N’Diaye

Younger fans talk about Woodward and Currie but for me as an older fan the greatest pair I saw were Alf Ringstead and the sublime Jimmy Hagan
You say younger fans… it’s a good job N’diaye was here otherwise although not the worse combo but highlighted similar position players I grew up as “hero’s” would have been Andy Liddell, Danny Webber and Monty not quite the same set!

Fair chance Senegal could get into the final and maybe win the whole thing. Imagine if he scores the winner? He'll be worth £50-70m surely. Do we have a sell sell on clause? 😂

He's already been sold on (OM to Everton), so if we did have one, it will have been enacted.

the club gave him a career and the fans adored him and when push came to shove he shafted us.
Yet we refused to put him in the first team until he signed his initial contract extension. It wasn’t a one way street and we seemed intent on messing him about initially, then it bit us on the arse when he left but was conveniently ignored.

They duly won it.

Ndiaye played well but was heavily marked. Had a chance just before half time which the keeper did well to save.

Taken off after 77 minutes so wasn't on the field when the game descended into chaos in time added on.

David Moyes must be grinning. A win at Villa and Ndiaye returning from AFCON triumphant and, above all, uninjured.

I know I’m getting on a bit, and my eyes aren’t as good as they were, but isn’t the second photo Derek Dooley in his Wednesday kit?

It's entirely possible. I'm not old enough to have seen Jimmy Hagan play, and when I did a google image search for him I tried to make sure the photos were of him and not someone else, because I know Google gets stuff wrong. So I chose photos from the Google image search which, to me, looked like Jimmy Hagan, but, as I say, Jimmy Hagan playing for us was well before my time and, like you, my eyesight isn't the best, so it could very well be that an 'erroneous' photo has ended up in there, despite my best efforts! Apologies.

I just wanted to make the point that it's really quite insulting to the great Jimmy Hagan, to claim that someone like Ndiaye was our greatest ever player. I mean, Ndiaye did well for us, and he's clearly very talented, but I can guarantee that if I mention to my Dad, or most Blades of my Dad's generation, that someone's claiming Ndiaye was a greater player for us than Hagan, they'd either roll their eyes in disbelief and disgust, or sit there and laugh.

Not even close

Oh my word 🫤
Any example you could give pre 2000 wouldn't get anywhere near him as an athlete for a start. Better players relative to their peers of their time? Most likely yes.

But chuck them on a pitch together and Tony Currie, Jimmy Hagan and Ernest Needham would be made to look stupid by Ndiaye let's be real

Pretty sure it is
Obviously, it needs Silent Blade to confirm, but it definitely is 🙂

The stand behind is the old Leppings Lane end with the scoreboard on the roof.

As far as Illiman is concerned, he’s one of the most gifted players I’ve ever seen for us, not quite TC level, but close, and in my all time favourite United XI.Most of the rest are from the last century 🙂

He's the greatest player we've ever had imo. They way he left rankles, but it doesn't alter the fact
I don’t know about greatest player ever, as didn’t see the likes of Currie, etc., but he’s certainly the most talented player I’ve seen in the wonderful red and white stripes of Sheffield in my life time.

I would argue Billy was greater than Iliman but not as talented or with as much potential… if that makes sense

If we're going on talent alone, for me (started going to matches mid to late 90's) he is the greatest player I've seen for us.

Makes perfect sense, but yes Iliman technically the best player if not "greatest"

Sorry but this is completely nonsense stick Ndiaye on the pitch when any of that abo
ve players were around he has no chance of looking anything like as good. Pele was probably at least as good an athlete and like George Best was playing when defenders could put challenges in that would have broken Illman in two without getting booked. Also ask him to do it on the pitches they had to play on and with the old balls. Illman was and is a brilliant player but give older generation players the medical support the modern training methods the academies thefacilities we can only guess at how they would have done. Lionel Messi may be the greatest player of all time but the protection he gets compared to Best for example gives him opportunities older players never had..

What about mental focus mental discipline no smoking regulated alcohol regulated diet and fluids daily weight checks body monitoring 24/7
The types of training and fitness level required
Regular blood checks drug checks and so on
24/7 publicity tv social media on a world wide scale

And opponents are fitter faster elite athletes

For example

Give Pele all that and maybe he’d do something with it and would be on a level we’ve never seen before

Give it such as Best ??????

It’s all relative at the end of the day
