Grbic ??Speaking to a Leeds fan today (eww) he seems to think Meslier is off to turkey and they’re bringing in some superstar from Italy.
He reminds me a lot of Alan Kelly (the best keeper I’ve seen at the Blades). Most of the keepers who are considered to be among the the greatest of all time in English football such as Banks , Shilton annd Schmeicel were never noted for their distribution skills , and rightly so in my opinion .
All of them gained that reputation from their ability to prevent the opposition scoring goals by making outstanding saves and commanding the 6 yard box to nullify that possibility , which must surely be the most important attributes required from for a goalkeeper.
Without wanting to compare Michael Cooper with any of those all time greats , my opinion is that along with Alan Kelly he has already demonstrated that he possesses both of those attributes in abundance and am delighted to have him in in our team , especially at the mere pittance of a fee that we paid for a keeper of his quality .
For me , his distribution skills are by no means as bad as many we have had in recent times but in any event , must surely rank someway down the list of priorities for those required to be an extremely competent goalkeeper .
I wouldn’t swap him for Pickford … I think he’s already better… and certainly less flaky.Everton say that they'll be increasing their bid for Cooper, the £5m bid for him didn't go down too well in South Yorkshire so the bid will increase to £6m. Would we want to be paying more than that for someone who'll be sat on the bench being potential competition for Pickford? (Everton's words)![]()
Aren't you describing why we shouldn't rely on Ai there???But you cannot compare the mens and women's games it's like me saying well the goalkeeper in our under 8s has better distribution than cooper because when he kicks it out they always keep possession and won 9-0 last week, so he could learn something, it's absolutely ridiculous the women's game is of absolutely no comparison to the men's it's played at 30 percent of the pace, there is no pressing no intensity nothing it's ridiculous to compare that's why it's shit
Yep, Manchester United were obsessed with distribution under ten Hag and look were it got them. Sacrificed a perfecty fine Premier League goalkeeper in de Gea for Onana who can't even make the most simple saves.I want a goalkeeper that makes saves, doesn't conceed many and commands a back line. We have that in Cooper. I hope he stays with us for many seasons to come.
Distribution is second to the above imo and hopefully a couple of new CBs have that in their locker.
Not so. I was comparing the distribution by the England keeper with those in the men’s game. But you cannot compare the mens and women's games it's like me saying well the goalkeeper in our under 8s has better distribution than cooper because when he kicks it out they always keep possession and won 9-0 last week, so he could learn something, it's absolutely ridiculous the women's game is of absolutely no comparison to the men's it's played at 30 percent of the pace, there is no pressing no intensity nothing it's ridiculous to compare that's why it's shit
If Burnley do come in for him I’d ask the same as what they get for Trafford.Weird how these things gather momentum
Maybe Burnley will go in for him but I doubt they will be willing to pay what we want or even if they think he is good enough

Different times though. All they had to do in those days was hoof it to around the halfway line and they were rarely asked to receive a ball under pressure from the opposition. Distribution wasn’t a big thing for keepers until around 10 years ago. Most of the keepers who are considered to be among the the greatest of all time in English football such as Banks , Shilton annd Schmeicel were never noted for their distribution skills , and rightly so in my opinion .
Then they won’t buy him and we’ll price them out which I’ll be happy with.He isn't as good as Trafford, and a few years older.
I do think Cooper is way better than Ramsdale was when we sold him though, and that should be the benchmark.
That sums up most of the bull which is published on these sitesReport from an Everton site is that they think they’ve got much more chance of signing Cooper because we have GRBIC to rely on.

Most premier league clubs seem to be looking in Europe.
Can someone put Grbic on Eurostsr to France then he will be in Europe?Unfortunately for Cooper despite being an excellent keeper it’s very unfashionable to recruit an English championship goalkeeper. Most premier league clubs seem to be looking in Europe.
I’m still amazed we had such a free run at him last season. I know he had an injury the season before but if Everton wanted him for £5m that was the time to do it.
No not all absolutely no correlation to using a Data driven approach at all , and if you had a grasp of how business use data you wouldnt have posted thisAren't you describing why we shouldn't rely on Ai there???

Another graduate (1st class ) from the Iniversity of Derby?
Fuck me!!!Another graduate (1st class ) from the Iniversity of Derby?
Martin Samuel must be shitting himself what with the quality of ‘competition’ the former Derby Municipal Technical College is now churning out?!?

Biggest surprise about that is that Derby has a university!!! Seems every 6th form college/poly/post 18 education establishment is called a university nowadays.Fuck me!!!
I was taking the piss, but…..
Only got a 2:1 mind

You spelt tips wrong ?It's women's football if he's watching their goalies for tips to bring to the men's game we are getting relegated conceding 350+
If you have ever used the Internet to buy anything from car insurance to a family holiday you have used a data driven approach whereby you input certain information ie the car you drive where u live job u do etc and u get a result and a pricec based on those parameters same with a holiday you input destination, dates number of people going, board type etcc, this is not that far removed from how football clubs use data when looking at players, the AI is just A buzz word for data driven in itself it means nothing as a phraseI have no idea how business use data, and I did post that.
But surely Ai uses data in the same way business uses data??
And as its a "data driven approach" I asked.
The thing with data though, it needs inputting, does it not?, and sometimes I'm guessing, it can be wrong....?
