Morons - smoke bombs & pitch invasions

As for the smoke bombs, I'm not sure the club can be held to blame for that. How do you police or steward that? That's just one or two morons.

They can and are, cracking down on it big time at the moment.

Right I wasn't going to post this on an open forum due to the potential trouble for the club but seen as the majority of it is being discussed here goes. Just after the first goal I felt something hit my back and looked round, somebody behind pointed to the floor next to my daughters feet where there was a fire work that exploded right next to her. Thankfully she wasn't hurt at all but she was so upset we had to leave early, she was absolutely terrified and is considering never going again despite having been a season ticket holder for 5 years. We missed the 'magic' finish but I don't care, hopefully somebody will be caught and banned for life, we could have been looking at a serious injury. Whoever did it I hope you read this and turn yourself in.

good job you weren't at Sturm Graz vs Salzbury yesterday.. there were flares all over the place.. and.. the biggest goalkeeping howler i have ever seen.. i'll see if i can find some footage..
seriously. everybody chill

Don't get me wrong, I like an atmosphere, I also like the madness of the likes of the game you mention... it doesn't change the fact that we don't generally get away with these things and in my opinion was stupid to run onto the pitch when we took the lead against Forest, again.

There was one set off at the back of G&H and then one "appeared" in the front of the Forest end.

After the trouble with the flare a few years ago, we'll more than likely be in bother. And it won't be seen as an isolated incident from the pitch invasion.

And to accuse me of trying to take the joy out of the game by posting about it is a little daft. I'm as happy as everyone else but I managed not to be a dickhead. Apparently it's wrong of me to apply those standards to other people?

Was that meant for me? I never, your honour! :)

I hope that the flare incident - 11 years ago - should now be ancient history. You can't hold something against a club for that long, surely? United took measures on that and it was dealt with. I'm not trying to excuse the morons but I'm not sure what United can actually be blamed for. I appreciate that there is the "Failure to control our fans" but a warning only for me.

Anyway, UTB.

We've always had our fair share of overly exitable pretend fans. Apart from banning them, what can the club really do? It's not like you can employ 5,000 stewards to form a barrier. Fining clubs is just a way to pay for the bubbly at the shareholders meeting.

i feel like the bloke that tried to stop the fight and got lamped for his trouble :(

I'm only saying that I understand totally what you are saying, but that we don't get away with it so it was daft :D

Report it to the club. They should be able to find out who it is on the CCTV (which they upgraded after the previous trouble).

Hope she's ok.

Someone always has to post something negative ;)

Come on really pitch invasions have always happened with giant killers in the FA cup, just because we are Sheffield United why should we be singled out for a fine because a few hundred mostly kids and teenagers got a little bit over excited. There is little enough passion and fun in today's game without calls to ban kids who can't contain their excitement on a great victory and cup run, Christ fans have had very little to be happy about over the last few years at this club, lets have a bit of perspective, hopefully the authorities will see it as it was mostly good natured over excitement. I'm not condoning it btw and it does ask questions on the standard of stewarding at the lane.

Here's SP and the Sturm Massive. You wouldn't want to rock up and find this lot already drinking in your boozer...

Hope she is ok and hope she will come back.

Some people need to think what they are doing.

Read my earlier reply - I didn't condone the smoke bombs. Fining us for the pitch invasion would be pathetic. I was aware of the smoke bomb at the back of the Kop as it was rank but not of one going in the Forest end.

The one at the Forest end came from Gangway H of the south did it not? Was it not thrown down in that corner? It appeared to be and then the old bill went down that corner in riot gear.

Eh? He was the one accusing me of being one of the fans he referred to as numpties!! I know he agreed with your post and I didn't - but blimey...

I meant to quote you both. It was a general warning.

I thought it came from the Forest fans myself but couldn't be 100% sure.

Then they want their arses tanning and a stern talking to about at least leaving it until the final whistle.

Problem is, like I said earlier, it won't be seen in isolation against all the smoke bombs and stuff going off... especially as they spent more time running around the pitch in the second half than poor knackered Baxter did!

Makes you wonder if that extra 4,000 on the gate are worth he trouble though doesn't it...
I wonder If some on here would be so easy going if they had gotten the game abandoned, played behind closed doors and we had lost ?

I thought it was lobbed from H block but would happily be corrected in this instance.

Cheers Linz and SF, we told the stewards at the time and I will be getting in touch with the club and suggesting they have a look at the CCTV covering the top of gangway G on the kop as that was the area it came from. She's not hurt physically and hopefully the reaction of the people around us who were all very concerned for her will see her return on Saturday. I might have more trouble persuading her Mum to let her go though!

We shouldn't condone either pitch invasion or flare. For my two penneth though the club will get fined. The stewarding in front of the mop was woeful.

If only it were like that every week, The fans spoiled the end bit as the payers deserved a reception, but fuck it - that's passion for you.

Definitely report that. I hate people who do stuff like that, they should not only be banned for life but face criminal charges. It's only a matter of time before someone gets seriously injured or worse because of these idiots.

Shouldn't really laugh at any of this. But I did find it comical towards the end when the group of kids (none of them old enough to be teenagers surely?) thought the final whistle had gone when the ref blew for a free kick. They ran on to the pitch from the John street towards the corner with the kop when the forest player was trying to take a free kick?.....

Anyway the funny bit. When this happened did anyone see the steward in the Yellow jacket run the full length of the John Street stand to try and catch them despite half a dozen stewards being right next to where it happened?. The way he was running he was lucky not to go arse over tit and hit the deck which I am sure would have been greeted with a cheer as it wasn't really necessary.

Been a few flares this season as we all know but that one let off on the Kop today seemed a lot stronger for some reason?. I was a good way away from it towards the front but it didn' half pong and get on the chest. Anyone near to it must have suffered big time.
