Agreed it was a decent point but to accept a point at kick off is not the way to get top 2 in the Championship.

Well, you go in wanting to win, but accept that if it did end up level after 90 that a point away at a team that most thought would be top 10 minimum pre season, then it's not an awful result

Agreed, not an awful result but we could have got more had we been more adventurous with subs.

Terrible conditions. It was never going to be a pretty game and considering we like to press, favour us.

First half was pretty poor. Sloppy. Good turn and goal from Berge, terrible tracking from Lowe. Lazy from RND and sloppy from a number of players. Very little upfront or in midfield from us.

Second half was a bit better. I though RND improved a lot and so did Lowe. Midfield got more involved and stuck in. Much better from Fleck and Norwood. I thought bringing Brewster on made a big difference a lot of energy. In the end, a draw was probably a fair result. Not a lot in it but they could easily have nicked it.

Foderingham - 6 - Not that much to do. Almost had a howler first half but commanded his box well in the second. A bit slow to come at times and needed 'encouragement' from Egan.
Lowe - 4 - Terrible first half. too lazy to stay with his man and was generally flat footed first half. Kept coming inside all the time and RND was playing as a LWB at times. Not sure what that was about. Better second half and made some decent interceptions as the game went on. Needs to be sharper and do better with the ball though.
RND - 6 - Poor first half. All the danger down his side and whilst not helped by Lowe he needs to position himself better and read situations. Terrible booking for laziness. Much better second half and showed a real determination to get stuck in. Grew into the game as it went on.
Egan - 6.5 - Needed to do a lot of organisation and once again a new 3 and 5 at the back. OK first half and much better during the second. Loses .5 for allowing Lenihan a header near the end.
Anel - 7 - Best player by a large country mile first half but showed in the second that he's still getting used to the pace of this division. Sometime a bit slow on the ball and almost got caught and seemed to consider taking the red. Still, MoM for me.
Baldock 5.5 - He is really poor at cutting out crosses. Once again it was far too easy and instead of facing them up he turns his back and wafts out a leg. Not much going forward but stuck with it.
Fleck - 5.5 - Jimmy first half. Looked off the pace and lazy. Not on his toes and slow to react to danger. Better second half and got much more stuck in and tried to get on the front foot.
Norwood - 6 - Sloppy and poor like Fleck first half. Far too casual with his distribution or trying the wrong ball. Tried a Hollywood at the end when no one wanted that. His set pieces were poor all game but it was his quick thinking which put Ndiaye through for the second.
Berge - 6.5 - Great turn and shot for the first and made some good runs throughout the game. Defensive side not great at times and he's a player who almost always looks like he's putting in 85% all game. Lack determination. Sure, he's clearly a quality footballer but he could be so much better.
Ndiaye - 5.5 - Didn't offer much first half, apart from getting through once, and didn't hold up the ball well enough. Put himself about but not really effectively. Better first half and it was his cross which got the goal but looked to be struggling with the conditions.
Sharp - 5 - Like Ndiaye, had little to feed on but did bits well. I thought he wasn't working hard enough but seemed he picked up an injury first half.

Subs

Brewster - 7 - I thought bringing him on changed the game. Offered much more energy and pace upfront and pulled their defenders about and pressured them. Great first touch pass to Lowe and looked a threat. Seemed to pick up a knock from a clash off the ball.
McBurnie - 5 - Came on to help try and move the ball upfield but largely not great.

Hecky - 6 - Difficult game after the game on Thursday and losing Clark is another blow. Had to move players around which was far from ideal. People will criticise the starting XI but he'd already said Doyle, McAtee and Khadra weren't going to start after playing 4 days ago. Difficult position at the moment with injuries and players not quite ready. I'm surprised we only used 2 subs but then again looking at the option every other one was a gamble.

Boro - I thought they were well organised and played ok as a unit. They lack players with a bit of class but will grind out results. I thought Steffan had a good game. Very good hand to the Brewster chance when he was running through and looked solid.
We scored a disallowed goal from one of Norwood's set pieces first half, Steffan had to tip on iver shortly after n'all.

Some of you lot would have been on suicide watch if the one that hit the post went in , you’re like fkin Fanny’s!
I would have been absolutely fucking gutted, a game we should have took 3 points to leave with nothing, heartbreaking….

Just curious how you would have felt? Seems this forum is full of the oh well we go again next week brigade, they don’t really seem to care if we win or not by the looks of it.

Drew away at Boro , decent result so stop crying

Before the game yes I’d have taken a point. After watching the game it was 2 points dropped, as much as you think it was a decent point you would have to agree we should have taken 3 points yes?

Anyway going back to your original post, if that had gone in off the post how would you have felt?

Completely agree. Decent point at a team we never take anything away from. Win the next two and that’s a good first 5 games

Boro are very average but sometimes you have to get a result against resilient teams

Can’t stand Wilder

Watford, Blades, Burnley, Huddesfield, Middlesbrough, West Brom and Norwich were, I think and just three games ago, expected to be the teams challenging at the top come the END of the season. I've listed these teams here in the order they are in the league as of now, we are second having played two of them away.
This competition is over 46 games, the season will be a roller coaster but I think we'll be up there challenging .Enjoy the ride and some weekends be happy, some disappointed but always look at the big picture. In about 10 games time we will have a better indication of where we might be come the end of the year - challenging for automatic promotion or play offs - but to be successful we have our part to play whether in the stands, on comments on forums or when talking to each other. Get behind the team.

Away from home we’re dreadful because his tactics is to cling onto what we have. A blind man could have seen we needed more energy in mid. When the big decisions are needed to be made hecky is a coward

The fear of playing away was demonstrated in our final play-off match against Forest.

We were down and out, no one gave us a chance at Forest.
So we have no choice but to be positive and tske the game to them and it worked.

That QPR game was also utter gash for 45 minutes until we realised a draw wouldnt have been of any use.

The fact we have shown we can go away to teams and take the game to them yet the manager chooses not to is disappointing to say the least

Would have been disappointed but not slagging everyone at the club off , everything is black and white with you serial moaners … happy days when we win and sack the lot if we don’t!
Judging by your user name you will be around 60 same as me and after some of the crap we have endured over the years these are the good times and all you can do is whinge half the time … cheer up🙄

If Hecky carries on like this , he is effectively giving Sander no reason to stay and Khadra , McAtee & Doyle will get recalled by their PL clubs.

decent performance, we were much the better team & we can be around that level or better we will be top 6.

but it shouldve been 3 pts in the bag by a margin near to last boro game 4-1 so very disappointing to only leave with a point. ref cost in the 1st half with offside for an own goal which is baffling. as dont understand how that works. then more terrible marking with mcburnie more interested in the ball than the man

it was a factor & surprises me. that on 1 of hottest football days. we didnt make more subs to freshen up the team in midfield as any player is going to wilt in that heat

Slightly older than you and I’m a cheerful bloke but can’t help feeling deflated when it comes to Utd especially when we were more than good enough to get the 3 points today, played well but for me the tactics and subs late on is what cost us. What people like yourself need to learn is that we can have an opinion on a game, it doesn’t mean we think we are shit, or that promotion is blown, or bedwetting, it’s just an opinion, it’s a football forum to discuss the matches and all things United. I thought we played well today and should have won, I think with the right subs and fresh legs in midfield we could have held on. Am I not allowed this opinion? It’s moaning or bedwetting? No mate it’s just an opinion and is what this place is for.

I was right
Done his ankle
Another one bites the dust
Our luck with injuries is fkin horrendous

Was a contact injury i think. Don't think too serious, probably a bit of bruising and swelling.

Chelsea have just been by far the better side v Spurs and guess what … they drew 2-2 !

So if Chelsea fans are a bit peeved with not taking 3 points would that mean they are moaning bastards or bedwetters? Of course it wouldn’t. It would mean they think they deserved the 3 points and not happy with just the 1 so 2 points dropped in their eyes. Same as me, it what football fans do, they have opinions on how a game went.

Good point on the road today and Sander's goal was sublime.

I love the way these match threads tidy up all the “Shoutbox” angst into one convenient easily-absorbable package. Excellent move.

Just seen the highlights and Boro's second goal is not entirely McBunnys fault,Egan has a lot to answer for just letting his man move off him and he reacted too slowly to cover him and stop the header to Akpom.
