Ndiaye 2024

I've got loads of time for ndiaye, best player I've ever seen in a united shirt. I hope he does really well scores loads of goals and gets loads of assists but somehow Everton lose every game 6-5 and go down and he moves to a proper club like us when we overtake them next year.

I can't decide how I feel about this. Part of me resents him for not wanting to experience the premier league with us (no comments on our outcome) and his supposed desire for his "dream move".

I'll obviously follow him with interest next season.

However, maybe he made an amazingly shrewd choice to leave our shitshow of a club, based on previous and current circumstances, so who can judge him for that.

When was the last time anyone signed a new deal? Can’t all be tossers.

Adam Davies, this very week.

Poor old Adam Davies. Everyone always forgets about him. A common mantra used to be "we only signed Anel as a permanent signing in 2022/3", when we also signed Adam Davies.

And Adam Davies is looking like a first team player as things currently stand.

My thoughts exactly

This feels more traumatic than when we actually sold him in the first place. The whole move had no benefit to anyone, Sheff Utd or Ndiaye and not much for Marseille. I kind of looked forward to having someone to cheer in the Champions League at least and possibly getting some nice add ons and a fat sell on fee one day. Now if he does hit the heights eventually, Marseille and Everton get the financial benefits..... and we got Auston Trusty, Ivo Grbic and one season of Cameron Archer.... 'safeguarding the clubs future'...

It's worth noting that Marseilles are selling loads of players, not just Ndiaye.

They're not a stable team.

Agree to some extent, but £20m for him last season or £0m this season? Although we were relegated, selling Illi and Berg has probably left us in a decent place financially.

What's the point in wishing him bad luck? I feel sick at the idea of seeing him play for such a dog shit club but not going to waste time hoping he gets Injured or plays shit. He left here because we're a shambles of a club right now, not because he was a twat like the likes of lundstram. I'm more bothered about our major lack of activity. This take over can't come soon enough.
I don’t think we’ll see many players who worked harder than him.

A lot of his success is undoubtedly down to his unique skills; the guy can dribble as if the ball is tied to his foot, even beyond David Brooks who almost glided with it.

But there is. I small part down to his incredible hard work, especially in closing down the opposition.

Yes it’s rubbish that we appeared so close. But Sheffield United had lots of time during his tenure to tie him down to longer. Maybe. We were too tight with the numbers when we shouldn’t have been. Certainly in the final run in, with Marseille hovering, to have got to making videos BEFORE he’s signed showed naivety at best and incompetence ar worst. The ultimate counting chickens before they’re hatched example.

Best is a difficult label to give to a player. Brian Deane was an excellent striker at the top level for us in recent times and his goals kept us up there. But in terms of most exciting when he got the ball, then he’s definitely the one for me in my time watching my United since the 80s.

I’m interested to see how he goes there. I like Dyche, he’s had to fight his way up. That appeals to me. Everton will still be an underdog team vs some of the clubs so it will be an interesting platform for him.

I do think Everton deserve a relegation. I can’t get away from that. When we went down in the 90s, that Wimbledon game stank. Not only the Segers affair that followed but also the rank cheating of Limpar to con a penalty that wasn’t.

However I’d still like to see Iliman bloody a few noses in the Premier League. As much as Hecky, Iliman probably saves us from ruin. He was the catalyst for promotion, given the platform by Hecky, and even then, from costing nothing, his 15-20m that he then went for helped the club balance the books.

Let’s not be bitter about this. No player stays forever. You’ll always hope good players stay longer. But in his couple of seasons he gave us some brilliant memories and he was a grafter, let’s not forget that.

Just over a year ago Iliman Ndiaye was a hero, some Blades saying he's the best player we've ever had, and was due to become the best paid player we've ever had.

After a pretty disastrous year at his "hometown" club he's now dealing with this from his new fans:

I get he's significantly richer than he was, but surely he's got a few regrets about leaving us?

He has been terribly advised by his inner circle. We all knew how good he was and how he would be destined for a top 6 team in the PL or across europe at some point. The advice he needed was "back yourself, dont jump at the first chance". We would have gone down with him regardless, but he wouldn't be playing for Everton now, he would be at a top 6 club with half the world knowing about him due to the PL coverage. He will not get a proper chance at Everton as they will sell DCL and get someone else in. January loan to a random club and thats his season done. What a waste of two years.

Nah mate, 99% of footballers are mercenaries in today's world, I doubt he even checks out our result.

Not sure he particularly regrets leaving us specifically and I'm sure he will be glad he at least ticked off his boyhood dream of playing for Marseille even if it didn't end well.

However whoever told him it was a great idea to join Everton in the state they're in...he needs to bin off out of his life asap.

He's barely played for them so far. And I'm not sure he's the type of player Dyche appreciates. Going to be a tough year for him and Everton. The new manager bounce is gone now and they look like they're destined to go down this season.
He'll be looking for a new club again next summer. That would make it 4 clubs in 3 years. Not a good look for him.

Point taken but you can't read the future mate. He could've turned down the move and broken his leg in training; or stayed with us in the worst season ever and his value and confidence plummeted. Or he could have gone there and torn it up and be a Champion's League player.

That's football isn't it and life- making choices, some work, some don't, no point being bitter about it. The Marseille move I could understand (although the indecisiveness was a pain in the arse), the Everton one I don't....but he's got the ability and I'm sure he'll get there, just a bump in't road, GLTTL.

He was very over rated by our own fans, he went missing for huge parts of the game, which was masked by individual brilliance on the odd occasion, he was playing in a very tough team team to score against, so any flair stood out, he was also young and developing and in my view jumped ship far too quick;y as he would have been afforded the time and patience here, as some have said he’s been really badly advised, he should have stick with his own gut and stayed as that was what he wanted to to do until his circle ground him down to finally move at the last minute.

We all need to move on…

Had he stayed with us, he'd probably still be loved by the fanbase, but he'd also be back in the championship. Plus, if he had made any impact at all last season, the chances are we would have been fighting off bids all summer, and his arse of a father would have been doing his best to unsettle him anyway, just like he did before.

As much as it irks, I doubt we would have kept him for much longer at this level even in the best circumstances and most players will want to test themselves at the highest level possible.

With Marseille and Everton though, he could not have chose two more potentially toxic environments. I don't see him enjoying this season much more than the last one. All he needs next is a stint an ManU.

If he isn't already, he will be a multi millionaire within the next 18 months, but if he is asked, I wonder what he would say his best footballing memories were?
