Neal Maupay

United need to get this one wrapped up and in the bag ASAP, the longer we leave it more likely we are to scupper it. worried about this, i really want this one sorting

Do you mean we should lose patience and move on to other targets
Or allow ourselves to get ripped off and just pay 20 million plus add-ons.

Also the longer it goes on then Brentford may become more desperate to sell when other PL clubs won’t go anywhere near their 20 million plus valuation.
Also Maupay may become unhappy creating disharmony in their camp when players are being held against their wishes.
The whole point and attraction to joining Brentford was to be sold to a bigger club for a profit, so it’s becomes a beneficial deal for everyone.

Christ I carnt take this no more. I'm going to try and have a break from this place and the media for a few days. I'm getting obsessed!

no i mean the longer it drags out we might lose out to another club and we need Maupay.

If you wanted to be pedantic, two parties can discuss a fee without it 'actually' being an offer. From all known information, there is no way on this earth representatives haven't been in contact so it's just word one-upmanship.
football manager before you make an offer - make an enquiry, suggest terms etc... etc...

Exactly. Even Wilder (who clearly is ITK) can get it wrong. The double signing 2 years ago for Sinclair and Quina for example.. if he'd been asked at lunchtime that day if they were signing, he would've said, yes nailed on... They didn't sign
I wonder if those 2 have sacked their useless agents yet? Serves the feckers right :D UTB

That is probably the line Brentford football club are thinking.
A fair value is 15 million but they suspect we are desperate and they (rightly) believe they can force an extra 5 million out of us.
If we were Villa, we’d just pay it and not worry about potentially wasting money BUT Wilder sees players having values and won’t be conned.
We can easily switch it around and think that Brentford need to raise some revenue to strengthen their promotion bid.
They may will become desperate to sell an unsettled player. So playing the waiting game might end up being successful. Who knows?

If I recall correctly it was Paul Walker interviewing McCabe about Beattie being absent (amongst other things). Good interview with challenging questions and when asked what the reason for the absence was he replied “well I gather he’s got the flu!”.
I’ll never forget it as it was swiftly followed by the loudest cry of “BULLSHIT” I’ve ever mustered.
Exactly as I recall it.

The McCabe flu thing definitely happened and it was on Radio Sheffield. I think it was before the 4-2 win against Derby but my memory could be playing tricks on me there.

I might be wrong, but I'm guessing you're not a professional negotiator?

The approach you outline is the worst thing we could do - it hands all of the control over to the other side. All tips for negotiating tell you: (i) don't look desperate and (ii) convey that you've got all the time in the world.

Jim,

Please warn me in advance before publishing nasty pictures from the dark web. Courtesy and compassion go a long way...😱🤮

According to Kevin Gage (how reliable this is... Who knows) but it would appear that an agreement had been reached & Brentford "moved the goalposts".

In reality, no-one other than CWAK knows at United.

If we get him, then I'd be very happy. If not, we move onto other targets.

Looking at the overall content of Gage’s account, not only unreliable but risible. Anne Widdecombe? Anne Fucking Widdecombe...

Spot on. However your negotiating with an owner who’s made millions as a poker player, I don’t think he’ll blink first. Secondly, We don’t need to sell to raise money for players, a point many posters on here seem to miss. The club have been very careful with incoming cash from player sales over the last three years and have enough to finance incomings, saying that I’m sure we will sell one or two at a vast profit.
Its been said here that we won’t sell him for less than £20 million. If your club were in the same position would you, allegedly drop £7 million with 4 weeks still remaining to sell, or sell to raise money for players when you don’t need to. As I’ve said before if you get him you’ll get him on Mathew Benham terms and if you do you’ll get a great player who I think would do well in the Premiership for you.

Morning all.

Not a regular poster on here but a keen follower of this forum which i really enjoy.

Have followed the Blades for 59 years now since I used to get on a coach to BDBL from the Roland Arms at Aston. Have no knowledge whatsoever on the Maupay saga, or any idea of his true worth. What I do know is that I always promised myself that if we ever spent more than £10m on a player, then I would celebrate by opening my 1983 Pauillac wine and celebrating an incredible milestone in my United life.

I can feel that corkscrew twitching as I type....!

Tarks

I’m getting a little tired of you now, little LongLostBee. I’ve told you several times how this will play out but clearly you’ve come to lecture, not listen.

The £20m is not set in stone just because it’s a figure that’s appeared in the press. You will sell him this window and you will sell him for less than that.

Brentford? Fucking Brentford.

I’ll leave you in peace with your delusional viewpoint.

Totally agree, we saw posturing from the Southend owner Rug Ron for weeks before we bought Ryan Leonard for much less than their initial valuation.

Brentford fans are very naive if they think that whatever a selling clubs sets as a valuations then that’s the final price.
Man Utd and Man City want Harry Maguire.
He’s a current international and valued at 60 million or so.
Leicester have slapped a 90 million price tag on him.
Man U and Man City can easily afford 90 million but both refuse to pay it because he’s not worth it.
