Midfield battler Nick Montgomery is back in training as he steps up his recovery from a dislocated shoulder.
The combative performer is set to miss the majority of United's pre-season fixtures, but he is eager to be in tip top condition at the start of the 2007/08 campaign.
Nick said: "I can't do contact work for about three to four weeks, although I've done some running and ball work.
"I'll miss most of the pre-season games, which is frustrating."
The Yorkshireman suffered the injury at Aston Villa in May and required an operation in which seven pins were inserted into his shoulder joint.
Nick continued: "It's been painful over the summer, but the rehabilitation with the physio is going well after the operation.
"I should be back as normal and won't have to catch up on fitness work - I can be back fit, ready and raring to go for the start of the season."
