I'm glad that we're signing Hammond until the end of the season. I know that others aren't so keen but, after a slow start whilst gaining match fitness, I reckon the guy is just the sort of solid professional influence that we need on and off the pitch.

What gets me though is all the posts appertaining to what the bloke is being paid.... who at BDTBL(or elsewhere) is leaking this very personal information???

Leaking salary information is in most organisations a breach of discipline and potentially a breach of the law isn't it? I know that if I went around telling folk what other people in my company earned then I'd lose my job. ... and get sued.

So who should Dean Hammond (and others) be suing for leaking their personal information?

Or are some folk working themselves into a frenzy about figures which they know nothing about???? Admittedly I'd happily settle for a life being a quid behind Mr Hammond..... but I do question the the truth of the figures being quoted like they were fact.
 



I don't think it's against the law and I doubt you'd get sued.

Fair enough Pete.... but I would definitely be sacked.

I just wonder how much of the stuff posted about player salaries is fact. .... rumour.... guess work or just pure fiction???? People get themselves in a reyt lather about these figures tho.....

A fair point but Hammond's wage isn't the first, and certainly won't be the last, to be leaked. Many footballers' basic salaries become known, rightly or wrongly.

So why do they become common knowledge? Agents have loose lips, players talk, the Internet makes it all too easy to band figures around. And sometimes those who pay the wages are selective in what they're prepared to say. There's nothing more that irritates them when fans bleet about them not putting their hands in their pockets.

Hammond has grown on me, as many others, but Christ given what we're speculating he should, and the club's wisdom, must be judged accordingly. I hope Dean proves to the difference between us navigating the play offs or spending another season in league 1. Having backed the manager the Board obviously hope so too.

You work for a dodgy compnay if it states in your T and Cs you cannot disclose your salary to anyone inside ( or even outside ) your company. I think such a clause would have zero validity in employment law.

People are guessing but it's not difficult to work out what a PL player earns.

Hammond has been at a PL club for 3 years. The mirror article suggests Southampton paid an average £27k per week in 13/14. If you have the time you can cross check that with public accounts of clubs.

Leicester will be subsidising his wage.

I don't know what people are saying but maybe he's been getting £20k at Leicester, maybe we are paying £10k until he joins on a free. God knows what we'll eventually pay him, it depends which division we are in. Stay down, he may well not join.

Expensive items footballers, especially if you are at a PL club.

Agents certainly talk, they'll have a good idea even if it isn't their player.
 
Ghandi, I agree that I can tell who I want about my salary..... not so sure I'd have the freedom or right to disclose anyone else's without their permission. .....

If a company's payroll department happily provided figures to anyone who rang up and asked what everyone in that company earning then there'd be a problem wouldn't there?

Anyway, and more importantly, I realise I've started a deadly boring thread here that probably deserves to be on some deadly boring legal legal forum somewhere!

Whatevers he's being paid, he's been a non-entity thus far.
The culture in this squad has made otherwise decent players like that and what's why the vast majority of them need to be weeded out.
 
All this leads to wonder how accurate the salaries are for player on the Football Manager series of games.
 
There are footballers at clubs , like Harry Maguire was, in his first full season at hull , not playing , just bench warming all season , getting paid close to a million a year


Our players get a fifth or a quarter at best of that, players like Hammond dropping down to us are taking a swingeing cut in income

cant think of many industries where changing tac would lead to losing say half a million quid
 
Non-plussed personally, opinions formed on his form since he joined, but especially the defending in some of the more recent games. Managers like to sign ex-players and Hammond is no different in this respect. We really need to start hovering up younger talent from this division and the one below, but that has been done to death and we still don't see it happening.
 
I do know this but cant say how ,but his basic at Leicester was 88k a month. All footballers get paid monthly ,some are so thick they couldn't divide it by 4 to tell you their weekly wage ,then of course there are all the bonus's etc ,though I doubt Hammond was seeing any of those. Havent got a clue what we are paying him ,I would guess about 10 but that's just a guess. I am always sceptical when ITKers say what they are earning a week. Luton Shelton was knocking off my secretary when he was at Utd and showed his wage slips off to her ,they were monthly (the wage slips).
 



Regarding the wage leaks, it could be that people are, er....making it up :eek:

What kind of dosh was Shelton on?

My favourite salary rumour was that Jonk got a £5k per week 'appearance' bonus for Wendy. Whether he appeared or not didn't matter. Which was brilliant as he was injured most of the time. This was at a time when no-one at utd would have been anywhere near £5k a week after win bonuses and anything else was added in.

Their wage slips may well be monthly but their contracts spell out weekly earnings. For example, a three year deal will detail p/w earnings for each of the seasons. Increases based on appearance thresholds being met and promotions (ha!) being gained are all detailed. Same goes for cuts due to relegations.
 
When players leave clubs before the end of their contracts on a free transfer to someone lower down the leagues, you can almost guarantee it will be a wage dump.

What happens is, say for example Dean Hammond if he signed for us on a free, he's on £20k a week at Leicester, we would be paying him £8k, Leicester would still be paying him £8k and he would take a £4k hit to drop down a couple of Divisions.

Are you suggesting he has that much influence or that Adkins knew he would have that effect or something else? I personally don't think it is much down to him.

He joined on 20th October. We'd played 13 league games prior to his arrival 12 league games since.

Pre-Hammond:
W6 D3 L4

Hammond-era:
W4 D4 L4

I'd add as opinion that our victories before he arrived were mostly convincing on the back of good performances. Our 4 victories since his arrival have been mostly unconvincing and fortunate.

I think Adkins wants him on the pitch to bring a bit of steel and resiliance to the squad that was missing and also to lead and help raise performance levels of all players...do you think individuals are incapable of this role?

I'd suggest that is what Adkins is hoping for from Hammond...he's got rid of some the unruly elements and is trying to build a tighter unit.

All about opinions. :)

Our performances have certainly been erratic, often in the same game!
As others have mentioned Adkns has changed our style since the early games and we're starting to see some good bits ( Bradford, particularly)

I would suggest our 'convincing' victories have been against teams in a bit of turmoil, Peterborough, Swindon...Fleetwood maybe?
Some were not so convincing..Chessy, Donny even Blackpool..

I dunno, obviously Adkins see's a lot of good qualities in the bloke and fan's are seeing better performances on the pitch ( after too long really)

Let's hope we keep getting better and get a lot more points on the board than the first half of the season.

We look a bit more solid with Hammond, but only in spells, not throughout the whole of a match yet, we will, and soon I hope..

He's not the worst to have by a long chalk..

Couldn't give a shit what he gets paid, or indeed what any of them get paid, anybody in the team who's upset by his earnings needs to look at why they can't command those wages, might be linked to talent these wages things, who'd have thunk it eh..

As an aside, you surely must either believe that these moles don't really exist, or that we shouldn't be signing Dean Hammond?

If he's on half what's being suggested then heads should roll at the club.

I don't believe he is.
