This is so stressful. Worse thing about it we need 2 strikers . So it goes on and on! Also some quality cover for fleck and Norwood. Which will also cost. Oh to have a board with ambition!

ambition is overrated. shahid hkan
Morelos too big a of a risk? Was pondering this one earlier when Rangers were linked with Roofe.

i was thinking about morelos too but the conclusion i came to is he’s a bit of a dick. wasn’t he sent off three times against celtic last season?!? he’s apparently got very little going on between the ears.

Getting bored of the hoo ha with this guy.
If he won’t just sign for us ( a PL team) from Brentford then fuck him. He ain’t Marradona FFS.

Villa will offer cash plus Hogan to get Maupay.

That’s always the risk of waiting

We either get a more favourable deal or potentially get blown out of the water.

I’m of the opinion it’s worth trying to conclude the deal and get him working with the rest of the squad and acclimatised if possible . But I’m not in control of the pursetrings

I thought about Morelos previously and can accept the current discipline issue to a large extent, but is he actually that good?

As for Roofe and Robinson, I think they'd be great fits who give us full flexibility. Both would score goals, and there's a strong argument to prefer those two to just Maupay. Roofe really impressed as a CF last season.

He never really had a run of games to be fair, all I'm saying is that he probably achieved as much as Maupay has, would be interesting to hear the Bees fans comparison of the two.

I seem to remember he spent most of his time being caught offside. Thought a lot of that was down to slow release of the ball by our midfield who were obsessed with triangles out wide but was scared to post as much for fear of being shot.

Int Hogan the complete opposite type of player Brentford go for now?

So what you are saying is pay more for more pay? and get robbed.

Something to bear in mind is over the last 2 years of their Brentford career

Scott Hogan player 32 matches and scored 21 goals = 66% score ratio.
Neal Maupay played 85 matches and scored 37 goals. = 44% score ratio.

So, on paper Hogan is a better striker than Maupay, look how that transfer went.
Keep saying this Maupay has only had ONE excellent season.
He’s still young, big potential but he’s never played at PL level and could be a 1 season wonder even at Championship level.
We can get better strikers for less money. If Maupay stays at Brentford there’s a chance his value could go down to 5 million or so.
The main aspect with Maupay is that he’s still very young and could become really good.

Brentford should be so much stronger this season just for selling Maupay.

Their fans should be hoping he goes.

All they'll need to do is sign a competent striker to replace him, and not sell anyone else.

Even Leon managed to have a reit season in the championship and couldn't repeat the feat.

It's interesting that Smith, having got the best out of him previously, didn't rate him last season let alone this. This deal would be ideal for them if the player/Brentford were up for it. Hogan might just be happy picking up a wage at Villa though.
