Fucking hell Sean Bean. Wonder how much they paid him for that.

Nice to see him jumping back on the bandwagon anyway, we didn't half miss him those 6 years we were in L1.

Stayed loyal over the Ched Evans affair despite unrelenting media/political player. Proper Blade. He was involved with the naughty boys at BDTBL back in the day, which wont endear him to everybody. I've talked to him about United as I know some of his family, and have met him at a few does.. He came across as very knowledgeable, watched replays of all our matches, and made it clear that he wouldn't throw the club under the bus re Evans.

My Dad has good things to say about Sean Bean from chatting with him in the 90s when my Dad was a steward.

All a bit predictable though innit. Production meeting basically "We need to make an intro for Sheffield United, oh Sean Bean! Ring his agent, Jarvis? No Arctic Monkeys! Call clearing".

I alternated with lump-in-throat and foot-through-the-telly throughout. Either way I'm sending the bill to the BBC.

Make sure you address it to “the occupier” and send one about every couple of months filled with hollow threats, then the red envelope of doom pretending your gonna come down and have a look at their stuff!

Monday Night Football did us proud.

Better than Match of the Day.

Love those titles, proper slick.

Is Jess looking over the city from Meersbrook Park? We had a walk up there yesterday morning and that view looks about right.
She was probably trying to work out where the ground is, in case her agent books her a visit to be 'spotted' in the crowd at a high profile game...

The Monday Night Football intro for anyone interested (though this is from NBCSN so it's rebranded at the end, exactly the same though, maybe a couple of clubs are switched around, dunno). We're about 20 seconds in.

Excellent titles, do a good job with everyone.

I really don't want to nitpick but we never had blast furnaces in Sheffield. It's been electric arc furnaces since they finished with open hearth furnaces. If you going to make a story about Sheffield they ought to get it right... just saying... :)
Ha ha, I pointed this out to my Mrs, she just looked at me blankly........

Sean Bean story for you.......

After the Ipswich play off semi final victory in the mid nineties we were returning to Bristol by car, scarves out of the window etc and pulled up at traffic lights, a largish black BMW pulled up alongside us, Sean Bean hanging out of the passenger side window roaring “coyraww” or some such.

My brother addressed him..... “Sean, we are Bristol Blades, we have a Sunday morning side that plays in a full replica kit. Every Monday night, we go in The Coach & Horses in our shirts, (off the top of Blackboy Hill if anyone knows Bristol) and watch “Sharpe.” Whenever you kill someone or shag a bird we all stand up, toast you and sing na na na na eeza Blade (etc).” He looked at my brother sideways and said “Fuckin’ ell, nowt much appens in Bristol does it?”

Then the lights changed and he roared off into the night......

Also, and this is not a dig at Deano, but I hate any mention of "Premier League records" as these records erase the feats of any player pre-1992 from the history books. The English top flight was called the "First Division" for most of its history, before being re-named first the "Premiership" in 1992 and later the "Premier League". The top flight was expanded from 20 to 22 teams in 1991 and reduced back to 20 teams in 1995. It's not as though it was a brand new competition - it was basically a rebrand with new income distribution, giving the clubs involved more cash and less for the rest.

I appreciate the sentiment but it wasn't a mere name change. It was a new league - no longer part of the Football League. Perfectly legitimate to say Deane scored the first goal in the new league, continuation of the old top flight though it is.
