Mick McCarthy quote

Erm, we did do A LOT WORSE!

Just a bit! Just thinking post- Robson he would have been ideal. Another perfect scenario would have been getting him in to replace Blackwell in the summer before we sacked him after 2(?) games. Failing that, replacing Speed instead of Adams. And then take your pick of any L1 year before Wilder, though him dropping a division might have been unrealistic.

Actually, a quick look at wikipedia shows at the times he would have been a good fit for us, he was doing well elsewhere, and the one time he was out of work and baggable, we were flying (first season in L1 under Wilson).

It seems us and big Mick are destined to be ships in the night!

Strable isnt it that we have MM a stalwart of the game and the championship, who thinks what he does about us and says we are a good team in with a decent chance of going very well this season, and then we have the wendies and local preas hacks who try to play us down and tell is that we are going to struggle and we should aim for the lofty achievements of survival only.

How strange. On reflection I think i will go with the evidence as seen by my own eyes which is more akin to what big Mick has being saying. Maybe, just maybe...Mick knows a thing or two and a little bit more than jealous pigs or naive (or at worst just blatantly biased) local pundits in the local rag or radio. Big Mick called it right, we will go very well this season. Co incidentally something I predicted from the eve of thr season. I knew we had nowt to fear.

His team hoofed and hoofed again, yesterday. They were awful. As agricultural as a Massey Ferguson.

No wonder he’s well liked in S2. I’ll stick with proper football, thanks.

You're always going on about non blade wankers
Yet you're the one trying to provoke fellow blades when everything in the gardens rosy
Can't you just be happy that we've won and are playing well and leave the wumming out ?

Mick McCarthy:

1. Played for Celtic

2. Refused to shake hands with Thatcher in 1988

He's alright in my book...

Used to be in sesame street

Also took a stand against Roy Keane, which I admired him hugely for.

Used to have a tash.

Scored an own goal and very nearly a second one on his debut for Millwall - left the ground in disguise, won them over in the end though.

Star of the best footballing meme ever (after Brookes megging Hunt).

Nose also points in different direction to face.

I think you need to take off the Hoof-o-vision 4D goggles and open your eyes.

Some lovely fast balls through to McGoldrick and plenty of footballing threat. A few longer balls at times but much of that was due to our superb pressing.

Only in S2, eh?

I’m absolutely delighted. It doesn’t extend to cap-doffing Mick McHoofy, though. They were the most anti-football team we’ve played all season, yet receive plaudits on here?

How does criticising another team’s Hoofy manager provoke fellow Blades? I fear the answer to that one is rhetorical.

Perhaps you’d prefer I lambast the chairman for selling David Brooks? A routine post-match reaction from “fellow Blades” when everything in the garden is rosy.

Only in S2...

Quote these plaudits and reply to them

Why do you keep inappropriately referencing "cap doffing"?

Mick always reminds me of Chris Morgan - pair of dingles who speak honestly, similar playing style and speak their minds, top blokes IMO

I thought Norwich were the most anti-football. Ipswich have lesser players than Norwich so weren't pretty, but they played hard and fair.

Can you find people on here who complained about United's style of football yesterday? I put on the old gits thread a single example when I wished Blackman and Wright had played a long ball, and asked you if you agreed with me. Last time I looked, you had not answered my specific question (as usual). If you think they took the right decision, I am happy for you to call me a hoof baller. But I am offended that you insult our fellow Blades with no evidence.

Strabler things have happened, Weasers, strabler things have happened.

I think he's on a mission to get a 'dislike' button installed.

Mick is a very underrated manager, usually brought in when teams are under pressure financially or in a slump, normally stabilises a team them gets dumped for a big name, no wonder chris speaks highly of him

Momentum is bollocks, we have quality.

We actually have both swiss - quality is permanent and if we can maintain the momentum then after Xmas could be tasty again.

We are, just as last season, "growing" into the season. We started to make tremendous progress around Nov/Dec time last season ,but we have started earlier this season.

If this continues................
