Neal Maupay

You little tinker.
We tell Brentford it’s off and we’re looking elsewhere.
In the meantime they panic because they’ve got transfers lined up and are relying on the Maupay money to finance a squad strengthening.
So they come back to us, agreeing the 15 million with no add-ons. Genius!

I’m waiting for RC to confirm

I’m waiting for RC to confirm

To be honest GPS,
These things are constantly evolving.
RC is likely to say it’s so close but there’s now a stale mate so no one knows what will happen now but SU still hopeful.

It could be off today.....but if Brentford have no other firm interest from others ...then they might quickly come back to us.
In the mean time we need to prepare for the deal not going through and enquire about other players.
I’ve been saying all along that 20 million is madness for a player who is a risk, he’s only ONE good season in his career and never played in the PL.
How do we know he’s not a 1 season wonder? He has no where near the pedigree of loads of other strikers.
We would be paying for fantastic potential but normally potential comes much lower priced than a tried and tested player.

I only recall Blackwell actually mentioning flu , McCabe said we’re not a selling club, yes I know he’s a liar but I’m think I factually correct to say that he didn’t say Beattie had flu.
Anyone get evidence I’m incorrect?

Till seeing the Blackwell comment on it I never realised he’d said it too. I do remember McCabe mentioning it though on Radio Sheffield as the reason he was missing.

When it's on he's the dogs.
When it's off he's gash.
It's a full time job this Ffs.

20 mil is deffo too much of a risk , if that is a true figure . But who knows what the truth is ? All ifs what’s and maybes . If only RC would surface with an update

Evidence please

I’ve just given you some evidence – my testimony on it. If you want me to travel back in time and record Praise or Grumble from the particular day, return back, upload it online somewhere (assuming that is that I survive the return journey – really relies on a time travel method that isn’t gruelling on the body), and then post it to you on this forum, I think you’re asking a bit much frankly.

Think ITKers get a raw deal on here unless they have a 100% accuracy rate, which is impossible.
We should take any inside info as a guide that’s likely to happen and not gospel.

I remember Neil Warnock saying he could tell some unbelievable stories regards transfers.
He’s spoke to players and their agents who have given their word that they are joining and the clubs have agreed a fee.
So Warnock has been 99% sure, it’s “a done deal”, then the following morning it’s on Sky Sports news that he’s joined another club.
He felt gutted at the time and had to buy his 2nd or 3rd choice target but he said sometimes the 3rd choice ends having s bigger career than the 1st choice.

Burnley have just activated Jay Rodriguez's release clause for £10mil, so I can't see them being interested in Maupay as well.

Exactly. Even Wilder (who clearly is ITK) can get it wrong. The double signing 2 years ago for Sinclair and Quina for example.. if he'd been asked at lunchtime that day if they were signing, he would've said, yes nailed on... They didn't sign

Absolutely, you just need to re-watch that 'A day in the life of Wilder' documentary they did on transfer deadline day a couple of years ago to see what madness it is.

ITK is just chinese whispers at the end of the day and in the transfer business, the situation can easily have changed by the time the info is shared.

At the 15m sort of levels, you'd think Brentford's inkling would be to sell.

Yes, they have increased their chances of climbing the table with recent recruitment.

Not enough to surpass Leeds who just signed Costa, Fulham who came down with a highly impressive squad bad who retian Mitrovic too.

Many others they'd have to get by too, but already you are looking at the play off lottery at best. Enough of a gamble to turn down the sale of one player that would account for 15m at least, when your annual revenue is 12.7m?

It seems the potential takers are few. Villa already signed an expensive striker and only really played 1 in a 4-3-3. Norwich play a lone striker too. Burnley going a different route. Less inclination of foreign clubs bidding. It would seem like a good time to sell to get good value out of him. If he does well at PL level his value will rise, but they don't have the platform.

According to Brentford and Sky no offers then. So it’s basically all paper talk and guff on here?

Or Brentford or lying.

Or Sky are misinformed.

Or it's not an official offer until there's a price agreed.

Or no-one quite no knows because both clubs are keeping it hush hush.

Or keeping it quiet to allow Brentford to seek replacement without the other club knowing they have 15m+ burning a hole in their pocket

If you wanted to be pedantic, two parties can discuss a fee without it 'actually' being an offer. From all known information, there is no way on this earth representatives haven't been in contact so it's just word one-upmanship.

According to Kevin Gage (how reliable this is... Who knows) but it would appear that an agreement had been reached & Brentford "moved the goalposts".

In reality, no-one other than CWAK knows at United.

If we get him, then I'd be very happy. If not, we move onto other targets.

Exactly as I was going to put it. Nothing ‘official’ until the offer document lands. Doesn’t stop two clubs negotiating a fee. I wouldn’t read anything into that whatsoever.

Why can't people wait? What will be will be.

I doubt whether CWAK would know for sure, they don't negotiate.

United need to get this one wrapped up and in the bag ASAP, the longer we leave it more likely we are to scupper it. worried about this, i really want this one sorting

Doubt it’s paper talk.
It’s in both clubs interest to state there’s been no official bid, suspect there’s been plenty of negotiating behind the scenes.

Let’s imagine United offer 15 million for Maupay and it’s publicly refused.
Then we go after a 2nd choice or 3rd choice striker and offer 10 million.
Those clubs will refuse the 10 million because they know we have at least 15 million in the kitty.

If I recall correctly it was Paul Walker interviewing McCabe about Beattie being absent (amongst other things). Good interview with challenging questions and when asked what the reason for the absence was he replied “well I gather he’s got the flu!”.
I’ll never forget it as it was swiftly followed by the loudest cry of “BULLSHIT” I’ve ever mustered.
