Whoever the tossers were that was whistling before we scored when we actually had possession....hang your heads in shame you c**nts!

No, you got it wrong. The whistling was to attract attention of St John's to the fact that a person in crowd had collapsed. It was nothing to do with the performance, it was also because Kop was distracted by fella in crowd that cheer for first goal was so muted.

Sorry failed to read rest of the thread, point has already been made.

Fucking hell, another home win, another in the tedious endless threads about the crowd being shite.

Here's a thought. If you are there simply to sample random shouting, organised singing and "atmosphere", try getting some tickets to XFactor, or any other ITV prime time show, where whatever is going on as entertainment is completely secondary to the crowd screeching like banshee's and bawling inanely.
It's a football match, the crowd will react to how it's going on the pitch (unless you want a fucking band booming away) and is the same the country over.

I thought we were better than the blatant time wasting at the end, something we all slagged off Norwich for. Also we're crap at it, we always seem to end up losing the ball.

I know you know this Dkc, but it's better to lose the ball near the opposition corner flag than in the centre of the pitch.

This is evidently not true though is it? We have been flying at home for most of the season and even in the games we've been playing teams off the park The Lane has had an atmosphere something likened to Kennedy's funeral procession.

And its not like this across the country, Wolves fans never stopped for 90 minutes when we played them last month.

The players deserve our support, that is what fans are meant to do at football matches, its what we used to do at ours.

How can you compare anything to Wolves at the moment? They are having a promotion party at every game.

An ungrateful, entitled crowd. Who seem to have taken a vow of silence.

Only the right side of the Kop made any effort whatsoever tonight. Everywhere else was pitiful.

Those of you who stand at the back of the Kop with no intention of contributing to vocal support..... just fuck off somewhere else.
Do us all a favour and pack it in, mate, you’re sounding like the Head Girl with PMT....

I thought the team needed the crowd behind them tonight more than we was. QPR hit us with a proper bombardment after they dragged it back to 2-1.

The old bloke who sits in front of me was an absolute fucking embarrassment with the shit coming from his mouth. It took less than 15 minutes for him to start banging on about Lundstram and Duffy, and as the match wore on, he got Lee Evans in his sights as well.

Total cunt

You should have punched the old coont in the kidneys!!

In view of all this slagging off the crowd, it is strange that Holloway in his post-match interview went out of his way to praise our fans. I don t think it was irony. It was quiet in the first-half, which is the way of the world when the home team is attacking the 'wrong' end - the more vocal fans are not as close to the action. It warmed up nicely after half-time, but then we had a poor 15 minutes. I have no time for those who moan at a misplaced pass or genuine error, but when the manager is shouting because the opposition keep getting 2 on 1 out wide, or that a sub is not closing down the opposition players, it is natural for the crowd to be urging the players in the same way to sort it out. And it was sorted out, and the crowd got behind them again. And whatever anyone says or does (and I applaud efforts to improve the noise levels), the Lane will not be rocking v Burton, unless the match is in some ways extraordinary.

I bet he felt a twat when Lundstram scored then.

We could though compare that against us a year ago, when we were certainly not particularly noisy with any consistency. There were one or two decent games, and this picked up a bit more towards the last few games, but the home atmosphere struggled in my view – and has done for quite some time now.

It's all the more disappointing that we play football in a library with stats like this:

Whilst I do agree with your general point G2000 it would still be nice to create a better atmosphere at the Lane, surely?

When anybody remembers a game of Football it will normally come from a result of the performance and result in general but the atmosphere does go a long way to making a better experience and memory, especially for the younger generation. I always used to stick up for our fans as the players never gave us anything to sing about but this season and last season they have given us something to shout about so I think it’s only fair we give our vocal support back.

The fans were a disgrace last night. The moans and groans from the fans were beyond a joke.

Amazing how so many people in the stands are so quick to moan but very slow to congratulate.
What rubbish !
If my team are losing the battle I shout encouragement to get stuck in.
That's not negative , that's being desperate to succeed.
At least I'm making some noise.
What do YOU do when your team look like throwing away a 2 goal lead ?
Sing about how great they were the previous season ?
Get real !

and my point is that the performance (and result) will end up creating the atmosphere itself naturally. All the great games I remember have all three as elements BUT it is never the atmosphere that creates the other two. The Forest play-off is the great example. Forest go 2-0 up and the crowd shuts down in shock/horror. Two minutes later the place is bouncing because Lord Brownie takes the bull by the horns and drags us back. The rest, as they say . . .

I fully agree the team deserves all the plaudits and support we can give but, luckily, they are good enough to make things happen whether or not. I find the continued moaning and whingeing on here particularly tiresome, prolonged and completely over the top.

But this hasn't happened. As the poster says last season and this we have played some sublime stuff at home and the fans have still not created that atmosphere, whilst 10 years ago it would have been rocking. I can't really explain it, a generational shift if the only thing I can think of that's changed. Too many people on their phones all game instead of getting behind the team.

I blame the telly , Most people just wait to be entertained watching their football on TV .
That had never occurred to me, but I think you are right. I am sure we are not as good at watching live football as we used to be - I had assumed it was because my eyes are not as good as they were, but it could also be that on tv lots of people wait for something to happen before looking up from their phone, or don't watch closely because they know the action replay will show the incident 10 times.

Too many people on their phones all game instead of getting behind the team.

This we can agree on. Lad who sits next to me NEVER celebrates a goal because he's straight on his phone texting (presumably) someone with the news. His mate barely sees any of the match because he's keeping tabs on his bet(s) and "cashing out" at the optimum time. I find it strange but then my phone is left in the car so I'm completely un-contactable whilst the game is on.

Our fans are absolute idiots at times.

We’re playing the best football in years & old moaning gits just spout bollocks.
