My favourite player when my dad started taking me way back in the 60s, broke my heart when that bastard Dick Wragg sold him to Leeds 😪

Mick was my favourite at the time along with Birchenall, and gutted that he left for Leeds.
Always remember the M.I.C.K chant as a kid, can't remember if we had one for AB.

Mick lived/lives on Broom Grove.

I lived on St James Ave

Lee Morris and Mark his brother were good friends of mine growing up (see story below!) & I got to Colin and Mrs M well.

Glenn Cockerill lived next door to them. West Bank Drive.

Ian Bryson lived in North Anston, as did Briam Deane for a while, on Penny Piece Lane.
All in the days when footballers couldn't afford the Hope Valley , let alone Wilmslow !

Memories !
My first girlfriend Anne Johnson lived at 7 St James Ave.
I lived in the village from '73 till '76 when I went to Brum Uni.
I never spent much time there afterwards coz all my High Storrs mates were in Sheffield and I used to stay at their parents houses coz it was too much hassle to bus out to Anston.
But as a 15-18 year old I made extra £ from the fruit machine in the Trooper (you could see into it and count the coins stacked up so you knew when it was due to pay out).
Added to my "tray-lad" wages from the Lane , I could afford naughty nights out 😔

I was also at that match, and remember Mick’s headed goal at the Kop. I was on the BL lower tier and as I jumped up to celebrate my head hit the underside of this Man U fans chin and he bit his tongue, there was blood everywhere. I’m reight hard me.
ive spoken about this goal many times on here i was also on the lane end that boxing day absolute bullitt of a header past stepney at the kop end best headed goal ive seen in 70 years watching football

violent day on the kop that was city fans were above us and we learnt a lot that day and blades fans moved to the top of the shoreham for the derby sept 2nd 67 another very violent day on the shoreham wednesday won the game but came 2nd and unstuck on that day on the shoreham
Daveyboy and his 99 mates couldn’t make it for them that day then?

dont know who your on about but wednesday were lucky to get on the shoreham that day and even luckier to get off it ⚔️

I wasnt doubting you. Were you as angry that day as you seem in that reply?

I was there, saw lots of it but being twelve left it to the bigger boys.
