Michael Doyle

His time was probably up (although, depending on who we sign in summer, I'd have him on the bench ahead of many of our midfield army)

He has consistently put a shift in, with differing results, and I wish him well.

Listened to the interview on RS earlier. Got to say he came across 100 percent genuine and as has been said in earlier threads has a real bond with sufc and it's supporters.
I personally liked Doyle as a player. Ok he was frustrating at times particularly that he didn't get more goals when actually he has a great shot and why oh why he didn't take a pen in the shoot out against HTFC before the likes of andy taylor ..but all that said he has been a superb servant for the club.
I personally don't like how the club have handled this .. Yet again
I have posted on here about communication/PR before and it's another example . Everyone knew all this bollox about we are resting him because he is on 8 bookings was toilet.
Why couldn't they announce it before the chez game and it least give him a send off that he surely deserved .. Club captain and all that ??
Just my opinion
As much as i have berated Doyle i still can't believe the club didn't give him a better or proper send off, disgraceful! He wasn't a Clough signing though so that perhaps explains it:rolleyes:

Guys, Doyle is the reason why we are in this mess. ever since we have signed him we have fell like a brick, worst run ever started just after we signed him under Adams and it has just got worse since, we are now established 3rd tier shite. Good riddance, hope a few more fall by the wayside.

What a pity he let himself down in his last interview. He's an experienced pro. His contract is up. His expression of surprise at "being told yesterday" that he was being released is disingenuous at best.

The clue came when no-one asked you in to discuss a new contract Michael.
And he told some supporters on Monday he was leaving

At Michael's age, what could we offer? A one year contract? 3 years? Neither would have been good for either Michael or the club.

Michael needs someone to give him a final few years. We have to move forward.

He tried hard, wasn't super talented, but gave his best.

Good Luck to Michael.

Onwards and upwards to the Blades!

I agree, mate, it's just the absurd notion that talent is an optional extra that makes me chuckle. The 11 most gifted footballers in the world would have the 11 fittest, most athletic, most committed, most loyal, most driven players, begging for mercy before half-time and they'd do it drinking a pint and smoking a fag. That's the relative importance of the qualities in issue. Only certain SUFC supporters would think the matter even capable of argument, sad to say.

Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.

He's a little like the kid at school who all the teachers love. The one who works himself to the bone to get a C.

We were down before we signed Doyle. Sacking Blackwell sent us down

Am worried that we retain McEverly and release Doyle. Doyle is not super talented but we could never doubt his commitment. McEverly is soooo inconsistent and the number of clubs he has been at demonstrate this and his commitment. The first half hour of his debut at Peterborough was the worst I have seen by a Blade......he did get better but way too inconsistent.
I am a little worried by the early signs.
