N’Diaye

Imperative we get him tied down. What’s the point in letting it go until the end of the season and then panic if we haven’t gone up and because of that he decides he’s not signing?

Do it now while we have a chance of being promoted

I know that means paying him a higher salary earlier but we need to get that fat release clause into his contract to protect our asset

So lets say the average wage at the club is currently £20K. What wage would you offer him to tie him down?
If his agent has read our forum and believes he's worth £30 million plus.....then his agent will be factoring in that he can soon leave for free.

So let's imagine a PL club offers him £100K a week for 3 years, that's £15 million....which is a lot less than £30 million.
So as daft as it sounds giving N'Diaye £100K a week could be seen a great deal for that club.

So imagine the negotiations.....our starting point is £10K for a Championship club whereas his agents starting point is £100K, it would be embarrassing because we'd be miles apart. Our only chance of offering a contract is if we gain promotion....then we can offer something closer to £50K with clauses.

We were apparently offered more for him in the last window than the offers on the table for Berge
Need to tie him down to a new contract before next summer or unless we have the option of another 12 months to take him through to 2025 he will be sold this summer.
He is worth in excess of £30m as he had everything and only had one year of first team football, still learning and can only get better

We could offer him a new deal and make him the highest paid player at the club with a clause giving him the option to go if a club comes in at the threshold ( Berge on similar)agreed. He would get a good pay rise now rather than waiting for a
transfer which might not happen if he gets injured
or his form tails off.

It is acknowledged that his contract expires in 2024 but does anyone know if we have a 12 month option?

My eye sight is getting worse as time goes on and for a moment yesterday when Brewster pulled up with the hamstring injury I absolutely shit myself thinking it was N’Diaye and our season was over. (No offence Rhian)

Best player we have ever produced and there has been some bloody good ones!
Same here.

58, he's obviously got a savvy agent as illustrated by the contract stand off a while back. Apart from the risk of injury I can't see any reason why his agent is going to agree to a new contract. He knows full well he is going to be in massive demand in both January and next summer and will be looking to maximise the players and his own revenue through signing on bonuses etc not protecting the clubs interests.

Additionally if he gets a chance in Qatar he can display his skills in a global scale. I may be wrong but the only way I see him being here beyond this contract is if we go up.

Yes, all fair points, but to not even sit down with the lad and try to thrash something out as Hecky is suggesting should be happening doesn't sit well.

The club should pull out all the stops to give the lad a pay rise and at the same time offer some limited protection against our asset. The fact Hecky is saying "nothing imminent" seems to send out the wrong message, certainly to us the supporters

Edit:

Might be we are speaking to him??

"Meanwhile, Heckingbottom has confirmed that the club are talking with star turn Iliman Ndiaye over a new deal, but admits that the situation is not simple."

We don't know figures are being banded around for NDiaye and yeah on the face of it, this seems like a pointless exercise, but to not even sit down with the lad and try to thrash something out as Hecky is suggesting should be happening doesn't sit well.

Edit:

I stand corrected if this is correct?

He’s British though £££
Ndiaye will have a British passport or right to stay so it's not really a factor. He's someone who has lived in a long time so it's not like he has to "settle" or learn the language etc

Brookes couldn’t even get in our first team when he was sold, he was mainly sub.
Also his position was more a winger and Wilder preferred to play a wingback tactic so it wasn’t sure how Brookes would even fit into the team.
It was a great piece of business at the time and worked out well for Bournmouth and the player too.

The Brookes sale gave us additional finances to bring in extra squad players
In retrospect it’s possibly the reason we were promoted.

This proves the bigger picture is here and now squad quality not individual players with potential.

I doubt Iliman Ndiaye's agent would let him sign a contract without a reasonable release clause.
In any case, the power is with Ndiaye and his agent and they'll know it.
They'll be in absolutely no rush to sign anything until the Summer.

In the Summer, Ndiaye goes into the final year of his deal. If we're still down here the price for Ndiaye goes down and the money in Ndiaye and his Agent's pocket goes up.
That trend continues the further he runs down his contract.

The only way I imagine Ndiaye would sign a new contact with us, as a Championship club, would be if we gave him considerably large wages (£40/50k a week) with a release clause set at a rate that PL clubs wouldn't mind meeting - £25m(ish).

58 I laughed at the last sentence "but admits that the situation isn't simple"...... roughly translated into his agent wants 50k a week and we've offered 12k

I really hope we can keep him as I genuinely believe he's a better player than MGW

Good post…..as you say N’Diaye‘s agent holds all the power…its looking likely he’ll be a millionaire after his contract runs out…so there’s no rush on their part.
He can turn round and ask the question “why should I commit my future to Sheff Utd when I’m so ambitious”

We’d need to come up with a really creative contract. We give him a good pay rise now but
If we fail to gain promotion then we let him go for £20 million, so they’ll be plenty of PL clubs interested willing to take the relatively low cost risk.

and if we do gain promotion back to the PL we do something like the deal we gave Jagielka….for example if we are relegated from the PL then we’ll allow him to be sold for a paultry £10 million. Then N’Diaye knows his career is financially protected and if the worse comes to the worse and we are relegated he can cash in with a massive salary somewhere else in the PL. We need to make an offer where N’Dieye can’t lose what ever he does.

I think IllimAn is a much better player than Eze. He is an all rounder. Don’t remember Eze ever tracking back, closing down and winning the ball back Like I’ll. Also Illiman much more consistent week in week out and goal scoring record far better.
Eze will play for England. He's a fantastic player.
Shouldn't really be comparing the two of them anyway, Eze is a skilful, very faster winger first, or can play off the striker.

Ndiaye is the latter, he's never been a winger.

Care to elaborate as heard Nothing other than what you have just posted?
If he is gone in January then he is not playing like it.A player that's really wired in to what we do !
Just somebody else stirring the shit.
His transfer fee goes up with every game he plays!why would we sell him now .Maybe worth10 million in August! Now that value is easily 20 million and as I say going up every game he plays.
He's an entertainer (bums on seats)not just an outstanding talent.
The club know what they've got and hope to get a new contract signed.

Showed tonight that he can score a simple goal as well. Thought a lot of his trickery just didn't come off tonight, but then he popped up where he needed to be to nod home a simple goal. The lad has the world at his feet.

I just heard rumours allegedly originating from one of the coaching staff, nothing concrete just pub talk but the source was convinced it was legit
Did this member of the coaching staff explain how they managed this with transfers between clubs not being possible until january ?

Only passing on what I heard, quite probably a load of codswallop, and I really hope it is.

I do however think it would be tad naïve to think that sounding out and agreements in principle , although illegal , don't happen outside the transfer window

We need to hope that all he does during the World Cup is keep the Senegal's bench warm.

Come back fit and strong. Let's look forward to what he can do for us and not what he might do for another club post-January.

Hoping to see him live at Senegal V Ecuador in the final group game before shooting off to England v Wales a couple of hours later.

We need him benched ,hopefully not over used as we want him back fresh and raring to go.
All championship teams will have a fresh squad after the brake,we need Illiman fit and fresh after his jaunt in the world Cup that won't be a given if he gets starts.
