My only visit to Deepdale was in 84 2-2 draw going tomorrow so I guess it's changed

He's a Wednesday fan. Read it earlier. Hope he has a great day coupled with a victory. Will’s my son and he’s a lovely kid and recently turned 16. And by the way laddo, you should be focusing on your schoolwork and not tossing it off on here.
I’m originally from Gleadless but his Mum bless was from Cheshire so I upped sticks and moved there in 2005.
Will, for his sins, was initially a Liverpool fan as it was fashionable at his school to support a ‘good team’. But I started talking him to BDTBL in the Clough era and gradually the boy saw the error of his ways. He now hates Liverpool and loves the Blades.
I don’t know whether to feel guilty for setting him up for years of heartache and disappointment, or proud that he now loves our club and is so passionate about everything we stand for. I’ll go with the latter.
Thanks to everyone who has given him a warm welcome and appreciated the enthusiasm of youth!
Ha ha thanks pal. I didn’t want to out myself as his old man, but had to intervene when someone suggested he supported the Pigs. I’d drown him if he did ;-).He's a Wednesday fan. Read it earlier. Hope he has a great day coupled with a victory.
Going to Preston away on Saturday looking forward to it. My first ever away game as well, got tickets for my birthday can’t wait. Come on your blades. Hope Brewdog starts for his hard work for the goal.
And tradition dictates first-timers get a full round in on the concourse.Hope you enjoy it mate. Oh and dont forget its fancy dress![]()

Good work sir, in a difficult backdrop. Will’s my son and he’s a lovely kid and recently turned 16. And by the way laddo, you should be focusing on your schoolwork and not tossing it off on here.

That’s lovely of you to say pal. Fingers crossed for 3 points tomorrow.Good work sir, in a difficult backdrop.
You made the right choice, and should definitely be proud.
It is what us Dads do, I will be the one coked off my face at Preston tomorrow, hurling abuse at the stewards and kidney punching the disabled's before being carried out by my two sons with piss running down my leg....
Didn’t see any of the goals either. We got stuck in traffic on the way there and we were 10 minutes late and it was already 1-1. Decided to leave 10 minutes early as we were soaked and Hull scored as we got to the turnstiles. By the time we got to the car it was 4-1!A real Blades apprenticeship!
Preston is one of my favorite away days!Going to Preston away on Saturday looking forward to it. My first ever away game as well, got tickets for my birthday can’t wait. Come on your blades. Hope Brewdog starts for his hard work for the goal.
I was at that game, very depressing day!Hope your first away day experience is better than mine. A 4-1 defeat at ‘Ull in 1983. Boothferry Park uncovered terracing and pissing it down.
I was at that game tooMilmoor 1979. Won 2-1 and a wall collapsed. Immediately smitten with all things away days.
Also my first away game, even had a pint in a club, not bad for a 13 year old lad, parents didnt know i went made some other excuse upDerby away at the baseball ground fa cup 4th round 1970. lost 3-0 but I am glad my dad took me.
Enjoy the day. Whatever else, you will remember it for the rest of your life. Away matches have always been a different experience to home games. My first away match was Notts County, Feb 1957, drew 2-2. We missed 2 penalties. I was 9 at the time, my brother was 14, but despite our maturityGoing to Preston away on Saturday looking forward to it. My first ever away game as well, got tickets for my birthday can’t wait. My first away match was Notts County, Feb 1957, drew 2-2. We missed 2 penalties. I was 9 at the time, my brother was 14, but despite our maturity, my mum and grandma insisted on going to Nottingham shopping, to see us all right on the train. It snowed all game, by the time we got back to Sheffield we had to walk 3 miles home in the snow. They let us go by ourselves after that.
One thing I learned that day is how different supporters (now called fans) are in different places. I remember a Notts County supporter coming over to us at half-time (we were 2-0 down), and laughing because they had put the Wednesday score up on the scoreboard- they were losing as well. He said, as if we would be devastated: ‘Your other team are losing as well!’ That score from Hillsborough was the only good thing about the first half, but he just didn’t get it..
Have a great day.
Enjoy the day Will. Like others and your old man have said, it’s a totally different experience and regardless of the result I’m sure you’ll catch ‘the bug’. I took my daughter as a teenager to Notts County for her first away game and she’ll be with me again tomorrow and she’s fast approaching 50 grounds! Never hold it against ya Dad for turning you into a Blade. The ride will be bumpy but inside he’ll be bursting with pride every time you watch them together just like I doGoing to Preston away on Saturday looking forward to it. My first ever away game as well, got tickets for my birthday can’t wait. Come on your blades. Hope Brewdog starts for his hard work for the goal.
