You were spot on there. I thought him and Brewster weren't really in the game.
Burrows is a cracking player and we get the win in a battle. Looks like Souza pulled his hamstring. Hopefully not a big issue. But it is good to see Tom Davis and Moore coming on. Gives us a chance to give some a rest.
I think people have underestimated what it takes to win difficult away games like this. Millwall, always physical, mainly huff and puff. I'm glad Cooper and Leonard weren't playing tbh. Let's be positive, a few of the younger players maybe can't start every game. Souza would be a huge loss, have a good feeling about T Davies mind. UTB

Coops - steady , caught stuff
Alfie - off it
Burrows - class , lovely wing play
Souttar - steady
Robbo - lovely pass for goal but struggling to defend without fouling
Peck - decent
Souza - quiet again , was he carrying the injury to which he's now succumbed ?
JRS - poor
Hamer - class but wasted on left
O'Hare - heroic , without him we lose that game , stopping their progress all over the pitch , taking ball to safety , often without help from teammates
Brewster - rusty but some good stuff + some mistakes , in the right place for the goal
Moore - ring rusty , couldn't get better of CB , gave up possession

We look tired & ragged but yet again a touch of class wins it 1-0 and 3 points puts us top - who can argue with that ?

But we need reinforcing in January

I can’t knock the 3 points but the performances need to improve at this level if we want to build a team capable of giving the prem a go. I don’t rate the style of play or tactics. The thought of another season in the prem being whipping boys is not an aspiring one.
Sounds like you are thinking, (like many others) has Wilder got the tactical nous to ensure that United can compete in the premiership? This, along with whoever is the owner is and also funds available will also be part of the equation.

Great result, fairly poor performance.

They were poor in the final third, we were poor in the final 2/3rd. Robinson taking the chance to put a quick long ball forward, exceptional skills from O'Hare and a tap in from Ian Rush.

We defended quite well but once again they were able to put far too many crosses in. It's lucky their striker it having an absolutely mare. They wanted the ball more a lot of the time. Our midfield was quite easy to play through. Again, not much cover for the full backs from midfield.

Nothing upfront. No outball. No holding the ball up. Relying on something to come through Hamer and O'Hare.

Just one shot on goal.

Still, our luck holds and back at the top of the league.

Cooper -7 - Made a couple of sharp saves (pushed the ball out to safety as well) when they were threatening to score.
Burrow - 6 - Decent going forward first half but not close enough to his man to cut out crosses.
Robinson 5 - Gets a point for the ball to O'Hare but I thought he was stupid and lucky to stay on the pitch and not give a penalty away for constant manhandling at corners. Also the ridiculous karate kick clearance. He looks slow.
Souttar - 6 - Not his best game but good to have him back.
Gilchrist - 6.5 - Thought he did a lot of good work defensively but let far too many crosses in. Once again, little help from midfield.
Souza - 5.5 - Thought it wasn't really his game tonight. Looks tired and now potentially out for a few games. He needs a rest really anyway.
Peck -5.5 - Like Souza really and once again he runs forward with the ball and just doesn't look/think and runs into a blind alley. Another that could use a rest.
Hamer - 6 - Did some good work on the ball. Not so much off the ball.
O'Hare - 6.5 - Great moment of class for the goal and always lively but it didn't really come off for him tonight.
Rak-Saki -3 - Really poor tonight. Just ran into the opposition and hardly defended.
Brewster - 4 - Gets a point for the goal but his general forward play is so lacking. We just pass the ball around slowly and have nowhere to go.

subs

Davies - 6 - Looked lively. Made some bad choices but obviously rusty. A bit clumsy with his tackling as well.
Moore - 5 - Good to have him back but he looked rusty
McCallum - 6 - We looked much better at the back with him on

3 points is 3 points. We keep moving forward.

Some really solid performances across the park although we didn't look like we "deserved the win", it doesn't matter.

Davies looked really sharp when he came on, be good to keep building him into the squad.

Macallum needs to be careful, referees will start checking his boots for springs soon 🤣

Really hope Vini was precaution rather than anything confirmed. Has seemed to be carrying something for a few matches now so maybe it's all just caught up.

Squad is starting to creak, I hope we can hold it together

No he hasn't got the tactical nous to compete in the Premiership!! He knows fuck all about Rugby. Bit like you with football really.

A couple of players off form, but still the best squad in the championship.
I’d say after watching leeds a few times we are behind them in squad quality and certainly depth, but,we keep eeking out results when not expected to. We are running on fumes at present, some players deffo need a break but that happens when the midfield are doing a lot of defending.

Not a great performance overall, like many recently but getting the result so important. The one thing we seemed to have learned from EPL is to conjure a goal and be clinical. So many of the teams we have played lately make many half chances and are not clinical. WBA only equalised with a fluke goal, but had many half chances. Millwall, hit the post twice, but failed to score. Our defence is pretty sound, our attack is clinical. Job done. Very happy!

I would give Davies higher than a 6 and I agree that whilst McCallum was only on the pitch for a relatively short period he also did really well

Exactly. Based on what i’ve seen so far (this season) i don’t think Wilder has got this calibre of players playing in a way that will bring any success in the prem. By success i mean avoiding relegation. We have the players to be playing better football but its just not quite clicking. It’s efficient but its nasty to watch, full of errors, panicked and wasteful against teams who are far below prem quality. In my opinion the points gloss over a long term issue and in some ways are short sighted as this style of play is not sustainable to build for the prem.

On one hand i respect his points tally but on the other i don’t respect the style of play and quality of football.

He's a one trick pony with a trick that doesn't work. Game after game he cuts inside and runs straight into defenders. He has zero awareness of who's in front of him or around him. He never sees passing options as he has tunnel vision and tries to run through players. I've seen nothing from him consistently to convince me yet that he's a good player. The fact he's keeping Brooks out of the team speaks volumes about Brooks.
I think JRS has reached a low point - low enough to start Brooks on the left and Hamer on the right on Saturday - look at that lovely takedown , run & cross by Hamer with his R foot for the goal - it's like we've got this brilliant midfielder and we want to waste him on the L wing ... Madness.
And Brooks has no R foot , so for once CW , pretty please with a cherry on top , don't play the wingers inverted.
Look at what Mikey Johnston did to us for WBA
Look at what Watson did for Mackems

I thought Davies was a little too eager at times tbh. Bit clumsy in the tackle as well. It'll come with match fitness but certainly glad we have him to bring on.

Millwall manager to step down after Boro match on saturday

Good result against a team of shithouses in a shithole.

Not many teams go there and get a win, it's always tough.

Tom Davies was absolute class when he came on, lad just oozes class and didn't shirk anything.

Was it a vintage performance? Fuck no.
Should we care? Fuck no.
Nail on the head.
They are effective at what they do and we have enough quality to deal with that. We didn’t control the game as we should have but did enough to win.
Davies was class when he came on. Looks so comfortable on the ball.
Ohare impressed again tonight. JRS was woeful.

Burrows is a cracking player and we get the win in a battle. Looks like Souza pulled his hamstring. Hopefully not a big issue. But it is good to see Tom Davis and Moore coming on. Gives us a chance to give some a rest.
Brewster was left isolated for the most part and was feeding on scraps and the one time we played to Brewsters strength he bagged a goal.

God you’re boring

Last 4 games we look leggy , slow in thought and shithousig our way to results which I love about this team.

However , for me, if we are to maintain our push this season investment is needed as it will only get harder as the season moves along …

So yeah I would love us to have more energy, soeed thought and options AND win games.

You’ve taken a statement as slagging off the team which it wasn’t
I doubt anyone can look at that performance and say we didn't look like a tired team , managing to win when not in control.
Our players have done well but everyone knows how important January is for us , even the two guys across the pond.
I think CW made a faux pas when he expressed some mild frustration with the takeover and wanting some clarity about his prospects for January.
You can see it in his face in subsequent interviews , when the question keeps being repeated - he says "I spoke about it once and that's the end of it".
He clearly regrets saying anything.
It also doesn't help when he says Leeds are miles ahead.
Can't really blame him because I'd be feeling the same , but his comment/frustration might have subtly rubbed off on the players.

How did you manage to fit so much bullshit into 4 lines?

Brewster was left isolated for the most part and was feeding on scraps and the one time we played to Brewsters strength he bagged a goal.

Just a tap in remember. Following the movement of Hamer and making the run were probably pure luck. We all know that’s his job but it seems some have to diminish him when he does score.
