My first away game

My only visit to Deepdale was in 84 2-2 draw going tomorrow so I guess it's changed

I go to more away games than home during the season. Love them, my lads love it as well.

Will’s my son and he’s a lovely kid and recently turned 16. And by the way laddo, you should be focusing on your schoolwork and not tossing it off on here.

I’m originally from Gleadless but his Mum bless was from Cheshire so I upped sticks and moved there in 2005.

Will, for his sins, was initially a Liverpool fan as it was fashionable at his school to support a ‘good team’. But I started talking him to BDTBL in the Clough era and gradually the boy saw the error of his ways. He now hates Liverpool and loves the Blades.

I don’t know whether to feel guilty for setting him up for years of heartache and disappointment, or proud that he now loves our club and is so passionate about everything we stand for. I’ll go with the latter.

Thanks to everyone who has given him a warm welcome and appreciated the enthusiasm of youth!
He's a Wednesday fan. Read it earlier. Hope he has a great day coupled with a victory.

Good work sir, in a difficult backdrop.

You made the right choice, and should definitely be proud.

Aways are like an initiation from part time to full time. Enjoy your day.
Ive called time after 75 ticks achieved, though some of those no longer exist.

Derby away at the baseball ground fa cup 4th round 1970. lost 3-0 but I am glad my dad took me.

A real Blades apprenticeship!
Didn’t see any of the goals either. We got stuck in traffic on the way there and we were 10 minutes late and it was already 1-1. Decided to leave 10 minutes early as we were soaked and Hull scored as we got to the turnstiles. By the time we got to the car it was 4-1!

Hope you've spent the regulation 3k on new clothes, we can't have you tipping a granny out of thier wheelchair whilst not quite looking the part..

Enjoy the day young man...

Going to Preston away on Saturday looking forward to it. My first ever away game as well, got tickets for my birthday can’t wait. Come on your blades. Hope Brewdog starts for his hard work for the goal.
Preston is one of my favorite away days!

Enjoy! Hope it's the first of many more to come! UTB!

Enjoy the day. Whatever else, you will remember it for the rest of your life. Away matches have always been a different experience to home games. My first away match was Notts County, Feb 1957, drew 2-2. We missed 2 penalties. I was 9 at the time, my brother was 14, but despite our maturity 🤣, my mum and grandma insisted on going to Nottingham shopping, to see us all right on the train. It snowed all game, by the time we got back to Sheffield we had to walk 3 miles home in the snow. They let us go by ourselves after that.
One thing I learned that day is how different supporters (now called fans) are in different places. I remember a Notts County supporter coming over to us at half-time (we were 2-0 down), and laughing because they had put the Wednesday score up on the scoreboard- they were losing as well. He said, as if we would be devastated: ‘Your other team are losing as well!’ That score from Hillsborough was the only good thing about the first half, but he just didn’t get it..
Have a great day.

Enjoy the day Will. Like others and your old man have said, it’s a totally different experience and regardless of the result I’m sure you’ll catch ‘the bug’. I took my daughter as a teenager to Notts County for her first away game and she’ll be with me again tomorrow and she’s fast approaching 50 grounds! Never hold it against ya Dad for turning you into a Blade. The ride will be bumpy but inside he’ll be bursting with pride every time you watch them together just like I do

That was my first away game as well. I was 16 and went with 2 mates.
All went ok walking to the ground chatting to some Derby lads. Got inside the ground and it then got nasty.
My mate got punched in the face and his scarf dragged from round his neck by a group of neanderthals.
Then we got thumped 3-0.
Tbf it was the great Derby side managed by the incredible Brian Clough who went on to be very successful and we had an off day.
