I’d rather have Heaton permanently than Henderson on loan.
It's going to be very difficult, bordering on unreasonable for Burnley to try and keep two keepers happy who both are in the England reckoning. Maybe Heaton would be a good suggestion.

I'd be interested to see what form Hart is in. Ok, he had a bit of a dip, but the guy has 75 international caps and is only 32. It's not as if he's knocking on 40.

For Hendo, Man U have to be careful. Not that many teams looking for a keeper. Most have their own. I can, strangely enough, see Villa not being convinced by their options still. Even so, not many come into the season without their own established keeper. Us and who else?

And yes, I’m finding it very unlikely we would sign McB, Maupay, Robinson AND Mousset!!
Fees costing £55m if reports are correct!

That’s just incredible for my team, and without Maupay it would still be £35m!

Now I know Freeman was pretty much free due to the Adams clause, but add Osborn, and the likely arrival of 2 more and spending is probably going to be around £44-£50m...assuming we don’t get Maupay and the deal is deffo off. Plus wages will be at LEAST doubling to the £40m mark.

If KM has agreed that I will be amazed, i would have thought it more likely we were spending £30m at the most. Do we think the Prince has been a little more influential?
Perhaps we are about to see how ruthless you need to be at the top level.

Maupay, McBurnie, Mousset, Robinson plus Sharp and McGoldrick fighting it out to be 5th choice. Maybe that's how Wilder sees it.

I'm sure Billy will walk out and captain us on day 1. Whether he'll be leading the line on day 38 is something else.

Hope he does. If so, it will mean he's scored plenty. The likes of Glenn Murray have shown that it is possible. It'd be a great story if he can finish his career with us, but only if he keeps doing it, not for reasons of nostalgia.

McGoldrick's days could also be numbered. The two forwards brought in so far are both quicker and more athletic that McGoldrick. Maybe Wilder also thinks he did really well to get what he did out of McGoldrick, but how far can that go?

He's another, like Duffy, who I've really enjoyed watching. But perhaps that is because he was a high performer at that level. Can he reach those standards at Premier League level?

Wilder hasn't avoided the sack all his career by standing still.

We might have to get used to seeing 'the Duffy role', 'the Coutts role', 'the Basham role' etc consigned to being that of the formation rather than associating them with the original occupants.

He might be thinking:
Hendo
Bash Egan O'Connell
Baldock Norwood Fleck Stevens
Robinson
Maupay Mousset

Subs
Moore/Dutch lad
Jagielka
Osborne
Morrison
Freeman
McBurnie
Sharp/McGoldrick

Exciting times indeed but perhaps not nostalgic ones!

Please God not Joe Hart. That would put a huge downer on being in the Premier League.

I'd rather have Carson than Hart if we're going for ex England goalkeepers.

In fact I'd rather have Peter Shilton.

Joe Hart is a diabolical keeper and I refuse to believe that Wilder would go anywhere near him other than as a last option.

Burnley don't want any money for him so there's no financial aspect, and I think Dyche and Wilder know each other quite well, so I'd hope that Dyche wouldn't stitch us up and tell us it's just because he won't be getting game time.

Absolutely full on shitting it now, didn't need to read that we might end up with Joe Hart for fuck's sake.

Hopefully a Championship team splash the cash on a massive wage packet for him and have him as a marquee signing, Leeds or summat.

If the Sawyer's move happens I think we could potentially see a whole new midfield a few weeks/months into the season. I've said it before but I personally don't think that Norwood will see much game time as the season progresses.....as good as he was last year he is prone to giving the ball away cheaply and there's a reason he's been promoted twice before but never kicked a Premiership ball......

Similarly I think Fleck will have to be right at the very top of his game from day 1 to retain the shirt.

I'm sure on day 1 at Bournemouth both Fleck and Norwood will be in the starting 11......but I can see that changing quickly as we settle into the season with Ravel, Freeman, Robinson, Sawyer's, (maybe) Osborne, (maybe) and Lundstram all putting the pressure on.

If there was still a chance of Maupay and McBurnie I’d hope there’s be money for McBurnie and a new gk, even if we do have to pay over the odds at this stage for that position.

We have more to spend than most think. Maupay is being a dick end and is doing himself no favours. Hope he ends up staying at Brentford and regretting making his mind up when they're in the bottom half again.

I don’t doubt we have more than most think tbh in fact it’s quite evident that we do..

But my point is less about finance and more about bodies. It does seem that we would still bring him in if he said yes regardless of us signing McBurnie.

This would give us 6 forwards not including the AMs like Ravel and Freeman.

I assume with Duffy being told he can leave and the potential 6 forwards that CW intends to play someone like Robinson deeper..

In fact the more i think about it the better it all seems, the potential pace and technique amongst the front 3....... oooooooof

And it also gives us the ability to keep opponents guessing with so many options.

Update. Keep saying it but Osborn nearly done, few little things to tidy up and it’s done. Very confident McBurnie will be in early to mid next week, £17.5 million. Maupay seems dead as he cannot make up his mind and appears to want to wait and wait for what he considers better offers. Henderson being delayed by Man Utd’s demands, he’s signed a new contract on £50k a week and they want us to pay the full amount plus a £2 million loan fee. We’ve said we can pay the wages and that’s it. They’re trying to recoup some back for the big wages they’re now paying De Gea. We’ll go elsewhere otherwise with Joe Hart and Tom Heaton as top options. A top flight Dutch keeper will be coming in as no 2, not sure on name yet. Interest in Romaine Sawyers now it seems they’ll accept a low fee, though there’s one or two loan options been looked at for a midfielder. Friendly on 3rd August will be Stade Reims away.

My take on the goalie situation is I’d prefer Heaton on a permanent to Hendo. He’s not only been there and done it, but it also stops this loan situation occurring yet again next summer.

Surprising but good news about Sawyers. I thought he was more of a Fleck type player, so that’d mean we have 3 in that position. Or, would he come in as backup for Norwood?

Good to see Osborn is near complete too. He will be a solid and useful addition.

If Maupay is holding out for something better then he is not the right fit for us. I would prefer McBurnie anyway as he has more that we are lacking.

Knew Man United were taking the piss about Henderson.

Literally heard their manager on Sky yesterday saying something like “We’re really pleased David has signed a new deal, we want him to be our keeper for many more years to come”.

What hope does that give to Henderson? If he wants to come, he needs to start throwing his toys out the pram to force through the move.

Really hope we sign Sawyers for a low fee, just for the Brentford fans on here. I remember watching them when they beat Leeds 2-0 (cheers lads) and thought Sawyers, along with Maupay were the best players on the pitch.

I wouldn't mind Sawyers coming in, he's a tidy player and would be good back up/comp for Norwood...

However I cant accept criticism of Norwood! If you want to see a mid who's every pass comes off, go watch Lee Evans at Wigan safely pass the ball sideways(at best) every week.

My only concern, well it’s not really a concern tbf is the length of time it might take to get McBurnie in, as in it might be longer than next week and that it might not happen

Bar anything joe Hart related - seems to be positive news. Still feel hendo should be done once Man U realise they are limiting his development by blocking things. But if not Heaton could be a good shout.

Fuck maupay off if he doesn’t want to be here. Mcburnie would be a good fit for me.

Osborn adds depth as would a second experienced keeper.

Sawyers I feel would be good value for that outlay. Though imo using the loan signing (potentially 2 available if we’re sacking hendo off) on a midfielder would be good - we need someone to really make fleck and Norwood play for their places.

I’d be tempted to loan a midfielder and look to defence too if there are 2 loans available
We need to save at least one loan for January - VFM is poor in January - I would save BOTH loans for January if it was up to me + go with squad of 23 for now

He ended up as number 2 at Burnley because at the time defence they put in front of him was dogshite if we could put a decent defence in front of him he should be capable
It was Lowton/Tarkowski/Mee/Ward - the exact same defence that the season before had Nick Pope in with a shout of going to the World Cup and later on in the season (after Hart had been dropped for Heaton) suddenly regained confidence and was keeping clean sheets for fun...

Dyche wasn’t giving Nosworthy a run out for the laugh.

Paying players £50k a week, £17.5m potential signing, potentially spending £40m in a transfer window.......what a time to be a Blade. I know we say it everyday but its ridiculous where we've come from.

Even if you look at our first season in the championship Leon Clarke and Clayton Donaldson were pretty much our two first choice strikers.
