I was just coincidentally reading an article on Hao Haidong. I didn't realise that we signed him at 35. He had a great goal record in China to be fair

Yeah, this move was definitely all about getting the Blades some recognition in China. I was working in Beijing at the time and spotted him in Blades gear on the TV one morning!

Sent the pic to my mates back home...here's what i wrote:
"yeah, it's hao haidong on beijing tv, representing da blades in china...good bizniss. didn't understand a word they were saying but it seemed to be some kind of regular interview they have with famous chinese sports stars. apart from the interview there was also footage of hao and his life in sheffield. there were questions from the audience too, and they seemed in awe of the guy, obviously a household name here so definitely a wise business move from united, if nothing else."
