Mousset injury scare?

11 goals from 5 strikers in 24 league games is fairly dismal by anyone's standards, & in reality is relegation form! The fact that that is not the case is because of our strength in defence, & 9 goals from midfield. Not sure the centre backs have scored yet?

This area needs serious attention for next season, but as has been said PL strikers are serious money. It may be that we need to go out & pay serious money for a striker & trust that the rest of the team can be good enough for another season, that is on the basis that we don't sell anyone. Personally I would offer the earth for Grealish. He can play up front, behind or in midfield, & is only 24. I get the impression there is mutual respect between him & CW.. He may not come & may be more than we can afford, but if Villa go down its worth a punt.

Not a chance Gealish will come here, he’ll be off to Man U or similar. He’ll already be on a bigger wage than we would payout also.

I don't disagree with the sentiment, but he is the sort of person who would make the difference we need. There must be others who have his potential lower down the leagues.

The same grealish who is knocking on the door for an England start, is at prime age, has been involved in more goals than most midfielders in the prem, and is being scouted by man utd, arsenal and spurs.
Bit early to be drinking white lightening isn't it??

Grealish is gonna be going for 50-60 mill plus if Villa going down so that rules that one out

Our goals for column isn't helped by our shocking set piece record, only 2 goals from set pieces all season. To put that into perspective only Watford have less with 1, and Newcastle have got feckin 12 🙃 hence my moniker.

Grealish will have to fail at a really big club before we even have a chance of signing him. See Danny Drinkwater, amazing for Leicester, sold for a ton to Chelsea, failed now at Villa.

The return from our strikers isn't very good but then again it's hardly like they're missing chance after chance. We now play in a way, without the Duffy role, that doesn't play to the strengths of striker. They're often running the channels and putting the balls in themselves or we're too slow building up on the left or right that they're surrounded by defenders. Mousse is the only one who can really create his own chances.

The old IF my auntie had a pair of bollocks she would have been my uncle. IF.
I get that, but it wasn't a dodgy video replay that didn't notice your aunties balls.
He didn't miss, he didn't fluff his chance. It was taken away from him and if his confidence is that brittle then things like that could affect him.

After all the Man United game praise I remember him saying that it was game time that had improved him since his Bournemouth days.

Another game where Mousset goes off injured, what exactly was it this time?!

Didn't look injured. In fact it looked like he just sat down and said he wanted to go off when he wasn't taken off first. There was no treatment.

He was cooked after 55 minutes. He stopped running the channels or moving at all. More worrying is the amount of other players all over the park that were done too. The fitter team won. The subs didn't help: new batteries were needed and we brought on luxury players.

Mousset, Gibbs White and Ndiaye stopped running from the hour mark.

fleck and Norwood just looked knackered too.

Blackpool took over the game after this and I felt they looked the more likely and so it proved. The fade outs every game are a concern and questions needs to be asked of the fitness side - both the current and previous regime.

United cannot compete in a three game week; this is a well established pattern now. More generally, we either phone in the first half or the second half of games and give it a good go in the other half. A great example is the Millwall game: players coast through a half because they know they don't have the legs to play at the required intensity for 90+ minutes. Barnsley was the other way around: went for it first half and knackered in the second.
It's amazing to me that the likes of Slater can't get any game time. We are crying out for people that can cover ground at pace. We have technical ability all over the park. Slav fucked the subs up today. If you're getting overrun you overload the midfield and defensive areas and buy yourself a foothold. We took off what little legs we had in the middle and went gungho. Suicide football and not for the first time

Is Slater still injured? I was shocked when he took off Osborn. We're completely hamstring with Mousset and Ndiaye not having the fitness to play 90 minutes at a decent intensity.

He's taking the blades for a ride but only a 55;minute ride

I know someone who lives near him and it doesn’t sound like he’s totally committed to the life of a professional footballer, at least the bit fans would want to see in one. Also heard that the club have a “fat club” (thats how it was described to me) where players are weighed and checked for body fat etc each week, I was told Moose is 100% more than they want him to be on whatever scale they use, and that there’s a £2000 per week fine for anyone who is part of this “club”. He sounds a really nice guy, but it’s a short career and he‘ll have plenty of time to do the things he wants after he’s retired, so hopefully he‘ll get some help with whatever his problems are and become the player he could be.
