Depressing.
Some relief that both Seriki and Anel are missing (clutching at straws)
But I expected Wilder to swap Anel for a donkey (eg Forest to Burnley) and give Seriki away in the summer.
PERFECT opportunity to play Jesus as striker left alone no 10 today
With Hamer no 10
Brewster is brain dead where football is concerned and just someone who can shoot at goal.
Going to take something special from the others to create something for him where he 1. has a clear shot 2, does not have time to try and think and F it up (eg Wolves one on one, pen this season)
A symptom of why this imbecile Wilder should be nowhere near #sufc.
Fortunately managers are exceeding even economists in the morons stakes.
"Football is a simple game complicated by people who should know better"
Im gonna start one of those gimme pages for shopping to be bought whilst #sufc are playing.
Me giving up on the pictures and going out caused a marked improvement in United results as against Sunderland.
Brewster scored literally as I walked out of the kitchen door into the extension where Radio Sheffield was being recorded.
ASIDE.
The certainty of VAR and the five minute wait.

You what, you what, you what you what you what?!

I don’t care if we play like Real Madrid or AFC Shithouse, as long as we win

I always enjoy reading a match thread after a gritty 0-1 win, where we have not been great and still won and having a titter at you miserable sods who have contributed to the thread during the game.

Yes, calling us thickos. 42 points from 20 games even with a 2 points deduction and we are still thickos!
My comment which seems to have upset you was made at 21 minutes after we had retained hardly any decent possession and our attempts to go forward consisted of long high balls up the middle of the pitch which were not at all our usual style and which immediately turned the ball over to Millwall.
The term thicko was in my mind due to the pre-game publicity surrounding Neil Harris - if I was writing in the Times I would probably have called our tactics unwise & unproductive. But I was watching my team and so thoughts are often expressed with a degree of emotion. I'm not a cold fish.
After that first 20 minutes , we settled down and improved by starting to play our own game.
You point out our points tally and position in the league which is fantastic and beyond all expectations.
Fair enough , but my comment doesn't relate to that - it addresses a poor period of play which , if it had not been corrected , would almost certainly have led to defeat.
I think you & I have to accept that there are different approaches to supporting a football team.
Some would prefer not to comment when they see poor play , believing that to do so shows disloyalty. When they hear other fans calling out poor play , they criticise them for what they perceive as disloyalty.
Others call out poor play , in frustration but also in the hope of improvement which will lead to success. They are often the loudest to cheer when better play arrives. You'll find compliments from me on better play after the first 20 mins.
In both approaches there is the desire to see the team successful.
If you listened to CW after WBA & last night , he accepts that the performances were far from our best , which is understandable in the circumstances , but a fact nevertheless.
On the other hand , the players never give up , which is admirable , and grind out results , which have us top of the league "whilst still learning".
That's fantastic.

JRS looked really annoyed to be hooked , but imo he was very ineffective tonight.

Imo he continually turned inside only to be met by two defenders - instead of turning back and looking for a pass or even trying to go on the outside for a change , he proceeded to kick the ball against those defenders and lost it

Is he under strict instructions from CW to keep turning inside even when it fails every time ?
Or is it his own stupidity or stubbornness ?
If the former , CW needs to change the instructions.
If the latter , I guess CW has to hook him for lack of insight.

Another thing with JRS is this.

Look at where our goal came from - Hamer on the RW.
Before JRS came off.

So , JRS , if you are continually failing on the RW , why not use your initiative and try your luck on the LW instead for a few attacks ? Maybe you'll get more change out of their RB ?
What's sauce for the goose .... etc.
If Hamer is allowed to come over onto the RW (proved by the goal assist) , then take yourself over to the LW.

I would love to know whether or not JRS is under strict instructions from CW to stick to the RW and always turn inside.
I would hope not - which means JRS needs some suggestions shouted at him from the technical area to make occasional changes if he can't get through.

No point him keep repeating the same thing and expecting success when it's continually failing.
Einstein said that was the definition of insanity.

Oh , btw , Hamer should get on the RW more , where he can use his gorgeous R foot.
The way he trapped that 70 yard pass from Robbo and hardly broke his run was masterful.
Jes had no right to be angry with anyone but himself.

I think the lad has all the talent in the world and has the potential to be a top class player in the Premier league but he needs to book his ideas up the last few games he has been woeful to say the least.

And for me personally I think Brooks should be getting a few more minutes.

As I say , it depends to some extent if he is operating under strict instructions on how to play and I guess we'll never know.
But when Brooks comes on , he is put on the R where he is not as effective as he has previously been on the L , which I think is unfair to him.
If Brooks plays he needs to be on the L and Hamer on the R where his Rfoot created last night's goal.

Keen Blade 0 Thickos 1

I'm becoming more and more convinced that Chris intentionally asks our players to start slowly to preserve energy and then up the tempo in the second half. It seems to me it happens too often to be a coincidence.

I don’t care if we play like Real Madrid or AFC Shithouse, as long as we win

Away. Three points. Clean sheet. Top of the league. At least two players off it last night. Young Sydie running his blood to water, Souza carrying a knock and for some it’s not really a good result. Then there’s Brewdog who “only scored a tap in”.

I really enjoyed the game, thought we were a bit sloppy at times but showed real grit in getting the victory. Delighted for Brewdog that he got the winner. Souttar and COH were excellent throughout but Tom Davies looked a different level when he came on; he can play and scrap and will be a key figure for us if he stays fit.

The only downside for me was Vini going off, looked like it was a hamstring issue. Hopefully it won’t be too serious as he is such a key player for us.

I would also like to thank the SUFC box office staff for their excellent work. Our tickets never made it to Belgium but they arranged for them to be available at the Den and sent a number of messages telling me what to do and where to collect them. Because I came over on the early Eurostar I had set my out of office email message and somebody at the club saw this and went out of their way to contact one of my colleagues and asked her to pass on the instructions.

There are often posters on here whinging about tickets and stuff but I couldn’t be happier about the service I received. If any of the ticket office staff come on here I would like to pass on my appreciation for the brilliant job they do. Thanks very much, we had a great day!

Totally agree about the ticket office; they have gone out of their way to help me out more than once in the past.

I also thoroughly enjoyed the game; it wasn't pretty, but we battled, we rode our luck, and we won. There is nothing I like more than seeing United win away from home. Some people on here couldn't enjoy themselves if they were involved in an orgy with the female Olympic gymnastics team AND the synchronised swimming team.

Brilliant result , no one could dispute.
First 20 dodgy like at WBA , but after riding our luck , a real gutsy effort , with the game won by two moments of class from Robbo & Hamer and an instinctive striker's goal from Brewster putting himself into the right place at the right time.

Would you rather us play like Leeds and Burnley do/did there and get beat then?

It would get hammered but I imagine it would look rather different if we got promoted.
Would it though? Even if it did would it be quality? Or like last time we were there?

Brewster was left isolated for the most part and was feeding on scraps and the one time we played to Brewsters strength he bagged a goal.
There were plenty of times he didn't run where he could have taken a pass. His positioning and movement are not up to the mark. If you consider a tap into an open goal as a strength. What would you class Hamers contribution, a superpower?
