Neal Maupay

By having 4 or 5 strikers should ensure that at least one of them will hack it in the Prem. Only having 2 or 3 could be our downfall.

What a forward line that would be of:

OM
NM
BS
DM
LM

and CR ?

😁😁😁

You would also hope that a midfield of

MD
LF
CR
JF
ON

would suppy the ammo for the forwards as well

Robinson is without doubt a regular starter so bear that in mind.

It's not only a case of too many forwards, it's general attacking players, which we can only start with 3 of. So add Freeman and Duffy to the list as well.

So that would be 8.

And Mousset would be leaving in January because he wouldn't be getting the regular football that he moved here for.

Who would buy him?

What the hell do we do if by some miracle he decides to sign for us?

Cancel Mousset?

Signing those 2 and McBurnie would overload our attacking options.

Ay this stage it is probably a matter of signing the first two the club are able to get over the line, even if they're not first choice or the best combo.

Like most people it seems, I had pretty much written off Utd's chances of signing Maupay but as he's not yet gone elsewhere I suppose there's still a chance.

McBurnie is also taking longer than expected and there still appears to be a gap in the two club's valuations.

Mousset is a role of the dice and could turn out to be anything from the next Drogba to the next John Cofie.

All I'd say is that typified by Tuesday's and yesterday's showings, the current strikers with only one poacher amogst them (Sharp) will simply not score enough next season.

With this in mind, mynorder of preference is 1. Maupay 2. McBurnie 3. Mousset.

I don't think signing all three is a viable option due to the resulting squad imabalance and need to imvestment in other areas of the squad, most notably GK and CM.

One other observation from the two games is how small a side Utd look. If McBurnie doesn't join, I'd be minded to look for another big'un and, dare I say it, even consider going for Madine as a Plan B option.

I don't think so. We wouldn't just accept Mousset and Maupay. McBurnie or someone very similar is vital, largely due to the height factor you refer to.

Overpaying for McBurnie is something we'll just have to stomach, but saving £10m on Mousset over Maupay makes it much easier to justify.

Agree with that.

It’s quite clear that although there are loads of clubs interested in signing Maupay, none of those clubs are willing to pay 20 million.
If clubs like Villa, Brighton, Bournmouth, West Ham were genuinely interested then surely the signing would be finalised by now.

However let’s not forget that untested Championship strikers often struggle in the PL.
McBurnie and Maupay could easily be another Dwight Gale and there’s no way any club would pay 20 million for Gayle.

Basically Swansea and Brentford are hoping some PL clubs like Sheff Utd become so desperate, so have no choice but to over pay.
Then there’s also the theory that it’s worth overpaying by 4 or 5 million because we can afford it if we have a few seasons at PL level.

The Maupay deal is clearly dead - that much is obvious from the progression of discussions and the interest in LM. So I think we all need to just discount that as an option now.

It’s whether we can get OM as well. To me sharp, mcgoldrick, Robinson, mousset and mcburnie would all be good options to have.

Hopefully we will get McBurnie over the line now and Brentford can shove their Maupay up their arse and hope he doesn't turn to shit this season, thereby losing them £15m or so.

If we're buying Henderson then a loan of a decent PL defender would be good to have, im not sure Jags will be sufficient back up. If we're loaning Henderson then there must be funds available.

Extinction Rebellion are going to be livid with him, catching a plane from Gatwick to Birmingham airport.

Aren't most teams back from their abroad training camps now?
