(hopefully) not too worried about the Everton interest as he would be behind Pickford , although they could sign him now and loan him out (maybe to us) so they have a ready replacement when Pickford does hang his gloves up
My main concern would be if Manchester United became interested He would probably start the season as their first choice 'keeper

Why is that?

I don't follow why a player in front of you affects the way you distribute the ball further forward? We're surely not questioning his ability to pass the ball 10 yards?

I don't see any problem with his distribution, though no doubt it can improve. It's the idea that it's in some way Wilder's fault that's nothing short of laughable.

I'm not suggesting that anything is "Wilder's fault". I'm merely pointing out that Wilder's tactics, particularly when we were ahead or trying to close out a game revolved around getting the ball as far away from our goal as possible, often aiming at the 5'6" Hamer on the left wing. That naturally decreases a goalkeeper's pass completion stats. Cooper was also lauded by Plymouth fans for his ability to launch counter attacks with quick, accurate long throws. How often did we see that last year?

What I would say is that Wilder isn't at Nigel Clough's kick for touch level though. That was something else.

Wilder derangement syndrome is real thing both ways it seems.

If this is aimed at me you're miles off the mark.

It's the most ridiculous transfer rumour I think I've seen as a blades fan. One headline was "Everton make a stance to only pay £5m for Cooper".

Just wtf. It's not like we're negotiating with them. Lazy, AI driven click bait headlines best to be ignored.
100% was written with the hope it would cause some instability with the player to encourage him to ask to leave.

Dear Everton,

Just in case the rumour involving your football club, and Michael Cooper were indeed true, please re-arrange these two words into a statement:-

Off
Fuck.

PS: While we're on, your tendency to spoz Premiership survival year on year is getting fucking annoying. I only wish we had your connections in "high places".

Regards
Large Mendonca

Bournemouth now might be though
Only for a backup though as Neto is their starter unless they want a new starter and backup but I’d have thought they’d go abroad for a more affordable option than Cooper but you never know.

Have Leeds signed a keeper yet?
Not yet no, haven't noticed too many linked either, did notice an article the other day mentioning Angus Gunn as a potential signing though, surely only as a no.2 though. I would assume they are waiting for some mug to want to buy Meslier first.

Speaking to a Leeds fan today (eww) he seems to think Meslier is off to turkey and they’re bringing in some superstar from Italy.

Think the Fenerbache link was dismissed but I could be wrong on that, keepers in Italy I dont know many, there's a Japanese int who's highly rated over there, surely not him.

Directing the ball where you want it to go over distance is a skill that this keeper has and many in the men’s game don’t.
But you cannot compare the mens and women's games it's like me saying well the goalkeeper in our under 8s has better distribution than cooper because when he kicks it out they always keep possession and won 9-0 last week, so he could learn something, it's absolutely ridiculous the women's game is of absolutely no comparison to the men's it's played at 30 percent of the pace, there is no pressing no intensity nothing it's ridiculous to compare that's why it's shit

Most of the keepers who are considered to be among the the greatest of all time in English football such as Banks , Shilton annd Schmeicel were never noted for their distribution skills , and rightly so in my opinion .

All of them gained that reputation from their ability to prevent the opposition scoring goals by making outstanding saves and commanding the 6 yard box to nullify that possibility , which must surely be the most important attributes required from for a goalkeeper.

Without wanting to compare Michael Cooper with any of those all time greats , my opinion is that along with Alan Kelly he has already demonstrated that he possesses both of those attributes in abundance and am delighted to have him in in our team , especially at the mere pittance of a fee that we paid for a keeper of his quality .

For me , his distribution skills are by no means as bad as many we have had in recent times but in any event , must surely rank someway down the list of priorities for those required to be an extremely competent goalkeeper .

Snowflake was talking purely about distribution over distance by a goalkeeper and the accuracy thereof. They play on the same sized pitch, it’s directly comparable. Its about accuracy of kicking a football.

Blackman’s kicking and distribution was terrible when we got him on loan. By the time he left us it had obviously been improved after working with coaches.
Cooper is not the finish deal hence we got him and he came cheap.
Give the lad time.

If the game is played at the same pace with the same pressing intensity it's directly comparable but it isn't so it's not

Everton say that they'll be increasing their bid for Cooper, the £5m bid for him didn't go down too well in South Yorkshire so the bid will increase to £6m. Would we want to be paying more than that for someone who'll be sat on the bench being potential competition for Pickford? (Everton's words) 🤣
