There were obviously a lot more stronger words spoken then as you've clearly had it explained further directly from the source (McNulty). I heard his opening line and it wasnt threatening at all. The bit I had the issue with was how many ran over to lean over the bar at him. If he did in fact call him a disgrace etc. Then yeah, deserved it.

I had to google to find out where Viper Rooms is. Recognised the place, there is a bar downstairs (forgot what it was called in 1987) and there was a big brawl between two gangs when I was there that night in 1987 and chairs were thrown all over the place! Never went back there again!

Yes, it was Metro! It was on a Friday night in November I think

Metro was downstairs ,the big brawls always took place in Dickens upstairs.
We had an experience with the bouncers from there last year ,my lad was just back from Afghan and out with his mates from Sheffield and one bought a bottle of Greygoose in the Viper rooms ,a fight broke out near them and the bouncers charged in and kicked them out keeping the bottle of Vodka .We were in West Live and my lad called me to share a taxi home. as he waited outside an argument was taking place between the original mob and the bouncers ,I was sat opposite in a taxi watching as a middle aged woman punched my lad in the face for no reason ,he took a step back and laughed at how ridiculous it was and the coppers raced in and encouraged by the bouncers arrested him. I managed to get in the black Mariah with him and asked to speak to the copper in charge. I told him the situation and he said they would drive us around town for 10 minutes and if we were still calm let us go. Apparently they were looking at CCTV and saw the whole situation as it really was ,thus letting us go. No repercussions against the woman or the Viper rooms which really pissed me off ,its a shithole anyway.
