Orient away in 1970, I was watching Aston Villa's first ever 3rd division match at Saltergate. During half time the scoreboard at Saltergate revealed that we were winning at Orient. Villa beat Chesterfield 3-2, my dad didnt have the car radio at the time for us to know the final score at Brisbane Road. After tea at home, a Wendy fan waved at me from the Cemetery Road Park (There wasnt a proper fence on my garden at the time) asking me to join a kickabout. When I came across the garden he said, using his hands to indicate the score, "Orient 3 United 1, Wednesday 1 Charlton 0" I was shocked because in the previous week newspaper journalists were predicting us to get promotion and Orient to finish bottom of the 2nd division.
