Or they don't mind getting ripped off. Us Yorkshire folk won't bow down to you london folk with your stupid demands. Just cause a shitty 1 bed studio flat cost half a million quid down there, that doesn't make it good. In fact id say it makes it pretty shite! And you are all miserable and mardy and uptight
My flat’s great. Didn’t cost me £500k tbf. I can get a bus down to Brentford. If any bees want to make me an offer of £500k, I’ll take it. But currently, I’ve received no bids.

I've just overheard a member of the club confirming it.
Obviously I can't mention any names, but they were to do with financial department and that's all I'll say.
It was difficult to make out the full conversation, but heard them waxing lyrical about last season and then something about and how well the players did and contract clauses and stuff and whether they'll perform any better this season with Maupay. At least that's what I think I heard.

Were all these people at the club women? I think they were demanding "More Pay". People generally perform better with more pay

I f*cking wish I could buy a reasonably priced place. Don't assume that because "our" houses are expensive, it makes us feel superior. I'm incredibly envious of house prices elsewhere in the country and wish I hadn't ended up in a job/career which is so tied to London. Unless anyone at SUFC fancies making me Head of Comms, of course.

Chris. That was a tangent and a half, wasn't it?

This is great . Another maupay thread ! Please help me , somebody!

It’s a trap. I wish I’d been warned. Stuck here now until I retire, which is probably another ten years at least.

Me too. My partner's in the same industry as well. So that's both of us. Have to admit I do enjoy my job but there's a lot to be said for going into a career which means you're free to move around a bit.

Fair enough - don't agree with any of that, but that's fine. Lots of ifs and buts in your post, whereas I've pointed to an almost identical scenario last year and it played out as we'd hoped. Not only is he immediately talented but he's also got huge amounts of potential - so a buying club is investing in that potential as much as they are his immediate impact. Can't see his sale value decreasing by a concerning amount as he's years off his peak.

Of course, nothing is guaranteed. The club will have calculated his current value to our first team and won't intend on him going for anything less.

We have Leon Clarke for sale who scored 19 goals in one season of the Championship so we will do you a straight swop with say £5 million for the age difference.

Are you really that tied in Londonblade89? It sounds like you are, but in most industries it doesn't really matter too much where you live these days, because remote working is such a big thing now.

Most of my work is for companies in the South of England, that's how it's been now for years. I occasionally go down and spend a couple of days in their offices, in fact, I do that most weeks, but only if there's a reason for me to be there, e.g. attending a face to face meeting with colleagues. The rest of the time I work from home. I connect up via laptop to the main server, I do lots of teleconferencing, and videoconferencing, and the like.

This week I've been down south for 1 night. Last week, not at all. Next week I'll stay down Monday night, come back Tuesday.

I don't have a team of people to manage though as such, I suppose I might need to be there more often if I did. But the last such job I had like that I still remained here in Sheffield and went in maybe 2/3 days a week max.

Do you think we haven’t considered this? That people who spend half their lives on here aren’t aware of the internet or remote working?

Please don’t treat us like simpletons.

Hogan too...
So, what you are saying is Villa pay over the odds in order to get deals done quickly? I don’t think that’s new information to anyone.

In short your “theory” seems to be if you pay more than the market value for something, the sellers tend to snatch your hand off and no one else competes.
It’s not exactly gems of wisdom you’re giving out here.

Rooks and Stones chatting about Maupays numbers on the Superdraw.

But the Brentford Business Model ® is one of a kind 😳

There there, shall we go to the swings?

:)

Eh?

I wasn't treating anyone like a simpleton thanks. I was just interested to know why that doesn't seem to be a possibility for this guy? Maybe in some industries it's not so common? I don't know? I do know that even in the industry I mainly work in, in some companies it's still not very well accepted to work remotely - they think their employees will be skiving off or something. The reality is that folks who work from home often do longer hours than they do in the office, because the work is always there.

I think you need to calm down a bit pal - I wasn't even addressing it to you either! 😯
