Maybe, just maybe, AK just took in a game of football whilst he was in Portugal and had no ulterior motive for doing so.

Joao would be a definite no for me - far too inconsistent, unable to hold down a place in the Massive's team and prone to throwing a wobbler.

I know Wilder has polished a few turds and we're not flush (see what I did there) but I'm slightly concerned at some people's willingness to put so much onus on our PL survival with players who haven't pulled that many trees up in lower leagues over a few seasons.

Don't be concerned Davalon, they are not the ones who have any input on our recruitment of future players, & the ones who are know what they are doing.

With you using toilet puns, shouldn't this be 'anus'?

The one time I saw Joao was when he gave Benfica's first choice defence (keeper was 3rd choice and not far of my age though lol) a torrid time. Looked great that night. But two questions.

1. if he's consistently that good, why is he not a regular.
2. If he is consistently that good, why hasn't anyone else been in for him.

He isn't consistently that good, however if we were in for him the hope would be that Wilder and Knill could bring that consistency out.

Simply put, and nailed it. If he can`t get a regular starting place in a bang average, (at best}, Pig team, after a long time at the club, then I can`t see him being much use in the Prem even with the CW/AK midas touch.

I think thats how you have to look at it. At least with Morrison, we're getting a bit of try before you buy. For the money they'd want for Joao, it's a no from me.

He’s 25, been at Wednesday for four seasons and hasn’t established himself as their first choice striker. Stop with all this ‘Wilder can turn any old shit into a top player’ crap. He didn’t turn Hussey into Marcello, he didn’t turn Holmes into Hazard.

Wilder and Knill get gemstones and gold ingots covered in turd, and wash the turd off.

Occasionally they mistake a piece of sweetcorn for a gold nugget.

They can't work with a pure shit.

From what my (occasional) Wednesday mates say, he is a very good player on his day but lacks consistency. If he was consistent, I'm fairly sure he'd have left Wednesday by now. Remember what we thought about Leon Clarke before he joined us and what Wednesday fans said on him? Joao has more potential than Leon had in the past and I'm a huge fan of Leon. Wilder can't polish a turd but he could wrap it in glitter! Now we've done all the brown stuff related jokes now!

Not saying we should sign Joao BTW, but he's someone that I believe Wilder could get 20% more out of.

Also when people say Wilder couldn't improve the likes of Hussey, they were lower league buys for such small fees that some are bound to come off and some not. Look how well Ethan Ebanks-Landell did under Wilder for example and yet since then he's proven to be average but for us he was immense.

Here’s me thinking we’re a bit flush..... ;)

There's a good chance Knill was looking at Shrewsbury players.

They have quite a few young ones. Maybe someone like Ro-Shaun (I know) Williams. He can run fast.

I'd still take Joao, to supplement McBurnie. Apply the Wilder filter and he's quite tempting.
Ro-Shaun is the blackest double barrelled first name I’ve ever heard

My personal view is that with 3 quality additions - above what we have now (and assuming Hendo is in!) - we'll have a great chance of staying up. I truly think teamwork and spirit can offset a lack of quality, to a point.

One of my overriding reflections on last season was Bielsa's comments about Wilder. Not only do we have a manager who has exceptional man management skills, but collectively with Knilly, we have some f*cking mighty tactical minds. Not to say Bielsa has had cracking success but he's referenced so much by those that have, I take his views as a huge positive.

So i'd back us to do a job against Brighton, Norwich, Newcastle, Villa, Southampton, Burnley, Bournemouth, Palace...and perhaps even some home wins against better teams.

I'll always be wary of second season-itis. I'd point to Huddesfield's first season in the EPL. I thought they had a dog sh*te team yet they made it. Second season...f*cked. Brighton too.

IS THERE ANYTHING FOOOOKING HAPPENING????!?!!?!?

Nah. To be honest, RC's last comment that he wouldn't post for the sake of posting has helped to calm down my checking. Whatever happens, happens. And if RC posts, I'll be going wild. Lost too much time to checking constantly after last Friday's 👀 👀 👀 🤞🤞🤞🤞debacle.
