Who is the thicko now?
No one ,

Hamer played a good cross into him from the R wing by using his R foot to brilliant effect and he'd run and put himself in exactly the place to tap it in - well done Robbo , Hamer & Brewster.

Banging long high balls up to Brewster was just thick tactics which didn't give him a chance.

Just a tap in remember. Following the movement of Hamer and making the run were probably pure luck. We all know that’s his job but it seems some have to diminish him when he does score.
It is all about anticipation and apart from Campbell we haven't had a fox in the box so to speak since Sharp left.

That was a proper CF goal from Brewster hope he gets a run of games and goals now UTB.

I was very disappointed with Moore. I know he's been injured but I'm not impressed. Then you look at Davies who has hardly played in months and he was excellent.
Moore doesn't seem to be a "battler" whereas Davies never gives up.

Moore threw in the towel once that CB had got the better of him a couple of times.

I'd love to see Davies with O'Hare - the opponents would never see the ball.

I’d say after watching leeds a few times we are behind them in squad quality and certainly depth, but,we keep eeking out results when not expected to. We are running on fumes at present, some players deffo need a break but that happens when the midfield are doing a lot of defending.
CW agrees with you.

Exactly. Based on what i’ve seen so far (this season) i don’t think Wilder has got this calibre of players playing in a way that will bring any success in the prem. By success i mean avoiding relegation. We have the players to be playing better football but its just not quite clicking. It’s efficient but its nasty to watch, full of errors, panicked and wasteful against teams who are far below prem quality. In my opinion the points gloss over a long term issue and in some ways are short sighted as this style of play is not sustainable to build for the prem.

On one hand i respect his points tally but on the other i don’t respect the style of play and quality of football.
For a rebuild based on
"Small fees , Frees & Loans"
The main target is points
It's not fluid free flowing attack
But enjoy the wins while you can
Coz they won't be there in the PL
And it'll look even uglier ...
Unless ...
We get some dollar , dollar
Dollar is what we need 😅

Just back at our digs. The Rake has a lot to answer for. A fair few Blades in before departure for all Cockney corners. Leeds lost at Millwall. One loss in the last ten for Millwall before tonight. Not pretty tonight, perfect result. ⚔️⚔️⚔️⚔️

I really enjoyed the game, thought we were a bit sloppy at times but showed real grit in getting the victory. Delighted for Brewdog that he got the winner. Souttar and COH were excellent throughout but Tom Davies looked a different level when he came on; he can play and scrap and will be a key figure for us if he stays fit.

The only downside for me was Vini going off, looked like it was a hamstring issue. Hopefully it won’t be too serious as he is such a key player for us.

I would also like to thank the SUFC box office staff for their excellent work. Our tickets never made it to Belgium but they arranged for them to be available at the Den and sent a number of messages telling me what to do and where to collect them. Because I came over on the early Eurostar I had set my out of office email message and somebody at the club saw this and went out of their way to contact one of my colleagues and asked her to pass on the instructions.

There are often posters on here whinging about tickets and stuff but I couldn’t be happier about the service I received. If any of the ticket office staff come on here I would like to pass on my appreciation for the brilliant job they do. Thanks very much, we had a great day!

Whilst other people in this thread are complaining we just pass it around at the back too much and need to play more direct because it's how we got the goal. Which is it?
Passing around the back but then hoofing it up the middle might work to some extent with 6'5" Moore but it's not gonna work with Brewster who is under 6ft.
Which is why we couldn't keep the ball for 2 seconds in the first 20 mins , making us ragged & panicky.
Once we settled to our normal passing game we got a bit of control.
The goal came not from a hoof up the middle to no one in particular but a lovely diagonal ball to the flank which was superbly collected by Hamer and crossed into Brewster.

The choice of attacking method is not as stark as you imply.
And can change throughout the game.

JRS looked really annoyed to be hooked , but imo he was very ineffective tonight.

Imo he continually turned inside only to be met by two defenders - instead of turning back and looking for a pass or even trying to go on the outside for a change , he proceeded to kick the ball against those defenders and lost it

Is he under strict instructions from CW to keep turning inside even when it fails every time ?
Or is it his own stupidity or stubbornness ?
If the former , CW needs to change the instructions.
If the latter , I guess CW has to hook him for lack of insight.

Another thing with JRS is this.

Look at where our goal came from - Hamer on the RW.
Before JRS came off.

So , JRS , if you are continually failing on the RW , why not use your initiative and try your luck on the LW instead for a few attacks ? Maybe you'll get more change out of their RB ?
What's sauce for the goose .... etc.
If Hamer is allowed to come over onto the RW (proved by the goal assist) , then take yourself over to the LW.

I would love to know whether or not JRS is under strict instructions from CW to stick to the RW and always turn inside.
I would hope not - which means JRS needs some suggestions shouted at him from the technical area to make occasional changes if he can't get through.

No point him keep repeating the same thing and expecting success when it's continually failing.
Einstein said that was the definition of insanity.

Oh , btw , Hamer should get on the RW more , where he can use his gorgeous R foot.
The way he trapped that 70 yard pass from Robbo and hardly broke his run was masterful.

It’s not just in tonight’s game that JRS has been ineffective but most of those in the last few weeks .

In the early part of the season he looked to be an outstanding prospect , showing some sublime skills and scoring a few excellent goals but recently has been less than average in both these departments .

I struggle to understand why this should be , but as things stand at the moment imo he doesn’t deserve a place in the starting line up and a role as impact sub might be of benefit to both him and us .

I agree but his recent poorer performances have been against tough opposition. JRS is a young gifted player who might put on a better show agains lesser teams. Certainly room to improve, and we might be glad of his legs in later season, similar to our own academy lads?

Start him or bench him against Plymouth and Cardiff maybe?

Teams are clearly aware of him now and defenders often swarm around him when he's on the ball which puts him under pressure and restricts his movement.

What we need is another like him on the other side of the field - that would give them something to think about!

I think we can all agree that we are enjoying the battling qualities of this team and it’s never say die attitude.

I think we can also all agree that if this team goes up it would get hammered every week and I mean hammered

Not really, stupid comment
Would you rather us play like Leeds and Burnley do/did there and get beat then?

It would get hammered but I imagine it would look rather different if we got promoted.

He could help himself by not repeating exactly the same thing whenever he gets the ball , also by switching wings occasionally like Hamer did.

Depressing.
Some relief that both Seriki and Anel are missing (clutching at straws)
But I expected Wilder to swap Anel for a donkey (eg Forest to Burnley) and give Seriki away in the summer.
PERFECT opportunity to play Jesus as striker left alone no 10 today
With Hamer no 10
Brewster is brain dead where football is concerned and just someone who can shoot at goal.
Going to take something special from the others to create something for him where he 1. has a clear shot 2, does not have time to try and think and F it up (eg Wolves one on one, pen this season)
A symptom of why this imbecile Wilder should be nowhere near #sufc.
Fortunately managers are exceeding even economists in the morons stakes.
"Football is a simple game complicated by people who should know better"
You don't have to play up to your user-name, you know.

Looking at our squad I can't help but feel we are massively over achieving and without significant reinforcements in January we could very easily drop off. I'll say it again - the job Wilder is doing with such poor squad depth is unreal.
