I'm really confused about Gilchrist. I presume a condition of us loaning him would be that he played at right back because why otherwise would Chelsea loan him to a club to play out of position? If that's the case, how can we then start playing him at CB when we've agreed to play him at RB.

Might be wrong, but I think the few times Chelsea played Gilchrist last season, they used him at RB, they had quite a few injuries at both RB and LB last season.

Laughing at all those who think Keane isn't good enough for us in the Championship!!!

It will be a big mistake not to bring a centre back in who can go straight into the first 11 and not one Wilder will make.

Anel and Keane/an other as first choice with Robbo, Gilchrist and Baptiste as back up is the bare minimum we need.

At the minute if Anel is out we are left with Robbo and Gilchrist....gulp

The way Chelsea play their full-backs I really doubt Gilchrist has a future as RB there. I think the writing's on the wall for him at Chelsea anyway. They'll sell him for pure profit because he's home grown like they did with Gallagher.

I think the smart thing to do now is to test him as CB and see if he's good enough there to buy him in the summer.

Blades Ramble revealed the details of the loans ages ago.

Apparently us and Chelsea both have the option to send him back
But notice must be given during the 1st week of Jan.
We’re now past that point so he’s definitely staying, same with Rak Sakyi too.

Happy Gilchrist is staying (even if he was rubbish today) as he gives us depth at the back. He isn't the solution for a Souttar replacement though. Everyone can see miss his physical presence but just as importantly we miss his leadership out there. No-one seems to be organising us at the back anymore. I think Keane could provide that. Not sure he's coming though!

Hamza only one of above I've been given info on throughout window so I'd lean on that still being #1. Grimes was at top of the list with HC end of December but guessing MG a no go now. Obviously everything could change quickly and Charles would be great / banter but not been passed his name yet.
