Just a question. From what i remember he never used to take penalties and took corners a lot. this makes his record even more special surley?

Edwards = Blades Legend who actually talks a lot of sense!
Lots of people talk lots of sense about football and Edwards being a Blades Legend as you put it doesn't mean he should either be offered a job at SUFC or have anything to contribute. He's around the 50 mark now and never worked in the game after his playing days, kinda tells you something there does it not?
Sometimes I think he talks complete shite, but what do I know, except that my opinion has about as much weight as his as far as the current SUFC management is concerned.
Any post regarding getting Edwards or Currie involved is sentimental musings as far as I'm concerned - TC, over 60 and never had a meaningful influence on any 1st team anywhere, again, says it all and these guys weren't cut out for managing or coaching seasoned professionals.

He can't coach or manage if he hasn't been asked to do so. But I think he should stay where he is, I like hearing his take on the match.

You can take your badges though and let it be known that you want that kind of work. Not like coaches and managers have a job for life, is it? An opportunity would come quickly. Even Gazza got managerial jobs!

Anyway, I tend to agree. He is a good summariser...

That would be a good thing? Do you not think that if TC had any aptitude for coaching at all, he would have been appointed years ago?

Can we get out of this crazy obsession with former Blades? The sort of madness that has failures and novices like Holdsworth, Scott and Wilder seriously suggested as suitable to manage SUFC during the last two or three vacancies.
Oh. OK.

60 last July

Give him an after dinner speaker job in one of the corporate areas, loves the sound of his own voice and he could still do his commentary as well as earn a few bob for himself in the lounge. On the football side I think Chris and Alan seem to be doing ok, although with 1 point from 9 they're on thin ice and need to pull their fingers out or it's time for Christmas 'shoes off'.

It makes you wonder why he never has been given a role at the lane. He does speak sense, but I imagine that he wouldn't be that popular and wouldnt get that much respect, pundits never seem to. Look at Andy Townsend, Hoddle, Gullit, Strachen..
He has previously applied for the managers job a couple of times and offered his services reg coaching but because he's not a yes man and has upset various people at the club he won't get offered anything official, he had a meet and greet a few years ago and all these points came up and this is what he himself told us

You would think with his impressive coaching record the club would snap his hands off
Think it peaked with taking the boys in my year at gleadless valley for p.e

Kieth Edwards speaks sense and can see where we’re making mistakes in my opinion.

What sort of role that could lead to at the Lane I’m not sure, but I think he would be a valuable addition to the management team in some sort of capacity.

Why would he be expecting a job at the Lane when he has had nil managerial experience?

Because Silent it's the old fashioned belief that if he was a good player then he immediately must be a good manager.

Companies sometimes promote people to management positions because they've been there the longest even though they've never displayed any signs of management skills.

Wenger, Mourinho, Ferguson would hardly be called 'world class' players in their time and yet grasped the art of management.

As Jim Steinman wrote, two out of three ain’t bad...

I got Tufty badly wrong, but many who were in favour when I wasn’t will turn against him long before I will...

Oh, and yes I am. :)
