Ndiaye international concerns...

Tactics, he drifted out of the game 2nd half but did well for his first WC game.
Yes,pretty tidy although he was operating on the opposite flank he does for us and no idea why he was asked to defend the six yard box at corners. Was a good call to sub him and get experience on the pitch to hold their lead.

I was a little worried when he went over to the Ecuadorian player on the floor and started to give him verbals!

Did ok. Looked lively first half, didn't connect with either shot properly but showed good touch and skill. Used the ball well. Second half less in it but ok. Gave the ball away that led to the counter which ended in the free kick that led to Ecuador's goal. Involved in winning the free kick which led to Senegal's second.

Difficult as international teams are a bit all over the shop as they spend very little time together.

I assume, even if they lose the next game, that he may not start against Huddersfield with travel and all. Although, he's being asked to do a lot less than he does for us, so may not be getting that tired, outside of the heat and humidity.

What happened, he was definitely stood on the spot with the ball in his hands, then suddenly he wasn’t.

I wanted him to make a big name for himself, but a penalty as a debutante was a big risk, glad he didn’t take it.
This is something that has been creeping into the game for some time now. A player grabs the ball as if he's gonna take it and all the opposition players surround him and start with the sledging to put him off. Once the box is clear he hands it to the penalty taker who's quietly been getting prepared away from all the aggro.

I’ve just watched the Maverick documentary and he has to really work hard to make it a professional and he seems determined to make the most of the ability he is blessed with.

I can’t understand why he was rejected so many times, I can only think it might have been down to him being a late developer but credit to the lad he just kept on cracking on and working hard. He seems humble, grounded and has a great attitude, and now he has blossomed in to a superb footballer.

I’ve really enjoyed watching develop with the Blades. He is a hard working and intelligent footballer blessed with finishing ability, pace and trickery and doesn’t look out of place in the World Cup.

At the minute I just get the impression both the club and player are at a point in time where we are ideally suited to each other. He has obviously needed a club where he could feel settled to make the progress his career needed and as a club after the breakdown on the Wilder era we needed a new hero to break through and give us enjoyment again and he gave us that.

I hope he is here for a long time but I can see him going for serious money in the next couple of years and go on and become a genuine star in a top league. Wherever he goes, he can always look back at Sheffield United as the club that gave him his chance to shine and a part of his heart will always be here and we can look at Iliman Ndiaye with pride at whatever he achieves.

Sheffield United and Iliman Ndiaye. A modern day romantic footballing story of a supremely young foreign lad busting his balls to have a footballing career finding a place he could flourish, feel valued and make the breakthrough in to a career his hard work and talent deserves

I can understand Manchester united or Chelsea turning him down on trial but Reading?!

Looking at some of the clips of him as a kid it's like watching a smaller version of the player we see most weeks!

That's actually quite clever

I’m quite impressed with Senegal. They’ll give England a much bigger test than anyone has so far.
Fit, skilful, powerful and athletic with a great work ethic - we should probably try to sign some more of em! 🤪

Also noticed players standing on the penalty spot to stop anyone from the defending team trying to cut up/loosen the area around the spot too
