Surely if they are representing a Welsh town then they are a Welsh club. That must be how you define a clubs nationality.

Just unearthed this about Newport County.

In June 1989 the club was reformed by 400 supporters including David Hando as chairman; later club president. Former manager John Relish was re-appointed team manager and they were elected to the Hellenic League (then four divisions below the Football League). The club's main aim was to regain the Football League status lost in 1988. The club took on the name "Newport A.F.C." and adopted the nickname The Exiles, as a result of the need to play the 1989–90 season home matches at the London Road ground the north Gloucestershire town of Moreton-in-Marsh, around 80 miles north east of Newport. Newport Council had considered the new company to be a continuation of the old and refused permission to use Somerton Park on the grounds of unpaid rent.

Worse than I thought. Imagine the Blades being exiled to Lancashire!

That just makes them a Welsh club playing in England though.

Yes, thanks for spoiling a bit of fun. You seem the sort of person that could turn a wedding into a funeral. Full of sarcasm and out for a fight. I am glad you enjoyed your pedantry. Says a lot about your character.

Thanks for the in depth personality analysis.

I made the pedantic point as I hate the wankers at the EFL who re-branded to chase the marketing shilling and happily cast aside the Football League's proud history.

Some people saw the funny side and it wasn't about you, so don't get your knickers in a twist so.

How do you know I wear knickers? ;)

At the risk of drawing Msr Coco into another pedantic 'chat', one could argue that for that season they were an English club, purely on the basis that then there was no guarantee that they would ever return to Wales. A bit like MK Dons when they were Wimbledon playing at Cripple Palace. Then there was no guarantee they would ever return to Wimbledon, which of course they didn't.

I tend to agree with you and as it 'appens they did go back (apparently Deepdale and Rodney Parade are older grounds than Bramall Lane - cue history fest).

I give a shit about the proud history of our national game but couldn't give a tinker's toss about some part time leek munchers who may or may not, have played outside Taffyland.

Ten teams have accumulated 100 or more points in the history of the EFL.

Can you name the other nine? :)

3 points for a win started in 1981-82 so it was possible for Leagues 1 & 2 (and those divisions with their previous names) from then:

League 1
1998-99 101 Fulham
2002-03 100 Wigan
2011-12 101 Charlton
2013-14 103 Wolves

League 2
1983-84 101 York City ( & look what has happened to them !)
1985-86 102 Swindon
2001-02 102 Plymouth

Championship
1998-99 105 Sunderland
2000-01 101 Fulham
2005-06 106 Reading
2009-10 102 Newcastle
2013-14 102 Leicester City (& look what they did)

NB Last season was the second time Northampton had reached 99.
The question is has any manager accumulated 199 (or even 196 or 197) in successive seasons ?
