Member for a number of years and, especially at this time of the year, avid forum reader, lunchtime over a sandwich sort of bloke. Anyway with the new top flight season approaching and changes to BDTBL I thought I would ask.
Does anyone know what has happened to all the flags etc that have been on the kop over the years? – I realise that some will have been damaged etc and have some old sponsors on (the ‘You fill up my senses’ red and white striped flag springs to mind) But where are they and could we not use them?

Last season a Billy Sharp flag was put up at the side of the kop and other flag(s)s are situated at the back of the kop, but very few. Other premiership clubs have flags from supporters groups on display all the time Arsenal, Chelsea, Man Utd, and I think even Sunderland.

Could not a display be made at the back of the kop? Rather than the solitary flag at the moment?

The big flags that the club produce could be put up, amended, but I am sure there are loads of supporter’s flags that lie idle and are stored away gathering dust.
If the club collected these (fire regulations approved) then that could form a much bigger display at the back of the kop – (and now we don’t need that little bit of income that comes from the advertising boards, due to the premiership riches) could that be given over for an even bigger display of supporters flags?
What are the thoughts? Anyone with any power in the club to make that happen?

I know guys that paid for an Elsecar Blades flagwhich was displayed at the back of the kop but it mysteriously, to the guys that paid for it, disappeared. Used to be a great Birdwell Blades banner as well

Some flag displays are cringeworthy - eg the choreographed goal celebration flag waving at Arsenal and some other grounds. However some really are impressive. As much as I'm not really a lover of the Scousers, I've got to admit that the Liverpool flag displays do look good.

Most are displayed between tiers and we only have the Lane end to do this which is full of sponsors, I’d imagine we’d have to club together to sponsor it with our own flags....

I am a season ticket holder at Glentoran in the Irish league and a supporters group head down to the oval before every game to put up a large number of flags. I know the context is different but the notion of creating an identity between the club and the fans by displaying flags is the same.View attachment 56947

Looks a bit Euro for me that, or England away eg. Aylesbury United, Shrewsbury, Taunton whites etc

Idea should be ditched, along with flag waving cheerleaders, drummers, trumpets, those flappy clappy things, music when'goals are scored, Bladism is not Racism flags, and such like.

Bring back fags ( cigs), swearing, chipmunk crisps, wagon wheels and bovril (as the solitary beverage ) hot pies with ice inside can be excluded.

Wasn’t Glentoran Bestie’s team as a nipper ?

Easily in the top three grounds I've been to for atmosphere

You've been? Brilliant! I'd love to go there.....Dresden fans are supposed to be mental but incredibly racist, no idea how true that is. I can't imagine the time and effort to put that display together though, top effort!
