Not a time for dissing any of the squad but have to say the last two Cup games our midfield looks completely different and better without Norwood/Fleck. More pressing, energy, and tracking back. And even with Norwood's absence our distribution was good. Berge looked good in the deeper role.

Think we have a new dimension to our play now .Doyle uses the ball really well and also has more energy than norwood who just seems to slow things down
Don't want to diss Norwood though he would still play for me but his form for the last couple of months has really dropped ,he looks a shadow of the player who up till now had been pivotal

Dropping the flat 3 like lots on here wanted is definitely an improvement. Berge and Doyle with mcatee further up is working well.

Don't forget there were some dodgy moments today that we mostly got away with - except their second goal. I do think Doyle has a better range of passing than Norwood though.

Hecky seems to have stumbled on a lineup and formation that works really well.
Keep it the same from now on

We have been lacking energy and athleticism in midfield most of this season, last season and second EPL season and it has got worse up to and including Luton game with possible exception of Spurs in Cup. Full Mark's to Hecky for changing it but should have been done earlier. Present system with Doyle and Macca seems to work well.

Agree 100 per cent. Fleck and Doyle play and midfield is stationary and one paced. I'd start with Berge Norwood with Ndiaye just infront for the semi given McAtee and Doyle's absence. Or even Coulibaly Berge Ndiaye.

But do we know that Doyle and McAtee can’t play provided Man City agree? On another thread there is discussion but as yet no one has come forward with definitive answer on this so far as I have seen.

The definitive answer is on that thread, a screen grab from the FA of this seasons cup rules.

He said, "I've been to the year 3000
Not much has changed but Norwood and Fleck
still in Midfield...."

Who'd have thunk it?

The two guys who were completely out of their depth in the Championship are absolutely rinsed in the PL?!?!

It's the complete lack of planning, strategy and development that has pulled the rug from under Hecky.

Arblaster, Brooks and Coulibally would be better than what we've seen in the past two games.

Hecky has pulled the rug himself with his own recruitment and selections and tactics

I've been one of his biggest defenders, but Norwood and Fleck weren't fit for purpose in he PL three FUCKING years ago, so what in hell makes anyone think that's an acceptable midfield in 2023.

And we thought Osborn and Basham in the first game was a joke!!

hecky hasnt got a clue with tactics we keep playing 3 centre backs and outnumbered in midfield every every game play a back 4 and get an extra body in midfield teams are just walking through us why cant the guy see this 🙄😳
