interview....:)

Neil Warnock was a big fan of Brian Clough (who, in turn, said that Neil Warnock was one of only two or three managers, that he rated). Brian Clough was a master of this. If you ever read his biography or auto biography, you will know what I mean. With one of the players, I think it was John McGovern?, the player had been having an awful time of it in the first half, everything going wrong. At half time, Cloughie, says calmly, in front of the rest of the team "John, what's going on out there?, you are the BEST crosser of the ball in this country, there is no one can do what you can do, no one with the skill level. Now, have a rest and then go out and show me what I already know, that you are the best."

So the player goes out and plays out of his skin in the second half, delivering ball, after ball, after ball, into the box for the strikers.

Also, going slightly off topic, Clough was the epitome of "old school", but he got the results.

".....
In Clough's first season, the club finished one place lower than in the previous season, but he had started to lay the foundations for his future success by signing several new players, amongst them Roy McFarland, John O'Hare, John McGovern, Alan Hinton and Les Green. Of the inherited squad, eleven players departed and only four were retained: Kevin Hector,Alan Durban, Ron Webster and Colin Boulton. Clough also sacked the club secretary, the groundsman and the chief scout, along with two tea ladies he caught laughing after a Derby defeat.[15] With the additional signings of Dave Mackay and Willie Carlin in 1968, Clough and Taylor's management led Derby to become champions of Division Two, establishing the club record of 22 matches without defeat on the way.

Clough was universally seen as a hard but fair manager, who insisted on clean play from his players and brooked no stupid questions from the press. He was famous for insisting on being called 'Mr Clough' and earned great respect from his peers for his ability to turn a game to his and his team's advantage. Derby's first season back in Division One saw them finish fourth, their best league finish for over 20 years, but, due to financial irregularities, the club was banned from Europe the following season and fined £10,000.

In 1970–71 the club finished 9th. In February 1971 Clough bolstered his squad by signing Colin Todd for a British record £175,000; on the same day Clough had denied that Derby were about to buy Todd. During the 1971–72 season, Derby tussled with Liverpool, Leeds United and Manchester City for the title. Derby topped the league table by one point after playing their final match, a 1–0 win over Liverpool. Manchester City did in fact top the league after playing their last match, but had no chance of actually winning the title due to fixtures between the clubs directly below them. Both Liverpool and Leeds United had a chance to overtake Derby by winning their final matches (played a week later due to fixture congestion) but in the event Leeds lost to Wolves and Liverpool drew at Arsenal, meaning Derby were league champions for the first time in their 88-year history. Peter Taylor took the players on holiday to Majorca. Clough was not with the squad at the time, instead holidaying in the Isles of Scilly with his family and elderly parents when he received the news....."

John Robertson not John McGovern

Another fantastic win tonight, and results elsewhere going in their favour too.

Jokingly in the shout box I suggested that we ask Warnock to just take over our squad's training just for one day, and give them a good rollicking and pep talk afterwards. But the more I think about it, the more I like the idea. But I doubt Adkins or McCabe would be as enthusiastic.

I would rather he take over for at least one season. Get us out of this division and then move upstairs to a Derek Dooley type role, if he wanted to.

Eight promotions. Most achieved on a small budget. Best CV of any current lower league manager.

If he hadn't managed us before, approaching him would be a no-brainer. If McCabe cared for the club at all, he would swallow his pride and ask Warnock to help dig him out of his hole.

Well I still believe he's better qualified for the job than Adkins - you can add that loser (Adkins) to your list, also Neil wouldn't tossers like Sammon etc.

Geoff Horsefield? Tommy Black? 2m for Akinbiyi? Cant remember if he didnt sign Ashley Ward as well. Lets not totally lose our marbles eh?

Come on, Warnock never signed a bad player, never suffered embarrassing defeats and didn't take 7 years to produce a successful team.

2003 apart, there was plenty of shite served up during his tenure.
agreed.. but it was at a higher level to be fair.. plus.. you could never accuse one of his teams of 'not giving a shit'

It's kind of relative though, we had players from higher up the food chain who you would expect to have got there, at least in part by working harder as well as having talent.

So for me, crap displays from championship players or crap displays from league one players they are similar in standing.

That said, I agree with your point about Warnock not accepting the attitude. We don't know much about Adkins as he doesn't seem to air his thoughts too much in public.

I would imagine though for him to be a manager of any sorts in a game that's heavily influenced by ego, that he's quite capable of dishing it out when needed.
